Job Title:          Category Quality Specialist

Reports To:      Category Quality Management Lead

General Summary

Quality is at the core of Patagonia’s ethos and creating quality products is central to the Company’s mission statement to “save our home planet.” The Category Quality Specialist will help to create measurable ways to improve our products and share their love of instilling quality into the products we make. They will work in concert with Material Teams, Developers, Quality Engineering and Supplier Quality Management as well as Designers and Line Management to validate, uphold and communicate our standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate with Quality Engineering on testing to create/update quality standards
  • Work with material and trim teams to assess potential risks 
  • Turn the ‘Voice of the Customer’ into quality goals for new products 
  • Facilitate meetings with multiple teams to quickly resolve product issues
  • Track and analyze return data to advise product creators of potential for quality improvements
  • Ability to analyze and report on relevant data 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times noisy) work environment
  • Minimal domestic and international travel

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • BA Degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Quality including responsibility for creating & maintaining standards
  • Cross-functional collaboration, presentation and communication skills
  • Deep understanding of garment construction 
  • Broad understanding of tech packs and specifications
  • General comprehension of current laws/regulations in apparel
  • Knowledge of lean principals, Issue resolution and process improvement skills 
  • An understanding of the introduction of new products into the production environment
  • Working knowledge of personal computers with experience in the use of such programs as Word, Excel, Outlook and Access; Skills in Data Visualization software preferred
  • Able to work well under pressure and deadlines
  • Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to remain flexible to change within the work environment and scope of responsibility
  • Demonstrates initiative, and creative independent thinking​
