Protect the ocean so it can protect us
Our future is tied to the ocean. Its shared seas connect us through food, culture and sport. The home of amazing, abundant life, it’s also a powerful climate solution. Yet the practice of bottom trawling threatens to destroy this precious resource—bulldozing our ocean floor, undermining small-scale fisheries and deepening the climate crisis. Let's end this destructive practice, starting with an immediate ban in marine protected areas and inshore zones.

Thrilled to find these; love the material, weight (light!), functionality, simplicity, color....and buying from Patagonia feels good as it has the added bonus of being a socially responsible choice. The only problem is when I actually got to hike they felt way too big for me on the trail! Got size 12, wish it was 10!
I bought these pants several years ago and have put them through the ringer and they are still hanging on. I use them to backpack, hike, rock climb, do yard/service work. I would encourage Patagonia to redesign how they sew back pockets into women's pants since all my back (seat) pockets have come unsewn from sitting on rocks no matter how many times or different ways I try to mend them.
This is the fourth pair of quandary pants over the years. I dont know the year quandary was introduced by Patagonis, but my oldest pair is old. All four pairs are size 10. The first three pairs the inseam was 31 inches. This year, the inseam was either 30 inches (short) or 32 inches (long). I got the 32 first, but they were way too long. I exchange... Read Mored them for 30 inch (short). These pants are baggie through the legs. Not like the old quandary pants, at least that is my perception. Could it be that Patagonia made the size ten for a shorter and a little bit larger woman. I dont know, but I will only wear these pants on the trail. Who cares about the baggieness on the trail. But for around town, Ill keep them in the closest.
Hi Catherine, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the Quandary Pants. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the fit not meeting your expectations.

Comfy and Fit Well
Super comfy with great pockets. Wasn't sure about the inside cinch belt, but gives better fit. Ordered a 12 and exchanged for a 10 regular. They feel just a teeny bit long, but they really aren't. Glad I got 2 pairs. Look good after several wears. Exchange process was fast and flawless.
Purchased size 14 to fit my larger thighs, and the fit is perfect. These pants are lightweight and very comfortable. Needed lightweight, long pants for an upcoming vacation, and these will be perfect for both the plane rides and adventure! The day they arrived, I tried them on, wash them, and wore them - so comfortable!
I did a lot of painting outside this July and these pants were a perfect foil for the humid, sunny days when jeans would have been much too heavy. Love these pants. I do like the drawstring but may be better in a stronger & less stretchy elastic. They are stretchy & comfortable under a climbing harness. Love that the legs can be rolled up & buttoned above the calf. These are my go to climbing pants for unpredictable weather on long days in the Black Canyon.
I love these pants, I did have to take the waist in a bit but I will take that because these pants are long enough for me! Wow! Patagonia, please keep making these pants. If there is ever a last year, I hope you are able to let us know well in advance. These are just a classic fit I expect I could wear forever.
These pants are very comfortable. Unfortunately my experience was these pants fit in the store they have since stretched around the waist so much that i can now fit a fist and are too loose to wear comfortably even with the cord. They fit well everywhere else and they are so close to being perfect but for me now they are unusable.

These pants were my next stop in my journey to replace my beloved and discontinued Escala Rock Pants. They're no replacement but I bought a second pair for hiking. Men have those stunning twill "jeans" (my husband has several pairs) that work for casual or business. Women get thin, stretchy pants and sweats? Very comfortable
Should offer the same colors in the short as well as regular. Im in between sizes and it stinks to only have two colors of a pair of pants
I love these pants and bought originally size 10 but needed an 8 so they run a little large. These slacks are well made and very comfortable. I wear them to do biking, walking, and everyday casual. I wish I had each color.
The pants I bought are comfortable and made of an easy care material. They are perfect for long airplane rides. I bought my large enough I can wear long underwear under them to extend their use.

Great pants for hiking, light and flexible. They run small. All my Patagonia ski pants are size small. I usually buy size 4 in other pants but these I needed a size 6.

I love these pants! The fit around the waist and hips are perfect, the cut is classic, the fabric is light stretchy but durable! They are incredibly comfortable!! They could be worn hiking or to work!!! fantastic pants!! Great job Patagonia!!
Like the womens style and fit better than the mens style. Length is just right, and the leg fit is better. Fabric is super comfortable and durable. Wear this or the 5 Quandary shorts nearly every day. Pockets are excellent and securely hold an iPhone 13 Pro.
I love the Quandary shorts and decided to try the Quandary Hiking Pants. They are perfect for chilly fall and spring hikes. I do a lot of off-trail hiking, and this fabric will not snag on rocks and sagebrush.
My daughter loves these pants. She puts them to hard use backpacking in the San Juans of southwest CO and desert trips in Utah. They fit well, and fit women with curves and muscles!
I was initially looking for the Traveler pants based on reviews. I went to my local store and they weren't in stock. I tried the Quandry pants on and WOW! just about perfect
These pants are very comfortable and look great as casual wear and in more formal events. My only suggestion is to make the pockets bigger. I walk several miles a day and like to take along my phone and a wallet. They dont fit these small pockets.
When I told the super sales guy that I needed great hiking pants for a long trip, he said, Quandary. Theyre perfect, look good, comfortable, wash nicely, keep their style, can dress up or down. Liking them a lot.
These would be wonderful if they werent high waters on me. Why are womens tall inseam hiking pants so difficult to find? Especially for the hiking pants that look cool and chic enough to wear to a nice dinner or travel with. Purchased this for my 15 year old daughter who likes to stay in boys pants as long as possible. Talked her into this pair and she loves it! Fits very well and she likes to wear it to school and on hikes.
Hi Im 55 and 135 lb. I usually wear an 8. In pants. These were very big on me. I returned them and ordered 3 pairs of 6s. One fit well and 2 were too tight to button. Loved the fabric and the pant but they have to get the fit consistent.

Comfortable and versatile
Lightweight, great for outdoor activities and travel. Many pants are too high-waisted for me. These fit great.
This is my second pair because I wear them so often. Very comfortable with just the right amount of roominess so there's no binding, but fit is flattering. Elastic inner drawstring cord is great - gently holds pants at a comfortable waist fit, whether on an empty stomach or after a huge meal. Washes well over and over.
Sufficiently business-like to wear to active work. Very comfortable & great colors. Loosen slightly with wear. Lightweight fabric dries quickly. Tights underneath in cold.

I would have given these hiking pants a 5 star review if the side leg zip pocket was just a tad deeper so my iPhone fit in there with the pocket zipped. But the fit is great, and I like the NOT-narrowed-down cuffs. I have long legs for my height and I was not sure that the 32 inseam would be long enough. It is perfect, a good thing in that there w... Read Moreas no Long version.
I expect to wear these pants for years.
Using the size chart was misleading, I would recommend going down a size. Pay attention to the inseam length. Very comfortable, after a good day I find myself lounging and forgot I hadn't put on my evening sweats. I also recommend a wider more structured waist band. These are a 5 star; any imporvement would just make them even better.
I am a size 4 in pants except for my waist which is apparently somewhat big for my size, so that is often a problem for me in buying pants. I am really loving these pants. I especially adore the little drawstring in the waist. I have fuller hips and a smaller waist, and finding pants that fit me in both spots is really hard. These fit the bill just right. Thank you, Patagonia! Please make more colors in these :)
I bought these to replace my 12 years old Quandary pants. I had worn them frequently for hiking and while they werent worn out I had quite a bit of sap on backside and to be honest, I just wanted some new ones! Read More problem finding pants long enough but these are perfect in length! The fabric is light and durable and it has a bit of give to it. The ONLY negative about these pants, and the reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5, is the difference in rise from my old pair to the new; it has become significantly shorter. The older pair sat closer to my natural waist which I loved whereas the newer pair sits lower on the hip, below my belly button. Im not a young female, not old but I have a womans figure and would prefer it if these were made with the higher rise as on my older pair. Not sure why Patagonia changed that? That said, I still love these hiking pants, the quality is unmatched! For reference, Im 56 and 128lbs; I purchased a size 4. I highly recommend them!
I love these trousers.. so comfortable, I’ve been wearing them non stop. I originally purchased the convertible pants, however the zipper restricted movement and was not as comfortable as these. These pants are super stretchy, great for climbing and hiking alike. I am very happy with my Patagonia purchase.
I'm a 14 in winter and a 12 in summer, generally. It's ok, I love the pant and the packability. They wear well, super quick dry and protect from the bugs. I've even sprayed the pant with bug protector and no issues with pant quality. Love the Forge Grey, and hoping for dark charcoal or black soon!
Fit is very nice- I like that it is forgiving in the waist so it doesn't constrict my stomach even when sitting. I got the short size since I am 5'2"- I appreciate that a short size is offered!

I have older versions of these pants, which I love - but on this new pair the zipper pocket on the leg is far too small to accommodate an iPhone. Because of that, mine got dunked in a stream when it fell out of the pocket. Why the change in design???

Best Summer Work Pants Ever!
I work for a kayak manufacturer. I spend 75% of my time in an office setting and 25% of my time on the factory floor. In the summer, the factory floor is a sweltering place. This is the second pair I got: they fit perfectly, they are super comfortable and light weight and shed water and dirt: perfect for an active life.
Love them! Make them in an additional color besides tan and grey and I will buy a third pair!
I actually liked these pants better than I expected to. Very comfortable to just sit around in. Nice to wear at the barn during the summer, doing horse stuff other than riding, as they are so much cooler than wearing jeans.
I wanted light pants to use for hiking and camping. I love the pockets on these pants and found the fit to be comfortable. I did order a size up, based on reviews, and that fits well. I have an older pair of these with pockets on both thighs. Highly useful. Patagonia - please bring back (even on Skyline) duel pockets and consider the usefulness of these items. I love that these are water repellant (a must when I'm watering or adjusting irrigation), plus they keep me cool... or rather, they don't make the hot conditions any worse. LOVE these pants
I absolutely love these pants. They are my very favorite, as hiking pants, and for regular wear. They are comfortable, perfect for when it’s hot, or when it’s cool outside, and the pocket holds my large iPhone perfectly. And they have held up one year later, even with all the wearing. I like them so much, I had to buy another.
First purchase of these pants were to large. Even with long under ware underneath. I returned them and bought 2 sizes smaller. Perfect fit, even with long johns! Nice pair of pants!
I bought these for hiking, but have also worn them to work as there are no huge pockets or zippers that would make them look strictly utilitarian. VERY comfortable!
The fit and fabric are good. I am 5’9” and 140 and usually take a 10 or medium. The fit was fine. The pants will work well for a Thailand trip in December.
I love how these pants fit, and I have actually had several people ask me what kind they are. They are lean, but not too body-hugging. Light-weight. I have the grey and recently purchased the green - which I wish were less yellowish and more bluish. in hue. It would be nice id Patagonia also made them in Black.
Just received my new pants. They fit PERFECT! I am 5'5" 120lbs and ordered Size 4 Short...I have short legs and was worried they would be too long in Regular...they are PERFECT! My husband even commented on how great they are. I will be ordering MORE from Patagonia as this is my first purchase. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
