Laxaþjóð | A Salmon Nation

Our relationship with nature not only defines our history, it shapes our future, too. Yet beneath the surface of Iceland’s fjords, an industrial fish farming method threatens to destroy one of Europe’s last remaining wildernesses. Laxaþjóð | A Salmon Nation tells the story of a country united by its lands and waters, and the power of a community to protect the wild places and animals that helped forge its identity.

Community Energy in Italy

The Italian government has recently approved renewable-energy communities. Now, it’s our turn to act.

The Italian Energy Transition Needs Your Support

The government has approved the formation of renewable-energy communities, allowing citizens, associations and commercial enterprises to produce clean power for their own use.

With the help of established cooperatives in Italy, like ènostra, we can change the way we make and consume energy based on community participation and benefit. The power to change our system is now in the hands of ordinary people, like you and me.

Join or invest in the ènostra energy cooperative. Or build your own.

Stories of Community Energy

Villanovaforru, Sardinia

Villanovaforru is a small Sardinian municipality of 660 citizens who are challenging the region and government’s use of methane on the island. In July 2020, the town councillors passed a resolution denouncing methane on Sardinia and asking their region to abandon fossil fuels and rethink its energy plan.

Together with the ènostra energy cooperative, Villanovaforru is creating a renewable energy community using a “bottom-up” approach with the help of citizens and local stakeholders. The decarbonization of Sardinia is also part of “Renewable Sardinia”, a wider regional project being carried out by WWF Italy.

Valle di Ledro, Trentino

A renewable energy community is taking shape in the small mountain town of Ledro, thanks to the collaboration between ènostra, an energy cooperative based in Milan, and the SO.L.E Cooperative.

Biccari, Puglia

Biccari, a small Italian town with almost 2,800 residents in the province of Foggia, has just started their energy transformation. They will collaborate with the energy cooperative ènostra, to create a pilot project for expanding Italian community power.

Get Involved

Together, we can restore power to the people and bring the benefits of clean energy home.

Join the movement

You can help change the Italian energy system. Become a member of the ènostra energy cooperative and switch your power provider to one that sources from citizen-owned renewables.

Invest in Co-owned Renewables

Shared ownership of renewable power makes it possible for small companies and individuals to support our energy transformation. Invest 500 € or more in a co-owned wind or photovoltaic project in Italy to become a partial owner.

Build Your Own Energy Community

The energy cooperative ènostra provides resources for starting your own community-energy project in Italy.
