Kinda Large

Happy overall

Was considering a number of competitors but bought this as I prefer synthetic for the quick drying properties. Most reviews were pretty good too. Only downside is the size - I am 6" but the XL recommended was just a little too big especially around the stomach area. Very warm though.

Great jacket for all occasions.

I bought this jacket to replace a similar synthetic jacket I bought about 4 years ago from another company that has since worn through. I’ve found synthetic downs to be a really great addition to your wardrobe; they hold up relatively well in wet weather, they keep you warm, can easily be added and removed, and pack small. They also double up well ... Read Moreas a pillow if you stuff them into their own pocket which has come in handy on a few long flights in the past! I chose this one as I had been told in the shop it has multiple torn pieces of the insulation fabric inside the jacket (creating a similar effect to the way feathers do when they’re packed into a down jacket) where as the other synthetic type has a single layer of the insulation running throughout. I’ve not seen inside the jacket to confirm but what I will say is this is a lot warmer than my previous one. The black isn’t too shiny yet isn’t matte, but does go with everything. I’ve worn this with formal attire to the office and with my shorts and vans at the weekend. The fabric has held up really well so far and there’s no tears or anything despite chasing the dog through overgrown brambles! It’s a smooth finish on the outside so you can slide another layer over the top quite easily should you require it. The hood doesn’t get in the way if you throw another jacket over either, something I was a little worried about. Instead it kinda wraps itself around the back of your neck which keeps you warm. Then again you can put it up but I rarely do to be honest. The only thing I would alter is the size; I like my warm layers to be quite snug to the body therefore maximising the warmth but I’ve found in doing so it’s a little tight on the shoulders which I haven’t experienced in other Patagonia gear of the same size. I’m an athletic build with a flat tummy and broad upper, but by no means ripped, yet it can feel a little tight across the rear of the shoulders in some movements. I do only ever wear a t-shirt under this though so if you’re thinking about layering up with this as an outer I’d edge on the side of caution and get the larger size. Overall I think if you’re looking for a jacket to take travelling, to keep in your bag just in case, to wear whenever and whatever the occasion, then this is it. It’s more expensive than rival brands but for me it’s a staple of my wardrobe and because I can get it repaired at Patagonia any time in the future, it’ll pay for itself. Also supporting 1% for the planet.

Light, nice cut and warm

light and fits really comfortable. could honestly sleep in this thing. good outer layer for the fall and nice inside later for colder months. highly recommend. worth the price.

Fits like a glove

I havent used on a trip yet but have a nano puff. This fits even better and the good seems perfect for an extra layer in the hammock. Cant wait to try this baby out on a real test run.

Great buy

I got this at 50% off. Super lightweight but warm with a tee shirt at 34*.

Instant warmth, instant comfort

I love everything about this jacket, literally everything. The only things that you should keep in mind before purchasing are 1) the finish on the material makes it kind of like wearing a trash bag hahaha. It doesn't bother me at all, because honestly it's soft and water repellant and more like my $200 sleeping bag - but some people might... Read More see it differently. 2) I'm about 6' tall and 225lbs and the large was perfectly fitted to my arms and torso, this is probably what most people want, especially for layering or being active outdoors -but I could have used maybe 1or2 more inches vertically down from my waist. I've got love handles haha and this jacket risks exposing them if I'm really stretching vertically during climbing or hanging. It can be a drag to feel like you have to pull your jacket down all the time. Other than that I'm super stoked on this thing and I feel like it's very expensive but for good reason, it's one of the only jackets you'll ever need - if you take care of it. I plan to use this as a mid layer and packed single layer on days with big temp swings, but I'm not really sure how it will hold up to vines with thorns, abrasion from sliding across rocks or getting snagged on rough wood surfaces like docks tree trunks and the like. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's easily repairable.

Perfect weight to warmth

I've had many Patagonia Nano Puff items over the years, but this micro puff is noticeably lighter and seems warmer. Great jacket! Wish they made it in a quarter zip pullover as well.

Great range of use in different temps.

All good - room to layer or wear with a t-shirt in cooler mornings

Light and warm but odd fitting

6'-2" 185 lbs. The sleeves and torso length on the size large were too short. The XL is spot on with length but added about 6" of flop and unnecessary volume to the torso. Warm Synthetic Down

Great piece for the warmies kit. Packs down nicely. Can be worn with layers underneath and above. Hood is form-fitting and meant to be worn under helmets. Dries quickly and still insulates with some dampness.

I take this thing everywhere always

It seemed like total hype (a better puffy, whatever) but I'm really attached to this thing. Super warm great layering micro puff products

Bought this for my soul mate's birthday. He has the vest, jacket also other colors of the micro puff line. That's what he wares most all the time, other than summer heat!

Warm & Lightweight

I have used this jacket throughout Spring and Summer in Kentucky thus far. It is by far the lightest jacket I have ever worn. Great coat for a person who lives life on the go

non-existent comfort

Wearing this hoody is comparable to what I call non-weather days - those days when you are just free to do without even noticing the weather. This jacket is so light it is like wearing air. If larger muscled get the large - I do not like feeling any tightness around my shoulders.

This has been a great jacket for so many things from fishing and hiking to the office. Definitely a solid buy.

Worth Upgrading from a Nano Puff

I love this jacket, I have a daily rotation from the Nano Puff and Micro Puff. Although the Micro is more shiny and puffy. I think its worth the upgrade. Its a little warmer in my opinion and the pockets are a bit higher which helps my size. Either way they both look great!

So good in so many ways, but the pockets...

This is a great jacket. Its extremely light, very warm, and very comfortable. It blocks the wind, and it handles very light rain easily. Lovely and soft, not too rustly, and warm enough to add a boost when you're feeling the cold.

Lightweight Furnace

The scientists at Patagonia have cracked the code, this thing is inexplicably warm for how thin and lightweight it is. Perhaps my favorite jacket ever

Since 2008 Ive been wearing my much loved down sweater hoody. This year, despite trying to be a minimalist, I decided to upgrade. Im 60, 200 lbs. I could wear the L, but it was a little snug in the shoulders, so I went with the XL, which is slightly loose in a comfortable way. Fantastic new favorite!!!

Amazin warmth to weigh ratio

The micro puff is by far the best lightweight insulation I've worn. Surprisingly warm and packable. Sadly, Mixed Feelings

I have mixed feelings about the Micropuff. It is a beautiful piece and I really wanted to love it because I need something light and packable, halfway rainproof and warm when the temp drops. Thought this jacket would be it. Sadly, it seems a bit on the thin side. It sure looked a little loftier on the Patagonia site. And making matters worse I can ... Read Moresee lots of pinholes at every sewn corner where it was pieced together. I can even see through the stitching in many areas where the wind will surely come calling. I suppose that would be okay if the jacket had a light inner layer to ward off the air flow through those holes. I'm not a clothes designer, so maybe they're there for a reason. But it seems to me that if I can see through the stitching the jacket's not going to perform or hold up very well over time. A few other irksome details for me: the outer zip pockets are set a little too high for a jacket that for my size is a about three to four inches too long. Sending it back.

I got what I was expecting. I have not yet tested it in very cold conditions, but I bought it for the light weight and it is what I wanted. Internal zip handle in the stowing pocket could be a little bigger.

February 13, 2020

Outstanding piece

I rarely feel compelled to write reviews but this jacket and its designers deserves to have its praises sung. Almost perfect

I have had my micropuff since December of 2018. The warmth to weight ratio of this jacket is incredible. I’d like to hear from a Patagonia rep why they chose to not have a helmet compatible hood.

My favorite light-weight jacket!

It's hard to believe a jacket this light can be so warm. I wear it more than any other jacket because its so light, packable, sylish and most importantly warm! I'm usually a minimalist in my clothing but I have three different colors in this jacket because I wear it every day in the cold months.

I wore it during my successful attempt of the Rapha Festive 500 in Colorado (A challenge to cycle 500k between Christmas and New Year’s), where temperatures dropped to -14f. I wear it skinning in the backcountry and up the resorts early in the mornings. I unzip it going up and just zip it up when skiing down. This is an amazing jacket for those who are always moving. I think I would need more if I were sitting around in the cold. But, why would I do that? ;-) Sorry, no photos......

Great packable warmth

This jacket is great for your layering kit bag, I pair it with a Houdini in the rain, and if I need more warmth a R1 Hoodie. My only ding is that on mine it seems like they didn't put any insulation in some of the baffles on both elbows so I get cold spots on both arms right above the elbow. A weird place for cold spots.

Great coat, fits a little large

Patagonia needs a slim fit/athletic cut for some of these jackets. I love everything about my new coat, except the cut. It bunches up awkwardly in front, and it's wide in the sides. MS Micro Puff problems

I regretfully write this I say regret as I am a avid Patagonia supporter but I am very very disappointed for my long awaited purchase of this jacket only to have the filling continually surface through the seams of my jacket. Very frustrating and quit annoying.

Response from Patagonia
January 8, 2020

Hey there, thanks for the review and we are so sorry to hear that the insulation is leaking through those seams. Just like down, plumes sometimes come through stitch holes, so too does the PlumaFill insulation come through the stitch holes at times. If you’re dissatisfied, please feel free to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html#searchterm=return) it and we can exchange for a [Nano Puff](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-nano-puff-hoody/84222.html?dwvar_84222_color=CNY&cgid=root&isSearch=true#q=nano%2Bpuff%2Bhoody&lang=en_US&start=1) that doesn’t have this problem like down or PlumaFill. To fix it yourself, for small instances, were it is tiny individual fibers, you can break them off. If it is a larger white clump of insulation, we suggest you try to pull it back into the jacket by pinching it from behind and pulling the fabric forward. You can also cut the larger white clump with scissors, but be extremely careful not to cut the fabric or the stitch.

I’ve been holding out on getting a light weight puff for a while, but have enjoyed it just about every day I’ve had it. Great warmth for weight, cold spots in weird places

I love this jacket for many reasons, the least of which is its warmth. The jacket’s hood is the best hood I’ve ever had on a jacket. The only think I dislike is the main zipper. It occasionally gets caught on the flaps behind it, and I wonder if a larger YKK zipper would preclude this. I’m also worried about the durability of the pockets in terms of car keys.

I really like this jacket, it ends up being a great level of warmth in Leadville, CO. I can't comment on durability after a week... but I can say I do appreciate the moderate amount of wind-resistance this layer has. The weight/bulk are obvious strengths as well. Ultralight & Activity Neutral Insulator

I have replaced my Nano Air and Nano Puff with the Micro Puff Hoody. Adept at any application (backcountry touring, fly fishing, hiking, camping, every day jacket) this jacket is an easy insulation piece to throw in your kit. High's: super lightweight, water resistant, wind resistant, fit/finish, simplicity, packability. Low's: breathabil... Read Moreity, outer shell is very delicate. Regarding the low's - I still rely on my Nano Air if/when breathability is the first consideration. That said, this piece is an outstanding go-to mid layer or outer layer in temp's above 20 (IMO). I appreciate the warmth and compression (which resembles down) and the ability to shed weather and offer warmth when wet. The jacket also dries quickly, and efficiently, whether in a sleeping bag and/or simply hanging for a brief moment, especially in a light breeze around camp. When fly fishing, be thoughtful as the shell is thin/light and a poor cast will inevitably create a tear/puncture. To be honest, branches and/or anything with a rougher edge too it can cause damage. I have had no issue making small repairs with tape, glue, etc. - other than cosmetic implications. My favorite attributes, this piece is extremely packable (for its warmth) and is in both my touring pack and my fishing pack (or hanging off my waist pack). Super light and delivers quick warmth when needed. Under a softshell or hardshell, the BTU's rise. Just be aware that the garment doesn't breath well and plenty of ventilation is absolutely needed if/when you are moving fast. When fishing, the finish sheds weather and there is no concern when submerging your forearms into the drink. I have found a quarterly wash with a 'tech wash' revives the shell to its original form. Be cautious around campfires as embers will quickly leave their mark. To date, this is my favorite light/warm/compressible and weather resistant piece from Patagonia. I find myself grabbing this jacket every time I am heading out. I still prefer to wear the Nano Air or an Atom LT on the skintrack, but this jacket is generally off the coat hook and with me. Definitely worth the price as long as you remember what it does best. Fits true and the simplicity of the hem/cuff is a welcome finish. I am 6'2 and the XL is right on point.

M-Puff Surprise!

Well, I finally bought the Micro Puff Hoody, in spite of my suspicions about its warmth and innovativeness being overstated by Patagonia. Read Moren. Perhaps a better comparison would have been to the Nano Puff, which it far exceeds in all parameters, but the Nano Air, just a couple of years back was treated by Patagonia as the new standard of flexible synthetic warmth, so the comparison between the two seemed more appropriate. In any event, I now admit to having misjudged Patagonia’s design and marketing goals. The Micro Puff exceeded my expectations in that it’s not only as good or better then the Nano Air in the insulation category, but as a casual outer jacket, it’s more wind and weather-resistant then the Nano Air, which is, of course, more breathable by design. Both products fabric’s are delicate, and the M’Puff, perhaps, more so. But, where the M’Puff truly outshines the Nano Air is in the weight, bulk and packability departments. And, one can’t but end-up loving the Micro Puff’s cloud-like weight and down-like aesthetic. My apologies to the design team for questioning the brilliance of this wonderful package!

If weight isn't as important as durability, this may not be a good choice for you. Feel free to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html#searchterm=return) that and check out some of our other options!

Absolute favorite

This jacket by far is my go to. I own several nano puffs and down sweaters and this out performs both of them! So close, yet so far

Boy, I really really wanted this to work out! This is the only Patagonia product I've ever returned. Pros. I need this is an incredibly light and warm jacket. Read Moreout cold. I bought this jacket during a month of record - 20 weather and properly layered it was amazing! Cons Shell is incredibly delicate. Day one I had a tear on the forearm from leaning on a bar. The way the insulation is on a string meant that it was then pulling out at a really fast rate. Threads began to pull out of the jacket all over and in a week I had several repairs to do. This jacket is only a 10d shell so I wasn't expecting to run through a bunch of brush with it but general easy casual use I expected it to last a week. Because of the Temps that week I wore a will base layer and a shell over top and I was good to go so if you're only using this under a shell it should be perfect. I love the trim fit around the middle and the tighter arms but the way the shoulders were cut up to the neck leaves a weird horn looking space on your chest. The collar is shorter in the back and rises in the front almost like it's intended to be a mouth shield but the neck is quite tight. I did like the tall collar for wind but you can't zip it up. Overall I really wanted this jacket to work and wanted the light weight. I bought it for traveling, and for a insulating layer under my motorcycle gear. I am on the road in Montana winters and was hoping this would be the perfect packable jacket. In the end I returned it for another nano puff. Here's hoping the second version of this jacket has a more durable shell.

We greatly appreciate the helpful feedback on this and we are sorry to hear that this didn't end up working out for you. How jackets compare

I have a bunch of Patagonia jackets. This is how this one fits in. Down Sweater- Good for around town. Well made and fairly warm. Neo air- Excellent for cross country skiing and high output exercises. Not wind resistant- I wear a Houdini on top to keep wind at bay but then it can overheat. I wear this most often. Micro- Very surprised with how well it works. Wore it cross country skiing and the arms got wet from sweat, but it was on the outside of the fabric and dried pretty quickly when I stopped. I think it will be a great backpacking coat since I did not sweat just hiking no matter how fast I went. Good wind resistance. I was surprised how warm it was with the hood up. It is not as warm as the down sweater, but for backpacking it will work well. No construction problems I see after a dozen wears. I like the tight hood- I never wear a helmet and this could go under one anyway. This is the best choice when light weight and a wide range of activities is anticipated. The sweater is a better choice for every day use.

The insulation is indeed super light and quite warm, not there with the best down but getting close. This Jacket lives up to the hype

I bought this jacket because it fit me better than the ultralight down jackets I already own and I like the flexibility that a synthetic gives me in the wet. I was a bit skeptical though based on the reviews I’ve read online. Many of these reviews claim that it doesn’t offer the warmth of down. I guess it depends on how extreme an environment you e... Read Morexpect to use this garment, but I’ll briefly write about my use of it. I recently went to Tahoe in one of the worst storms in a decade. My friend got his SUV stuck in the snow and could not get out. I spent 2 hours shoveling snow and pushing his car in 20 degrees weather in nothing but the micro puff and a t-shirt. I definitely wasn’t cold. And even hours later when we freed his car, and my body cooled due to the lack of activity, I was still feeling fine at 20 degrees. I don’t know how cold it would need to drop before it felt uncomfortable, but I wouldn’t expect more from a 9oz synthetic anyways. And even with the DWR coat, 2 hours in a snowstorm wasn’t enough to keep this thing dry. This jacket was definitely wet by the end of the night, but it stayed warm. I doubt my down jackets would’ve kept me warm if they took on that much moisture. Yes, I understand that anyone can just throw a shell on top of their down and it’ll be fine, but sometimes in a pinch, you throw one jacket in your bag in case the weather unexpectedly goes south. For me, that one jacket will now be the micro puff.

Deceptively Good

I can only speak for myself, but this jacket is surprisingly good. After SO much hype, and having read a lot of negative reviews, I decided to spring for it anyway, and I am not disappointed. Anyone in Utah knows this has been a rougher winter than others in recent memory, and as I student I do quite a bit of walking outside in the 20's withou... Read Moret sun and with a stiff breeze. This jacket has managed to be surprisingly windproof, breathable, and warm below freezing. I am stoked to get it into the backcountry, because it is almost as light as my previous down, but it's warmer and synthetic! Now when I see the hype, I get it. PROS: - Deceptively warm. I consider the hype well deserved in regards to this piece's ability to insulate like a down jacket at this weight. I have used down exclusively for over 20 years of backpacking, and this jacket alone has now changed that. (My most recent were a Stoic Hadron Anorak followed by a MH Ghost Whisperer) - Impressively wind-proof. This isn't a shell, but the unique baffling lends itself to better wind-resistance than I have gotten in any of my UL insulating layers. Walking in 20deg with 8-10mph winds is no problem with a t-shirt underneath. Throw on a flannel instead and you are toasty. - Pocket placement is better than the Ghost Whisperer and they are deeper, which I appreciate. - The cut is such that this makes a great casual piece. CONS: - Some Plumafill is leaking through. It is VERY little (unnoticeable if it weren't a black jacket), and I have only had the jacket a few weeks, so this is fairly normal for any jacket using loose insulation (like down). Hopefully it slows down like it's supposed to. - The snug hood isn't great for casual wear, as it looks a little goofy, precludes having headphones on underneath, and may mess up your hair. - Some who prefer an extensive layering system will find the cut poorly suited for this (particularly in the arms). I personally wear only a t-shirt underneath with a thin layer on top of that if it's really chilly and this functions perfectly in this use case.

Genuinely lives up to the hype

I had a micro-puff hoody from 2012 that was my go-to winter insulation layer. I read all the reviews when the new one came out and wasn't quite convinced - it couldn't really be that much better, could it? It is. It definitely is. It's lighter, warmer and more comfortable. It's my new go-to insulation. It packs tiny and it&#x2... Read More7;s suitable for a pretty wide range of temperatures. I always worry about the puncture/tear resistance of ultra-light materials and this was no different. I've worn it a bunch though, and it's still intact. I'm pleasantly surprised with the durability. If you don't plan on wearing the hood often consider the jacket version - when not deployed the hood kind of pulls the top zipper ends up around my chin a little. It seems to fall back too far down my back. I like the hood though, it's comfortable and effective. The elastic cinch band in the hood is enough for my needs - the old one had a toggle that was annoying. This is an improvement in the hood department. One comment seemed to suggest it runs a little small, but that hasn't been my experience. I'm 5'8" and 165ish and the medium is about perfect. My favorite Patagonia item for the last 30 years has been the Synchilla Snap-T. Those things last forever. I don't see the micro-puff stealing the top spot, but it's way up there. Maybe even second place.

Hoody has many advantages, but has few imperfections. First - stiff zipper line, if you close it and move a little, zipper may arch like a hump, and hoody look not good :) If you wear hood, shoulders of hoody go up in neck area and look strange.

Above that maybe skip the fleece. It's almost too warm to layer! (That's like having too much money...) But it packs so small and it's so light you will bring it anyway. Good ultralight synthetic insulation layer

I bought the Micro Puff when it was first released and have used it for one year. 5'10", 155 lbs athletic build, and as with all Patagonia stuff the size M is right on. I needed an ultralight synthetic insulation jacket for ski touring, hunting, and campus in Western Montana. That's what I got. This jacket is minimalist in concept, a... Read Morend so has no chest pocket or adjustment mechanism at the hem, cuff or hood. I mostly like the simplicity. It does indeed save not only on weight but also on packability: when stuffed into it's pocket for storage, this thing is a little shorter and little fatter than a 32 oz Nalgene, and is featherweight. The PlumaFill is warm but you extract the most BTU's out of this jacket when you don't layer excessively. Like a sleeping bag, it needs air space to create and maintain warmth. Whenever I can, I wear it with short sleeves and maybe a light vest underneath, or at most a 150 weight merino baselayer. If you layer excessively, the insulation gets compressed and there's no air space for warmth, and it becomes useless at that point. Plus, the material feels good against the skin. So, if you're looking for a lighter puffy to throw on over a bulky button down around town, this probably isn't it. I ripped the shell material, as happens with these kinds of jackets, and repaired with black GoreTex adhesive-backed patches, and it's good to go. My main complaint is the hem. While I understand the omission of a drawcord and toggles for weight saving and simplicty, it's just a bit too tight, and I feel like it's always kind of grabby and riding up. At any rate, overall a great jacket for it's intended purpose, and I'll be curious to see if they tweak it all over time.

October 4, 2019

Thanks for the feedback on this and we are sorry to hear that the fit isn't working well for you. The Micro Puff is our lightest, most packable insulated jacket, and was designed with a minimalist intent to achieve that. This includes using pre-charged elasticized hem and cuff/armhole constructions to lock in heat instantly, without the need to make adjustments. As compared to typical adjustable parts, this minimizes the weight, complexity and vulnerability of breakable parts. However, this can sometimes result in armholes squeezing tighter than usual, or hemlines riding up while in motion. In larger sizes, it can also result in a poor fit at the hemline, especially if you’re hip to high waist difference is dramatic. We welcome you to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html#searchterm=return) this and try something with a bit more familiar fit like our Nano Puff.

Read Moreentioned does give up more than I expected. I like the ratio of warmth for weight, reasonable wind blocking, and moderate rain resistance it offers and it already gets a lot of use in New England early winter conditions as low as the teens at night and we expect highs in the 20s this week so it will get a test. No problem with a sweater under but will have to see with a shirt. What I love - packable, feather light, comfort, style. I often end up wearing it much longer than I need to around the house because it's so comfortable. I suspect that as a liner under my goretex wading jacket in a February downpour it will keep me on the river in comfort. It is perfect for getting from the parking lot to the gym over workout clothes and compresses in the gym bag. I stuffed it into the dry pack on the boat as well when the mid-day sun warms the air. Not as warm as my winter down but a good middle ground. What needs improvement - no zip pocket for phone, already seeing some filling puffs at seams needing care, inside shell of slash pockets very thin and no insulation, hood is the scuba-cap design so options are warm and goofy or casual and cold neck (cinch option on bigger opening would be nice). Would like to see: inside zippers within the slash pockets to access pockets in inner layer (since the fabric is so thin you can feel everything inside your vest pockets but not access them. Horrible Fit

The fit of this jack is awful. You cannot raise your arms at all. The way the area near the armpits are cut somehow prevents you from raising your arms without pulling up the entire jacket. And I'm not talking about raising your arms to the ceiling, I'm talking about raising them enough to be level with your chest. How could Patagonia mak... Thanks for the feedback on this and we are sorry to hear that the fit didn't work out for you. We understand that this can result in some people having a hard time finding the right fit and we suggest taking a look at our Nano Puff as it will have a much more familiar fit to most of our synthetic jackets.

Almost perfect - still a keeper

Really a breakthrough garment. Featherweight. Superlight fabric so perhaps a bit fragile. There are burlier jackets in the line if you desire. The front zipper goes low, so could the side pocket zips. Maybe sometimes you can't open fully but that's ok. Bigger pocket zips would make the inside out stuff pouch work better, at least for the XL.

Perfect, lightweight, warm.

I would have given 5 stars but the pockets are too high. Picky on my part, but for 299 dollars I want perfection. It weighs so little, yet is so warm. I live in Maine and we already have had cold nights. It stands up well to low temps. The hood is perfect for having a helmet over it.

Thanks for the feedback you've provided on sizing and we are sorry that this didn't work out for you. Sizing on our Micro Puff has posed a bit of a challenge for us. In order to achieve a minimalist design, we cultivated a unique pattern that is unlike our traditional synthetic jackets. This jacket does meet our standard fit dimensions; however, its unfamiliar pattern lines can certainly drape differently which can make it fit differently on your body. If you are looking for something with a bit more of a traditional fit, we'd suggest taking a look at our Nano Puff line!

Too delicate to be of any use.

I wanted to wait until I had tested this piece on a winter mountain environment. After all, that what I got it for, and where some reviews had described it was meant to shine. Cut is strange (for me)

Love the concept, but sadly returned mine because of fit issues. The L is a tad too tight in shoulders and upper arms, the XL too blousy through torso and too long down my body. Hoping Patagonia changes the fit on the next version because I'd love one of these in my pack.

Thanks for the feedback on this and we are sorry to hear about the troubles with fit. The Micro Puff surely does have a unique fit due to the innovative pattern we used to create this piece. In order to make it as lightweight as possible, we experimented with some new patterns and although it meets our standard fit dimensions, it will drape differently than any of our other synthetic jackets. We'd recommend trying out our Nano Puff if you are looking for something with a bit more traditional fit to it.

Superb technology slightly flawed cut

I have owned this jacket now for a number of months and despite what are likely to come across as gripes I would still recommend this product. Whilst warm to weight is as advertised astonishing it would undeniably struggle on its own to keep you warm in UK winter... Read More with simply a base layer. This piece should only ever be considered in the context of a layering system and its sizing should be considered accordingly. I am normally large and whilst the Micro Puff is roomy this is necessary to facilitate layering with base layer and microfleece. Whilst overall I like the fit and feel of the jacket, with the neck zipped up any movement of the arms forward will result in the fabric in the upper chest area raising up disproportionally to the rest of the jacket's movement. Very odd. Whilst the use of elastic cuffs is ok and seems to work in creating a good seal the same cannot be said of the waist. It is just too loose and in certain circumstances could envisage it just being down right annoying in its inability to seal out the weather. For the weight save of a half waist adjustment and toggle common on other fast and light garments I think Patagonia have sacrificed too much functionality. So aside from the bizarre cut resulting in what appears as excess fabric in the chest and poor waist cinching the positives are, great hood, useful drop pockets, unbelievable warm boost for minimal weight, resistant to rain but went it does get wet there is no perceived drop off in warmth and dries out very quickly in very little wind even on reasonably cold days. Stick an adjustable waist cord on this jacket, sort out the slightly bizarre cut and maybe increase the fill (in the body at least) by half again and this could potentially be the best insulation piece ever.

Thanks for providing this helpful feedback for us! Sadly, with any insulated jacket, the insulation can sometimes come out through the stitch holes. While this is more uncommon in a synthetic jacket, due to the Micro Puff's ultralight weight fabric, we've seen this happen a bit more. We suggest you try to pull it back into the jacket by pinching it from behind and pulling the fabric forward.
