LOVE! SO COZY!
This jacket is absolutely fantastic. It fits as you'd expect and is warmer than I expected! I love that the sleeve cuffs are a stretchy material, it really helps keep warmth in. Good for causal wear, not ideal for performance gear
This is a super warm, really cute coat that is great for around town. It has a slightly cropped boxy fit. That works just fine on my petite frame. I purchased it to potentially wear under my ski shell, but decided to stick with a nanopuff. Its too bulky to layer.
So warm and comfortable!
I love this jacket. It is warm, comfortable, and really soft. I usually wear S in Patagonia relaxed fit jackets, but XS fits for this one. I probably would have gotten an S if they had it in store, but they were out of S and I loved it too much to pass on it. Puffy Perfection with size issues
Overall the material and feel of this jacket is luxurious. My only problem is with the fit. Hey Shelley, thanks for the review. We're sorry to hear of the issues you ran into with your Silent Down Jacket, it definitely sounds like you have a warranty issue on your hands. Absolutely love this jacket! Purchased it about two years ago in the colour 'century pink' and this is my third winter wearing it. I'm actually impressed!
I tried on quite a few puffers from various brands before almost giving up on the idea entirely. Where others were shaped oddly, sized inconsistently, or simply not cute enough, this one excels! The best jacket ever
I have been looking for something warmer and more comfortable than my down sweater for the last several years. This coat is it. The softest, most comfortable coat ever!
I've owned my Silent Down jacket since 2018 and it is STILL going strong, 4 years later. It is the softest and quietest down coat, making it super comfortable and my preferred coat for everyday wear. Perfect for living in Chicago and running errands, shopping, anything where you would need mobility and comfort while keeping warm and it's ... Read Morelightweight enough that you can take it off indoors while carrying it around without bulk or heaviness. The sleeve cuff is one of my favorite parts - it gives a great seal from the cold and wind, and gloves fit around it perfect so you don't get any coldness entering your arms. I wouldn't use this coat for skiing or hours-long winter exposure, as it isn't water proof or long enough to keep cold from your thighs and legs, but for those days I layer it under another thigh-length waterproof shell. Again, because of the lack of bulk and the softness of this jacket it is extremely comfortable to fit underneath another coat. It's easy to wash in the washer/dryer as long as you follow the instructions so I expect I'll be using this coat for another decade. In conclusion, this coat is used 85% of the time in the winter for me. For the 15% polar vortex or long activity days, I wear this underneath a waterproof, thigh-length shell from another parka I have and it's a very warm and comfy combo. Trust me - this is the coat you didn't know you needed.

Perfect weight for Fall
I absolutely love this jacket and own it in two colors. I bought the olive green color several years ago and wore it so much that I bought a blue version last year. Great all purpose down jacket
I've owned this coat for about 4 years now and the bottom line is it's great, I wear it all the time and it's held up well through years of use so far. Some stuff I like: 1. it's warm without being too warm or bulky - on the scale of down jackets i'd say this one is midweight and decent at blocking wind. On colder days I ... Read Moreput another warm layer underneath and use the cinch cords to keep cold wind out of the bottom of the jacket. The pockets are lined with a nice soft material to keep your hands warm. 2. Great for everyday wear but also works well for staying warm while camping or belaying. I primarily wear this as a casual winter coat but I've also taken it on many camping and climbing trips with good results. It obviously lacks some features of a more technical jacket, but I don't have the money to buy down jackets for every scenario so I've made this one work. 3. It's not loud and swishy when you walk, and it comes in nice colors. The shell fabric is really soft and doesn't feel plastic-y like some other puffers do. This thing is super squishy, I've even used it as a pillow on occasion. 4. It's durable. Like I said, I've owned this coat for 4 years now and can confirm that it holds up to wear well. I wouldn't pick this coat if I was going to put it through real abuse since it is a casual jacket with a nice soft outer shell fabric, but I've definitely scraped mine up a bit on branches and rocks while scrambling and haven't had any rips or tears. I wash it once or twice a year with down wash to clean and re-fluff it. Stuff I don't like: 1. I have the mustard yellow color and it stains more easily than some other jackets I've owned, probably because the material is soft and it's a lighter color. I get some discoloration on the cuffs and pockets from regular wear, although it does come out in the wash. I don't think this would be an issue with a darker color. 2. Sometimes I wish the pockets zipped for more security. The snaps work well enough but sometimes I get paranoid that I'm going to drop my keys or something.
Runs large - bring in XXS!
I once tried a Silent Down Jacket XS in store a while ago and it fit my small frame perfectly, like other Patagonia XS jackets. I didn't buy it then, and got the dusty red color when I saw it this year and goodness it is massive! I don't know if it was redesigned to be bigger or whatever but I'm swimming in it. Which is weird because... Read More the regular down jacket lineup was redesigned to be so narrow that the XS doesn't even fit me. Why so much inconsistency in sizes Patagonia! For a short style like this, you can make a slim fit because it doesn't cover our hips. For a longer style like the down sweater, it needs more room because women have hips. But you're doing the opposite! At least make an XXS here for us who love the soft fabric.

Great fit, but fabric gets SO dirty
I loved this jacket when I bought it - great cropped fit and nice and warm. However, the fabric picks up EVERYTHING. It is covered in stains just from normal, light use. I do wash it, and it looks better for a day or two, but then its back to looking grungy. Disappointing, because I love the sheer look of the fabric.

I really love this jacket. It is a good length for me, I am 5ft 10in. I tried a large on in store, but it felt a little off. I bought the xl online and I have to say that the length is awesome. The sleeves are a smidge too long, but I vastly prefer that over smidge too short sleeves on a jacket like this. Maybe what feels like a smidge too long to ... Read Moreme is what its supposed to feel like! My only concern is that the silent down fabric will stain easily. I have a toddler and Im prone to spills anyway. Im confident about getting even red wine out of white cotton shirts, but this blue down coat seems like it could stain easily since it is so soft. By the way, there are drawstrings at the base, so even though it is a little wide in the tummy, it can be drawn in to prevent airflow, or to add a little more shape.
Good But -zipper does not work
the zipper on my coat does not work I dont like how easy it gets dirty on the sleeve part and also I dont like that if i want to return it through shipping its going to be out of pocket. For the cost it isnt worth its the jacket is flattering and keep me warm which is why i made the purchase.

Hi Alice, thank you for your feedback! It is completely natural for some of the down to escape through the fabric, particularly in newer products when the down has not had the opportunity to settle. To minimize the amount of down that escapes, pull the down back into the jacket and massage the area to help the hole close up. Pockets are great, but the only thing I wish it had was zipper pockets rather than the snap pockets, which are more difficult to close, especially when you have something in your hand... Read Mores.
Toasty and Cute
I live in the mountains and would always like to wear a down jacket in winter - except many times my desire to not look like a puff pastry outweighs my desire for warmth. I get the best of both worlds with this jacket as I can look cute and still be toasty! I would highly recommend this jacket - love the length!
Super warm, super soft
I bought this for physically distanced seeing of friends outside in the colder winter temps--so mostly walking and sitting. I tried this on 20 times before returning it, because it felt so beautifully luxurious and it was so hard to decide. If I lived in a cold, dry place like Utah, I would've kept it in a heartbeat, however, I felt much more ... Read Morelimber/mobile in the Down Sweater. This really is a better jacket for casual wear, not activity. Also, at 5'2, the arms were a little long, the cuffs a little loose, and I imagined the sleeves would get dirty rather quickly. Still recommend, because it felt like wearing a pillow, but didn't make sense for me as my primary down.
