I thought that the clips that tie into the stitched webbing material on the shoulder straps were very difficult to get on and off. To fit my size, the clips were right on my shoulder. Hey Dace, thank you for the thorough review. We're sorry to hear that you're not a fan of the suspension clips on these waders, and we'll make sure to share your feedback with our product team. Light seepage but otherwise wonderful. I trust Patagonia will make it right
Bought these back in ~January '22. I first fished with them wading for a few short trips in March and was very pleased with the performance. The fit is large but that leaves room for puff pants etc. I just returned from my annual insane trip: 60+ hours in the water in 6.5 days. 75% in a tube the rest freestone wading. I don't know when to... Read More stop. Day 2 I had some light leaking in the crotch/seat area. Day 5 I noticed some leaking around the top of the gaiters on the inside seams. One neoprene boot was damp on the inside. I wear Seal Skinz over my socks so I was fine but it felt a bit squishy. So that's an issue but I know Patagonia will make it right. I seem to be a very rare case. Everyone I know with these or other Patagonia waders loves them and has had zero issues, or gets them fixed after years of use. I must have got the pair that was assembled by a trainee. My previous waders were Cabela's guide waders which were worn through the outer fabric in a few places but watertight for 14 years.
Features: Fit is great. No binding. Suspender system works well but I wish there was a locking clip for the back strap. You need to make sure it is raised up before you pull them up and be careful that it stays up when you raise them. The suspenders are VERY comfortable. I didn't see using the inside pockets but used them for a camera, snack bars and trash. Didn't feel uncomfortable when loaded. The waterproof pocket is great, the top and hand warmer pockets are well placed too. Gaiters could be a bit tighter for my Foot Tractors in mucky spring creeks. The gaiter hooks are very sturdy. Nice wear patches and drainage strip. The belt is comfortable and well placed. I would like to see very robust cinch straps, or heavier elastic around the top for deep, swift wading. If I'm at risk of water going over the top I want to be sealed. The ability to lower everything to the belt line while leaving the suspenders in place is nice except for the pesky back strap.
Peeing: in order to answer the call I needed to take off my vest and wriggle out of the suspenders to get everything lowered. You could undo the metal clips and leave the vest on but the clips are very secure and difficult do undo.
Other: hiked a few miles in these. Easy to move around and over obstacles. Knee pads are nice and unobtrusive. They are not lightweight. Wearing shorts with polypropylene long underwear on a 75° day you'll be hot.
Great fit. High quality. My one complaint is the suspender clips - hard to clip and unclip. Dont seem to line up with the super high quality of the rest of the waders
I was right in the middle of decision between XRM and larger because of foot lenght and girth size. I chose XRM to have a better fit and it fits great! I’m 183cm and 115kg. Waders feel comfortable. A little more thick material than my first waders and I love the padded knees.

Fits true to size and not restrictive or awkward when hiking. Has right amount of options for adjustments to get the fit just right. Breaths well even in warm days. Easy on and off.
This is my second pair on this wader. First time wearing it in high grass and bushwhacking through dried grasslands, inner side of lower leg part made a hole. This area on the legs should be more heavy duty in my opinion.
These are great midweight chest waders! Very high quality. I would suggest making the suspenders detachable and adding a tote bag to carry and store your waders in. Well done guys.
Overall excellent attention to detail and construction. Based on the sizing advisement on the website I purchased size MRM and found the waders cut in the crotch to be high. If you are 6' or taller I recommend going up in size.
I love these waders! Seriously the best pair of waders Ive ever worn. I fish cold waters such as pyramid lake periodically and they have enough room in them to layer up if need be. Extremely high quality wader. Waders come with good wading belt too. Clips to lace of boot so no need to wear a gravel guard with it. Only thing Ive noticed is the seam is a bit high in the crotch area, can be a bit uncomfortable.
Overall, I'm not very impressed with these waders. They seem to be made of durable materials and are comfortable once they are on. Waders
Poor sizing, cheap clips will break easily
I expected more value for the price from Patagonia
Hi Joseph, thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We're really sorry to hear about the disappointment with the quality of these waders. They're our heaviest weight most full featured waders so its unlikely that the clips will break without extended use and abuse. However, if they do we'd recognize this as a one off quality issue and we'd be happy to facilitate a warranty return. Nevertheless, your satisfaction is always guaranteed so you're welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html).

Very nice
Out of the box these waders looks great. Put them on and they are a great fit without too much excess material to create drag in the flow. Read More taking that big step up from the river or climbing boulders would be a bit harder than I like. I returned the waders and ordered a size MLM. The MLM has the same fit on the body but the extra length in the legs facilitates that big step up with much less effort.
These waders replace my Rio Gallegos and the Swift Current are a better fit on the body and they provide a little bit more storage space, which is just enough for the day when you want a couple of ours on the river but don't want to wear a coat or bring a bag.
They appear very sturdy but mine have only seen one outing so far so time will tell.
I am 6'5" and have been wearing XLL waders by Patagonia and other brands for 25 years (spanning 225 to 250 lbs over that time). These waders seem well made, and the seams are located in the right places, though time will tell.

Even maxed out, the waders pull upwards into my crotch for an uncomfortable fit, even standing still. Longer shoulder straps would fix this, or a longer torso design. I will find a local sew shop to add a 3-4" piece of webbing to lengthen the rear of the shoulder straps, which should fix the problem. Booties fit great, I wear size 14 in street and hiking shoes, and the booties fit me just barely (but adequately). In a very minor design quibble, not a fan of the long interior phone pocket, I'd personally prefer a horizonal gear pocket, but am probably in the minority on that. I look forward to putting these to the test. Definitely heavy duty
I am 6 5 tall (225-250 lbs over the years) and have been wearing XLL waders going on 30 years, mostly Patagonia and Simms. I fish or wear waders for work about 70 days each year. Just got these and the initial trip out was good. Great fit, Im on the edge of a small and medium. Was suggested to get the medium and the fit is exactly what I expected. Comfortable and well built wader. Time will tell how they hold up
The waders have a really nice fit and feels tough. It's a little difficult to comment on durability hence the are rather new. But the have a great fit with many good details.
Ordered MSM size (Medium - Shorth Length) with some emotions, but they fit me perfect (height 172 cm, weight 75 kilograms).
They seem to be build as the same good quality as Rio Gallegos which I hardly used for 3 years.
I can't wait 1 month to wet them!
Slender fit, a little too tight for heavy winter layering....requires careful fitting to find the size that works best. The Gallego fit is more comfortable and enables better mobility. Patagonia would have nailed it with the new design except for one major design flaw. When you loosen the front straps, the back strap also loosens and when you retighten, the back strap doesn't re-adjust and stays bunched up at the lower back. Hi Stephen, sorry to hear about the trouble with the rubber tri-glide on the back suspender causing issues. We changed from a smooth plastic cam lock to the rubber tri-glide. It's a bit tougher to pull back up, but the rubber helps it stay up once it's adjusted to the most comfortable position for you. You could tie a bit of cord to the hanging loop on the back of the wader top, then use that to pull it up while wearing the waders.
If that sounds like it would be too cumbersome for you, please do not hesitate to begin a return or exchange for the Men's Swiftcurrent Expedition Waders and you can begin that process here, https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html.

A Good Cold Weather Wader
The new Patagonia Swiftcurrent Expedition waders are certainly burly, and their heaviest weight wader among their collection. If attempted to wear in late spring through summer, you wil... Read Morel be overheating. And those new waders will become stinky real quick, nobody wants that!
This wader ran small on me, though I purchased based on measurements in the sizing chart. The crotch seat sat quite high, and for those of us who like to wear our waders at full height, (chest height and slightly above) you may run out of real estate down below. For me, the torso length just wasn't quite long enough. And I have an average torso length. Attempting to layer heavily under these in the winter proved to be a very tight fit around the crotch area as well. The knee pads are a nice touch, but again for me, made mobility stiffer, and in turn made the fit tighter. However, they are removable.
If you are in between sizes, I would recommend going with the larger size. This will aid in mobility, and also protect your waders seams and durability in the long run.
I believe this is a good product for those who it fits properly. Personally, I found the marketing to be confusing/misleading on its reality of seasonal use. I sense the product description may shift once again as the midweight has been launched. These were originally marketed towards the steelhead fisherman/woman etc.
Since the midweight standard swiftcurrents have been released, I have decided to go that route instead. Less bulk and weight to haul around all day, and should be better suited for the 12 month angler.
Thank you Patagonia for your innovative products, and even though this one doesn't suit my needs, you have created another that will.
Hi Austin, thanks so much for your detailed feedback! Your review has been passed along to the appropriate team.

Mixed Feelings
I want to love these waders but Patagonia has some work to do. First off lets start with the positive. These seem incredibly durable and the recycled material is actually very breathable. The features and pockets are so well thought out and the conversion to waist high that Patagonia uses is top notch. I wear XL Patagonia products across the board ... Read Moreaccording to the size chart the XLL would be perfect. The booties come in one size which is 12-14, a bit large for my 11.5 but that wasn't too big of a deal. The legs fit pretty well. Trim yet comfortable and allowed for good movement. The main issue is between the crotch and the upper region of the waders. The crotch is narrow and pronounced and quite frankly very uncomfortable, there isnt enough range of adjustment in the shoulder strap to alleviate the issue. The upper is absolutely massive and quite baggy. Not the consistent trim fit I am used to from Patagonia. Overall disappointed. I picked up a pair of the discontinued Rio Gallegos in a size Large King and they fit absolutely how a wader should. Patagonia is the best for wading equipment but please bring back the sizing that worked so well with the Rio Gallegos!
We are sorry to hear that aspects of these waders aren't working for you and we appreciate the thoughtful feedback on all of this. Your satisfaction is most important to us and if you'd like to [send](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) these back, please feel free to do so.
