Mihela Hladin Wolfe
Director of Environmental Initiatives EMEA
STARTED AT PATAGONIA
Amsterdam, the Netherlands
How did you first come across Patagonia?
I always admired Patagonia for the quality of its products and business leadership in environmental issues.
My mom bought the first Patagonia shell jacket about 25 years ago, and all women in the house wear it to this day! And, it still looks good!
Why do you work at Patagonia?
When I was developing my own consultancy in China, we were using Patagonia as an example of a business who is doing well by doing good. I had a chance to see some of the factories that Patagonia was partnering with and I was always wondering how it would be to work for such a company. After turning 40+ and being an entrepreneur for a long time, I never thought I’d work for another company, but when the job in Amsterdam was out I didn’t think long before applying.
What is the best thing about working at Patagonia?
Every day I am inspired by the people I get to work with, the work of hundreds of environmental organizations that we fund and am challenged by Yvon’s thinking: "What more can we do?"
What have you learned from working at Patagonia?
I have a chance to read, meet and discuss with front line thought leaders and doers on environmental challenges and solutions in my daily work. This helps me learn and understand the context of how we impact our Planet and how to drive our campaigns and work beyond the personal and business comfort zone. I am continuously inspired how much we can do and how far we can think as a company.
