Great lightwieght shirt for warm to cool weather runs where you want a touch of warmth and/or sun protection. Fabric is really soft and VERY thin/light so it won't be a durable as a heavier fabric but it breathes better, holds less moisture and feels really nice on the skin. I'm 6'1 with a slim build and the medium is a nice slim fit... Read More. I would not choose this for bushwacking as the fabric seems a bit delicate, but for on trail use it is perfect.
I purchashed this shirt 6 months ago as an active base layer for the summer adventures ahead of me. I live in Greece so we have a pretty warm summer.
The first thing I noticed when I unpacked and first tried on this tee is its extreme light weight and next to skin comfort; it was as if I didnt even wore it. It also packs extremely small, almost to ... Read Morethe size of a baseball.
I wear it hiking, cycling, running and on every active sport (ultimate, volleyball etc). I love its design, I got the blue and it is really good looking and minimal. For my body type it runs a little short on the sleeves but other than that it is perfect.
In temps above 25C every high output activity (especially running) makes you sweaty but even soaked the tee dries really quickly! Once I even used it in a river hike and I literaly swam with it but ther was no need for a second t-shirt. In the 18-20C range if you are moving enough, it is a great base layer, and on the colder days you can always layer up using it as base.
Another great feature is that when I managed to rip a hole in the back (bike fall on bush) and after that I got lazy to fix it for quite a while, the fabric held perfectly and the hole didn't get any bigger.
The only downside I have experienced is that the odor control isn't really working. It is still better than a cotton t-shirt but on a 3day 100km hike it didn't last more than a day and I find it can't take more than two straight workouts before in desperate need for a wash.
Far too tight a fit for anything other than a technical base layer, new material catches, no where near as good as the the looser fitting, silky, better wearing 2018 version. If you can find any of the old version I'll take 2 black, 2 blue and 2 grey.
This fit perfectly. Usually a great discrepancy in fit even among the same garments. Have a grey shirt and that is too large but same size as this shirt
I do outdoor and wildlife photography and Patagonia is my go to brand.
Have all the weights for different seasons.
They dry fast and feel great next to skin.
The lightweight material is perfect for summers here in Moab, UT. It keeps me cool while also keeping the sun off my skin. I am always wearing either this Cap Cool lightweight long sleeve or my Cap Cool Daily long sleeve when I am mountain biking in the summer. The only issue I have with the shirt is that the collar/neck is not round. It doesn'... Read More;t lay in a nice circle around my neck - instead, it is bunched/puckered. It's not just a one off either because I ordered 3 or these shirts and they all have the same - to me - unattractive neck. Luckily, the buff I wear around my neck hides it. If the neck could be made better, I would give this item 5 stars.
Love the cool light weight material. It's great for sleeping at night when you want to cover your arms but not raise your body temp too much. Also wonderful for those cooler Summer days or just a little extra under a sweatshirt for the colder days. A fantastic layer for sure!!
Very lightweight shirt that has been fantastic for me on warm days. The fabric is so lightweight you can nearly see through it, yet strong. Fit is what I would describe as "form fitting". I use this for work and don't want loose clothing, so it is great for that. But if you want something loose you might want a size up from your norm... Read Moreal size.
Hiking in the mid-west on trail on a typically hot and humid day. This long sleeve shirt is light and breathable. Also, the length of the arms is just right; I don't have to roll them up!
I wanted a new long sleeve jersey for trail running this summer. It's a perfect weight for summer in CA, when it might be a little cool in the mornings, but heats up quickly. The sleeves are nice and tight and don't flap around, and slide up easily and stay there. The weight is perfect for providing sun protection with not being as thin a... Read Mores possible. Works under my hydration vest perfectly. The only thing I don't like about it is, it's a little short in length. If I hold my arms up, you can see my non-6 pack stomach. But my other, heavier jersey (not Patagonia) is too long for my liking, so it's hard to get things just right I guess. I'll probably be buying another one of these once it wears out.
Sleeve hem came undone. Otherwise nice shirt. Maybe not really for mountain biking though.
This shirt was advertised as a casual mountain biking shirt. I bought it with the M's Dirt Craft Bike Shorts and the outfit looks great. This isnt really a bike jersey - the back is not longer than the front - and the material is as light as advertised. (Great for hot days ) Unfortunately the hem on the right sleeve came undone after about 3 b... Read Moreig hikes and a few MTB rides.
I have not contacted Patagonia yet - probably will try to exchange for another one. I have the color SUPX and it is nice and bright. Love the shirt, too bad about the hem. 4 stars I guess?
We're sorry to hear about the hem on that sleeve and we hope you reach out to us so we can get you an [exchange](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html). We're glad the shirt has been awesome otherwise!

Light and breathable!
This long sleeve is a great light base layer for any activity. Very light and breathable so you wont overheat. As a 510 male with long arms, the sleeves were just a tad on the shorter side than I like, but thats due to my longer than normal arms. Otherwise, I love it!
Hi Craig, thank you for taking the time to write us a review! We're sorry to hear that a few snags have appeared on your shirt. We'd suggest laying the shirt flat to dry after washing to reduce the change of future snags. With that said, if more appear and you become dissatisfied you are always welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) it under warranty.

good fit but not great material
this is the best fitting of all capilene cool versions but I have one from few years back which feel like silk and the new ones feel totally different and not in a good way, weight feels heavier too and i notice slight pilling. The material is a step down from the older gen.
I bought two of these shirts for my husband who works outside. They work great for sun protection and keeping him cool. The materials is very soft and lightweight. Only concern is that it seems like it might snag easily - But so far so good!
The material is extremely lightweight and comfortable against the skin. It offers good sun protection without overheating. I prefer the fit of this line vs. the other capilene cool.
I first bought the "Capilene Lightweight Baselayer" the year before they discontinued it. It was the best hiking shirt I've ever owned - super lightweight/cool fabric that protects from the sun. The fit was also perfect with slightly longer sleeves to accommodate arm movement without pulling up (along with thumb loops if needed).
The... Read More current design has the same great/cool fabric, but the fit changed. I comfortably wore a small size before, but now even the sleeves on the medium are marginally too short (fine when walking, but too short to bike or climb). To make matters worse, the thumb loops also disappeared.
Overall, I just really wish Patagonia would revert to the old style, or add the "baselayer" option/fit to the product line. These are easily the best long sleeve cool hiking shirts out there, but I'm sad that I can no longer buy them if I wear out my old one.
I've ordered these shirts in the past and was completely satisfied. I recently purchase of 3 and the workmanship is very inconsistent and not comfortable. The fit of the collar is extremely loose and with the rest of the shirt fitting slim it is very uncomfortable to wear. I use these shirts for a variety of circumstances; exercise, hiking and... I bought these in hopes to have something good for running and for field work as a base layer. It has worked out great! I love the fit, especially the sleeves that are more fitted. great shirt!
Perfect in 40 to 90 degree weather. Considered baselayer, I wear it as outerwear so bought it in size XXL for a looser fit. I bought two of these initially to fit as baselayer. Loved it so much I bought two more in XXL. Wore it for two weeks in Switzerland and France lasr week. No other top needed!
I've been long searching for a warm-weather shirt, with long sleeves, that will be (1) super light; (2) comfortable on the skin; (3) easy to put on & take off; and (4) doesn't smell. I wore it on my motorcycle (under a protective armor) - a breeze. I ran with it - a joy. I wore it for long hours - no stink. This is the one.The real deal. Kudos Patagonia! My husband loves them. Based on descriptions and reviews, as well as our satisfaction from our other Patagonia products, I knew he would. Capilene is cool
I love this shirt(.) I wear one daily for work under my scrubs and it is as good on 100 degree days as it is on 32 degree days. Also excellent fly fishing or at the beach for sun protection. I’m 5’10”, 185-size L fits perfectly.
Nice shirt. Runs a little baggier than I'd expect for a patagonia tech shirt, but not bad. Feels like quality but is very lightweight, great for layering.
I live in a desert climate with 90 to 100 deg summer temps and lots of sun. This shirt is the best sun protection/cooling combo run shirt I own, and now I own several. 6’ 175 size medium for Patagonia shirts like this described by Patagonia as regular fit where I otherwise where a large in the shirts listed as slim fit
Very good sun shirt. I have bought a number of these in different colors. Very cool to wear in high heat and sun. The fabric feels smooth. These are great shirts that i wear all the time, however the fabric is not as durable as the normal capilene daily (which is nearly indestructible). I have ripped the fabric with aggressive use (playing ultimate... Read More), but under normal wear it seems fine. Sizing is great, right in the middle, not tight, not loose. I will buy again.
I bought 3 of these shirts.
They are extremely lightweight, keep the cool, when it hot, and texturally feel great!
I will definitely get more in the future.
Didn’t particularly care for the fit or the feel. I have several daily wear short sleeve capilene cool shirts and really like them, by the LS shirt wasn’t the same fit (tighter) and didn’t have the same feel.
We're sorry to hear this! Please feel free to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) it back to us for a refund and let us know if you have any questions.

Poison Oak Slayer
Thank God for this shirt. I was so happy to feel how light and breathable this is. I will most definitely buy a few more to combat the poison oak here in the Bay Area. Even of a 80+ degree day I feel this is going to be a great shirt for tight trail riding.
Extremely soft and comfortable and lighter weight than the competition. Didn’t notice it at all on 1.5 hour runs. Have yet to test it on longer efforts. It dries faster than anything I’ve ever worn and helps me stay cool as I tend to run pretty warm. Love this shirt! I am 6’0” 175lbs and medium is perfect.
Ultralight weight shirt with excellent odor control. hiked with the short sleeved version of this last year for 10 days in the Alps with only occasional washings in a sink.
It never smelled and always dried before morning.
I wear Patagonia Capilene t-shirts every day... but it’s the "Capilene 1” that Patagonia used to sell. I tried this new version and immediately returned it.
