Nylon

Lightweight yet durable, nylon is one of the strongest materials we use in our garments and equipment.

Why

Nylon, a plastic-based fiber, offers some of the best performance qualities we look for in clothing and gear, including durability and moisture-wicking. But like most plastics derived from petroleum, manufacturing nylon comes with costly environmental impacts that pollute the land, water and air.

We’re making progress

We’re decreasing our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source.

The percentage of virgin nylon we used in our products this season.

Where We Are

When we need a lightweight yet durable fabric, nylon is vital for its strength and moisture-wicking properties. We still use a great deal of nylon, but we’ve switched to recycled sources for most of it: In our Spring 2023 line, only 2% of our entire material usage by weight includes virgin nylon.

What’s Next

Like polyester, nylon fiber is made from petroleum. Our goal is to stop using virgin petroleum-based fabrics and materials by 2025.
