Protect the ocean so it can protect us
Our future is tied to the ocean. Its shared seas connect us through food, culture and sport. The home of amazing, abundant life, it’s also a powerful climate solution. Yet the practice of bottom trawling threatens to destroy this precious resource—bulldozing our ocean floor, undermining small-scale fisheries and deepening the climate crisis. Let's end this destructive practice, starting with an immediate ban in marine protected areas and inshore zones.

Pros- I love Patagonia longevity and craftsmanship. I have bought 3 other Patagonia wetsuits and they are all still running. I expect this wetsuit to fit well after I wear it for another few years...
Cons- It's like wearing a straightjacket. Super stiff and hard to paddle. I waited a few months to see how much it would loosen up and I'm h... Read Moreappy to report it has. I would guess you need to surf this 50-60 times before you appreciate the fit. The positive is that the extra stiffness will just make you that much stronger. Also, I bought a similar competitor suit at the same time (known for being "buttery smooth" and stretchy) and I have already have to take it in 3 times for repair because its built out of tissue paper.
Ok, hope that helps. Buy if you care (a little) about the environment and are willing to work (a little) in the water to prove it. Cheers
Everything fit on this wetsuit except the hand hole at the end of the arm. The hand hole was not only small it would not fit anything other than the tips of my fingers. And the hand hole would not stretch like you would expect. It was like it had a steel band around it. Needless to say, I had to return the suit. The replacement suit had the proper ... We're sorry to hear you got a defective suit, Richard! It sounds like you did get what you need. Please let us know if we can be of any further help!

Awesome wetsuit
This wetsuit is awesome. It fits similar to the medium Rip Curl wetsuits I've worn for years, but where the lining in those is a little itchy the lining in the Patagonia wetsuit feels like a nice fleece underlayer. Great mobility and is keeping me plenty warm in 50 degree F waters. My only (very minor) complaint is that the neck is slightly ti... I didnt realize what my last 3/2 was missing. This thing is warm. Fits well. And moves better in the shoulders for paddling compared to a cheaper 3/2 I have.
The quality of the suit is fantastic. I am 5'10" and 145 lbs. I normally wear a Rip Curl Heat Seeker in mens size medium. I tried an R1 in size medium and it was too large in the mid section. I went down to a size small and it fits snug/tight. I'm hoping that it will break in over time. I generally run on the cool side and plan to we... Read Morear a vest for winter surfing in SoCal. Love Patagonia values, quality and customer service. I have many Patagonia products for mountain climbing and have never been disappointed.
It is a good suit, warm for its thickness. The sustainable aspect was a plus, key when choosing between wetsuits from the same price range. After a year of use, the seam tape has started pealing and the blind stitches started to fail in some spots, letting cold water in. Ill take it to get repaired, which means I wont be able to use it for a while.... Read More Id focus on making suits more durable, keeping their sustainability aspect as is, and compromising its functionality if necessary: maybe having better stitched seams instead of glued.
so I'm mainly comparing with rip curl e bombs . this suit feels like quality on first contact. have not used it extensively yet, just a few hours but I love it so far.
to be critical I'd appreciate some sort of improvement on the key loop. made turn it into a pouch would make it safer to put an iPhone there for tracking purposes while k... Read Moreiting or wing foiling. I have been taking it on my hat velcro pocket and it is not comfortable.. by the way this review is for the R1 Full front zip wetsuit. my bad
The front zip is not for me. While I was able to get this suit on it took lots of helping hands. I could never do it in my own. Once on it was great but I regretfully had to return it and am waiting patiently for the back zip to come back in stock. From what I could tell the suit is the amazing quality you expect from Patagonia.
Loved the fit, stretch, and warmth right from the beginning. It's my first time wearing a wetsuit to surf and this suit is super comfortable. There was a little extra to many suits behind the knees, and the stitching on the neck panel did start coming out so I had to send it back for repairs only after about 5 uses. I wish it had held up bette... Read Morer having only used it a handful of times but overall very comfortable and stretchy.
Super soft interior and flexible yet snug build means you stay toasty in the lineup. Less shoulder burn when paddling than my previous Rip Curl suits too!
