Additional Information

A request from our ultrarunning ambassadors who asked for a breathable cap—the Duckbill is back in a lightweight SUPPLEX™ recycled nylon. Hat folds and packs easily.

Read More Close
Airy, crushable-yet-resilient and a timeless favorite, the Duckbill Cap pairs an open tricot mesh and SUPPLEX™ nylon (using Baggies™ fabric) for the reflective coverage of a running hat with the heat-dumping functionality of a visor. The short foam brim shades your eyes without blinding you to overhead branches and it bounces back to its shape after being folded in the pocket of your shorts. A COOLMAX® fabric headband wicks moisture, and a slim rear buckle with elastic adjusts the fit.
Features
  • The brim and front are made of updated Baggies™ fabric; open mesh on rest of cap dissipates heat
  • Foam brim can fold into a pocket and rebound to its original shape
  • Dark underbill reduces glare
  • COOLMAX® fabric headband wicks moisture
  • Adjustable rear buckle with elastic for snug fit
  • 43 g (1.5 oz)

Recycled Nylon

Although we’ve been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

We’re diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.

Water Resistant

DWR
(durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.
