I bought this at end of year thinking it would be good for next year but have been wearing it daily with the chill in the AM air. Since I am quite short, the sleeves are a bit long but work just fine to keep my hands warm. Love it
This jacket is absolutely fantastic. It fits as you'd expect and is warmer than I expected! I love that the sleeve cuffs are a stretchy material, it really helps keep warmth in. Good for causal wear, not ideal for performance gear
This is a super warm, really cute coat that is great for around town. It has a slightly cropped boxy fit. That works just fine on my petite frame. I purchased it to potentially wear under my ski shell, but decided to stick with a nanopuff. Its too bulky to layer.
I love this jacket. It is warm, comfortable, and really soft. I usually wear S in Patagonia relaxed fit jackets, but XS fits for this one. Overall the material and feel of this jacket is luxurious. My only problem is with the fit. Runs a smidge big but decided to keep it. Overall love it. Feels dressy and stylish yet casual. A little on the boxy side. If I would have gotten a smaller size, that would have probably taken care of that. Would recommend!

Love it, but difficult to keep clean
Absolutely love this jacket! Purchased it about two years ago in the colour 'century pink' and this is my third winter wearing it. The best jacket ever
I have been looking for something warmer and more comfortable than my down sweater for the last several years. This coat is it. I've owned my Silent Down jacket since 2018 and it is STILL going strong, 4 years later. It is the softest and quietest down coat, making it super comfortable and my preferred coat for everyday wear. Read Morelightweight enough that you can take it off indoors while carrying it around without bulk or heaviness. The sleeve cuff is one of my favorite parts - it gives a great seal from the cold and wind, and gloves fit around it perfect so you don't get any coldness entering your arms. I wouldn't use this coat for skiing or hours-long winter exposure, as it isn't water proof or long enough to keep cold from your thighs and legs, but for those days I layer it under another thigh-length waterproof shell. Again, because of the lack of bulk and the softness of this jacket it is extremely comfortable to fit underneath another coat. It's easy to wash in the washer/dryer as long as you follow the instructions so I expect I'll be using this coat for another decade. In conclusion, this coat is used 85% of the time in the winter for me. For the 15% polar vortex or long activity days, I wear this underneath a waterproof, thigh-length shell from another parka I have and it's a very warm and comfy combo. Trust me - this is the coat you didn't know you needed.
I absolutely love this jacket and own it in two colors. I bought the olive green color several years ago and wore it so much that I bought a blue version last year. I've owned this coat for about 4 years now and the bottom line is it's great, I wear it all the time and it's held up well through years of use so far.

Read Moreput another warm layer underneath and use the cinch cords to keep cold wind out of the bottom of the jacket. The pockets are lined with a nice soft material to keep your hands warm.
2. Great for everyday wear but also works well for staying warm while camping or belaying. I primarily wear this as a casual winter coat but I've also taken it on many camping and climbing trips with good results. It obviously lacks some features of a more technical jacket, but I don't have the money to buy down jackets for every scenario so I've made this one work.
3. It's not loud and swishy when you walk, and it comes in nice colors. The shell fabric is really soft and doesn't feel plastic-y like some other puffers do. This thing is super squishy, I've even used it as a pillow on occasion.
4. It's durable. Like I said, I've owned this coat for 4 years now and can confirm that it holds up to wear well. I wouldn't pick this coat if I was going to put it through real abuse since it is a casual jacket with a nice soft outer shell fabric, but I've definitely scraped mine up a bit on branches and rocks while scrambling and haven't had any rips or tears. I wash it once or twice a year with down wash to clean and re-fluff it.
Stuff I don't like:
1. I have the mustard yellow color and it stains more easily than some other jackets I've owned, probably because the material is soft and it's a lighter color. I get some discoloration on the cuffs and pockets from regular wear, although it does come out in the wash. I don't think this would be an issue with a darker color.
2. Sometimes I wish the pockets zipped for more security. The snaps work well enough but sometimes I get paranoid that I'm going to drop my keys or something.
I once tried a Silent Down Jacket XS in store a while ago and it fit my small frame perfectly, like other Patagonia XS jackets. I didn't buy it then, and got the dusty red color when I saw it this year and goodness it is massive! I don't know if it was redesigned to be bigger or whatever but I'm swimming in it. Which is weird because... Read More the regular down jacket lineup was redesigned to be so narrow that the XS doesn't even fit me.
Why so much inconsistency in sizes Patagonia! For a short style like this, you can make a slim fit because it doesn't cover our hips. For a longer style like the down sweater, it needs more room because women have hips. But you're doing the opposite! At least make an XXS here for us who love the soft fabric.

Great fit, but fabric gets SO dirty
I loved this jacket when I bought it - great cropped fit and nice and warm. However, the fabric picks up EVERYTHING. It is covered in stains just from normal, light use. I do wash it, and it looks better for a day or two, but then its back to looking grungy. Disappointing, because I love the sheer look of the fabric.

I really love this jacket. It is a good length for me, I am 5ft 10in. I tried a large on in store, but it felt a little off. I bought the xl online and I have to say that the length is awesome. The sleeves are a smidge too long, but I vastly prefer that over smidge too short sleeves on a jacket like this. Maybe what feels like a smidge too long to ... Read Moreme is what its supposed to feel like! My only concern is that the silent down fabric will stain easily. I have a toddler and Im prone to spills anyway. Im confident about getting even red wine out of white cotton shirts, but this blue down coat seems like it could stain easily since it is so soft. By the way, there are drawstrings at the base, so even though it is a little wide in the tummy, it can be drawn in to prevent airflow, or to add a little more shape.
Lovely, soft outer material and very cozy. I prefer my jackets to be roomy thus I went up a size. Even in a larger size the jacket does not make me look like the "Michelin Man".
LOVE the outer fabric feel! Perfect fit without being boxy.
I have many Patagonia jackets but I can see this becoming my favorite. The feel of the outer shell is fabulous and the fit and function are standard Patagonia perfect :-)
I bought this for my trip to NYC last March and it was perfect for everything I did! I usually wear a small, but I chose the medium for a more relaxed fit:)

Best jacket ever!
This is my first Patagonia jacket and first product review ever. I love this jacket! The fabric feels fabulous and the fit is comfortably fitted but not tight. I live wearing it. Im on a trip in Croatia now and its the perfect weight for spring travel I wish I would have tried Patagonia jackets sooner but am thrilled I have this one.
I love wearing it. The jacket is cosy and soft. The sleeve length is great. I can wear a thick sweater under it. If it had a hood, it would be perfect.
I took this coat to Peru to hike the Inca trail and loved it. Light, soft, easy to pack, and warm. I normally wear a size Small in regular fit Patagonia jackets and tops (I'm 5'5", 125 lbs), but I got this in a size Medium so that I can wear layers under it and still be comfortable driving and running errands. This jacket is very light, soft, yet keeps me warm in windy 30-40 degree weather. I chose the cerulean blue and love it. I dont know much about cold weather SoCal doesnt get much of it. But a trip to Scandinavia warranted a warm jacket and this was the best purchase. I bought it large to account for a base layer and knit sweater layers. Perfectly warm in mid-30s weather with a wind chill.
Love this jacket. I am usually a size medium, but I like things oversized, so I opted for a large. So comfy and perfect for walking the dog in the Sierra.

Washing your garment can help encourage the down to settle more quickly as well. Just ok for me.
Love the idea of recycled materials. I received this as a gift and Im not sure I would have bought it for myself. It is warm but not really long enough in the torso to keep warm on cold and windy walks. I will make it work.
This jacket is superbly soft (like a cloud) and warm, but Im so nervous about staining it because the outer fabric feels a bit delicate. So I might not get as much wear out of it for that reason :) the periwinkle color is beautiful.
This jacket is excellent; wonderfully soft (inside and out), warm but not bulky and with a great shape. The colour is between a soft pink and orange but combines well with so many clothes.
I love the color and fit of this puffer. Slightly cropped and nice and puffy but not overwhelming for my smaller frame. True to size and I especially love the stretchy cuffs on the sleeves to keep warmth in and cool air out.

I ordered this for an around town jacket. I live in a ski town so I wear down 6 months out of the year. I like it...I don't love it. It's pretty puffy so I feel a little like a marshmallow in it.
We're so sorry to hear of the disappointment with the lack of a hood! For future, you can find specs and features on an item on the product page just below the product pictures. In the specs and features, you'll find information on if there is a hood or not. light and warm
this is a wonderful jacket.one of my favorites.its light and warm.
I love this jacket! It's water resistant which is a nice added feature. I found the sizing to be a little weird. I'm generally a medium this felt tight under my arms in an M so I sized up.
Truly one of my favorite jackets thus far! Talk about being cozy and warm! Not your regular puffy jacket and you can pretty much wear it for casual wear or hikes!
Fell in love with this jacket! The color, fit, and its so cozy I can literally live in this jacket. I got the small in the orange/caramel brown color. I sometimes wear medium sized jackets because I like the flexibility but I can move around in this jacket considering it is a small.
Have had this jacket for about a year. Where I live the winter is pretty mild (40s-50s), so I have only worn it on the coldest days, but I always get compliments. The slightly retro styling is unique compared to other puffers. It is so incredibly soft and comfortable. I would wear this all winter long if I lived somewhere colder.
Had this jacket for about a month now, so I feel like I can write an accurate review. This jacket fits wonderfully, however for a more stylish fit I should have gone with a small. (5'5 155lbs, I have climber shoulders so I usually go with a medium) It is super soft on the outside, but the DWR is perfect for protecting from snow. The color is n... Read Moreot brown in any way, but I fortunately had seen it in store and was expecting the bright orange. The cuffs at the sleeves are helpful for keeping arms warm, but they get in the way on occasion. I would recommend this jacket to people who are cold easily or find themselves caught in strong winds as the combination of the down and the large puff combat the effects of strong wind with ease. The snaps and zipper are very sturdy as well, and the only thing this jacket is missing is a hood.
I love this jacket! It's perfect for running errands (I prefer wearing this shorter length vs. my knee-length coat when out and about), super warm and looks great. I bought a size small, and there's still plenty of room to wear a bulky sweater without the fit becoming too snug. Definitely recommend!
Perfect coat for cold snowy weather in the Northeast. I wear it in the car cause its not heavy and cumbersome when driving. Its the perfect coat for shopping. The fit is perfect. Im 55 and 120.
Bought it a bit larger than usual so I could layer up for cold days. It is super warm and soft and cozy. It feels like a stylish upper body sleeping bag. And it feels even better knowing that the feathers and most other materials are recycled!
This jacket is lightweight, super warm & stylish. It fits perfectly with room to layer. I bought it in green & love the color. I get cold easily & it is the perfect top layer. The material is incredibly soft. I would highly recommend this jacket and plan to purchase it in another color. I have used it constantly since I purchased it. Lo... Read Moreve it!
I am so happy i grabbed this jacket.. the color is fun, reminds me of the burnt sienna crayon always was my fav! it is lightweight, very warm.. i live in Michigan so a February arrival was perfect! Size is true and the cuffs ribbing is tight so no snow gets in your sleeve. Would def buy again! might get the green one too!
First, I love the color...smoky blue. It's very warm, my first priority. Feels comfortable while wearing it. Shorter length, which is perfect for my small frame. Pockets are great, but the only thing I wish it had was zipper pockets rather than the snap pockets, which are more difficult to close, especially when you have something in your hand... Read Mores.
I live in the mountains and would always like to wear a down jacket in winter - except many times my desire to not look like a puff pastry outweighs my desire for warmth. I get the best of both worlds with this jacket as I can look cute and still be toasty! I would highly recommend this jacket - love the length!
I bought this for physically distanced seeing of friends outside in the colder winter temps--so mostly walking and sitting. I went for a S for a more fitted look, which lets me layer a warm sweater underneath but nothing super bulky. I also have the Patagonia women's down sweater, and this feels much warmer--especially in the neck. I prefer th... Read Moree wrist situation on this jacket -- feels warmer and more protected against wind. The silent down surface coating is quieter and softer than my down sweater. I've also found it pretty easy to remove spot stains which is nice. My comparisons and use are not for more active use -- I haven't worn this for serious hiking or skiing--I can imagine wanting a longer torso for that.
I got a S because I liked the look better, but I could have worn a medium with more room for layering, so maybe it could still be a technical option if you size up.
Not only is this jacket super cute and the perfect length for me but it actually keeps me warm in (mildly) windy 30-40 degree weather. I'm considering buying another one in a different color because it's that good of a jacket. Super lightweight as well, basically a nice warm cloud.
Really loved this jacket. My daughter has 2 in different colours and I was jealous, so order the stone blue, which was beautiful. Sadly the colour didn't suit me so I returned it. Thinking I should get the khaki instead.
I got this incredible jacket for a gift last year. It is unbelievably soft. I often come in from the cold and wear it inside since it is so comfortable. It's like wearing a down comforter! I have the wooly blue. I love the color!
