Protect the ocean so it can protect us
Our future is tied to the ocean. Its shared seas connect us through food, culture and sport. The home of amazing, abundant life, it’s also a powerful climate solution. Yet the practice of bottom trawling threatens to destroy this precious resource—bulldozing our ocean floor, undermining small-scale fisheries and deepening the climate crisis. Let's end this destructive practice, starting with an immediate ban in marine protected areas and inshore zones.

While I don't use these for Ski-Touring, I absolutely love them as a pair of Mountaineering pants. I initially got these specifically because of their incredibly low weight and weather protection. Being in the PNW, I could see 3 different types of weather in a matter of hours, and these pants have kept me dry every time and protected without f... Read Moreail. The zippers are a bit sticky, but nothing too bad, and the vents are sooooo nice to regulate temperature.
I've heard various complaints about the fit - for me, they're perfect. I'm 5'11 and have a 32in waist - I wear a medium. I can comfortably fit these pants over a baselayer without needing to ever adjust the fit. They bunch up a bit at my foot, but since I'm always gonna have mountaineering (or snowboard) boots on, it doesn't matter. I wear these with a belt, but that's more a just-in-case.
I am 6 ft tall and 195 lbs and the pants are a little long and big on me. The extra length is fine when wearing with ski boots. As others mentioned, the drawstring bunches the pants on the right side and does not hold very well. I just added a belt and it works just fine. The pants are comfortable, well made, and I like them despite the not perfect... Read More sizing for my body type.
Overall, I like them, but would never have been happy paying the original price: (I am 5 ft 9+ in, 153 lbs.)
- thighs a bit too slim for skinny me
- snaps do not snap solidly
- pocket zippers usually need two hands!
Update after 3 seasons - Both pocket zippers failed
Fit and function of these pants is overall excellent. After moderate use (touring only, 1-2X per week for 3 winter seasons) the pants are still in great shape but the zippers on both pockets failed within a couple weeks of each other. Patagonia chose to use a very lightweight waterproof zipper which it turns out is not very robust. Also as others h... Read Moreave stated the waist adjustment system slips, so a belt is needed. The model these replaced had some much more robust zippers and an integrated belt, IMHO they should go back to those design choices to make these pants more durable and functional. Otherwise a great lightweight touring pant.

Please make a tall version!!!
These seem like nice touring pants but the fit is WAY off. There is no way these are slim fit like the description says. I ordered a L because I have that size in the Upstride pants which I like a lot. I ordered these in the same size for something more windproof. The waist was HUGE, like two of me huge. I'm 6'3" 190# and I would exp... Read Moreect a slim fit L to fit me. I really think the sizing should be reconsidered. If anything please make a long/tall version of these, so I can get the medium/tall that might fit. Otherwise seemed like good pants. I would also suggest some redesign on the pockets. A good hand pocket on each side, then a beacon pocket on one side, just below the other pocket, with internal pouch for beacon & attachment point. Those should be the standard pockets on any touring pants. Material seemed good and the side/back vents seem designed well. I would only recommend buying these if you can try them on in person first, don't order based off similar Pata clothing you wear.
We're sorry to hear these didn't work out and we really appreciate your feedback, Mike!

Nice Shell Pant
I used these for resort skiing over a thin base and they were very comfortable without being the giant baggy blob that traditional lined resort pants are. They fit over downhill ski boots fine and still would button down tight enough so that they didn't drag the ground with casual boots for the drive home. The pockets don't have much volu... Read Moreme but I just used my jacket for pockets so that wasn't a problem for me.
This pant has a one sided pull string to adjust the waist but the flimsy string slips and also bunches- creating a poor fit.
Otherwise this pant felt light and high quality but the non symmetrical cinching is poorly designed.
Hey Eric, thanks for the review. The OppoSet waist adjustment is on one side of the pant, but it's meant to help with minor changes in fit. If you'd like to really pull the pants in, we recommend using the belt loops instead. If you find they aren't working out, you can check out our other options [here](https://www.patagonia.com/shop/mens-snow-alpine-pants).

Good fit.
Good fit for a 6'2" 170lb male. Hard to find good pants that are long enough in a medium. Pants are very breathable. Overall great pants.
Quality that you would expect from Patagonia. I have a 34in waist, and the large is just right. I do wish they were slightly longer, but thats typical if youre over 6ft 4in. Overall great pants, definitely recommend.
Used these for 5 days of ski touring so far this season. I have a 31-32" waist with a 32-33" inseam. Makes it hard to fit into a medium pant, and it's the same case here. These fit a little baggy, and a little extra fabric in the waist, but the smalls are too short. However, other than that I really love the pants. Pockets are great,... Read More the material is excellent; slightly stretchy shell. I like having the big side zips to dump heat on the skin track. Make these in bibs!
keeps the wind out and the vents make this extremely breathable even up to 70s i weigh 130lbs 28 inch waist i dont need a belt the system on the pants holds well i can comfortably say you can sit in a puddle for 15 mins up the mountain and your rear end wont be wet and the little wetness it does get dries within 10 mins
Lightweight, stretchy, breathes well and is durable. Fits pretty true to size. Im 5ft9in 160lbs and went with the medium for a little baggier fit. The waist strap works great to tighten and dial in the fit you want. Overall very happy with these pants (also got the jacket to match, highly recommend it). Looking forward to putting hundreds of BC day... Read Mores in them and if they rip after extensive use, I know Patagonia will patch them right up!
Wanted to love these pants. Fit is true to size and the cut is terrific. Two problems:1) the waist cinching system is very odd and only impacts the front right quarter. When cinched..theres lots of bunching. 2) theres a gap just above the fly hole that will certainly allow wind/snow to enter. Strange. Im a huge Patagonia fan and own many many piece... Read Mores. This one just needs some tweaking in my opinion. Perhaps its right for others, but I sadly had to return.
The length was too long for me. Otherwise, the fit was good. Also, the fabric was stiff and the color was a little off what i wanted. I know that I could have taken the pants to the Patagonia store and paid $50 to get them shortened. Just was not quite right for me.
As a professional guide I am very picky with my clothing systems. After 3 months of use the zippers on these pants failed me. I am very disappointed in the quality of this product.
Thank you for this review, Buster. We're so sorry to hear those zippers have failed! We'll be happy to help here. Great ski pants
Like all my Patagonia gear, this worked perfectly. My waist and thighs float right between a medium and a large. I went with the medium and the slight stretch in the fabric made for a perfect fit for a week of skiing.
These pants were warm and comfortable. I wore patagonia long underwear under them and these fit very well. Normally I would wear medium, but large size allowed layering for cold weather.
Really great ski pants but tricky on the sizing. I am 61 185 lb. I bought the large. They were a bit long. No problem. The waist fit perfectly when I first put them on but by the end of the day the pants were falling off me. I returned them for a medium and had a real struggle (over a minute) getting them snapped. By the end of the day they fit per... Read Morefectly and still do a week later. Great pants!
Good fit for my height fits great everywhere but the butt the area, the portion where the butt is sticks out a lot like I could fit a small pillow in there looks really unusual and funny:)
Been looking for a ski touring pant that does it all with minimal weight and complexity. These seem to fit the bill nicely. I think the waist cinch needs work, it loosens i... Read Moretself easily and is not sufficient to keep the pants around my waist. Attention to details
Have not yet had a chance to try skiing in the pants, but out of the box they seem like excellent quality with great attention to the details and build quality. Looking forward to try them.
I do however find them a bit baggy for a slim fit style, but nothing that would keep me away from keeping them
Very good quality touring pant. They are lightweight, waterproof and I love the soft fabric; they articulate very well for a hardshell pant.

Cheap
Not the quality I expected. The buttons are not high quality, it takes a near Herculean effort to snap them closed, and the they dont seem like they will last the season. The draw tab is a joke. Im not impressed. Patagonia has gone down hill from the once great brand.
Thank you so much for the feedback Ty. We're so sorry they didn't live up to your expectations. You're more than welcome to return them. You may prefer our [PowSlayer Pants](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-powslayer-ski-snowboard-pants/30335.html). Great quality and utility
This item is of the highest quality, storage potential via pockets, fit, and so far, durability and water resistance. I highly recommend it.
I'm on the heavier side and the XL fit me perfectly. Pants stayed up, fit was great. Super light, great articulation. Used them in the teens with a basic base layer and was comfortably warm on the front side. Only complaint was that they were rather long, a bit too snug around the boot, and cuff zippers were tight to pull up. Otherwise really ... Read MoreHappy!
Well thought out. They fit well. Have a lil stretch to them and they are quite too. The waterproofing seems impressive after the first few weeks of use and several storm tours. The zippers are a big improvement over the previous version of these pants. I dont find that the little waist pull tab actually does anything. So I added an arcade belt whic... Read Moreh works great. The gators fit over my 32 Jones MTB splitboard boots. Only quibble is that the cargo pockets are sort of large and dont have organization to them. The predecessor pants had both a dedicated smaller pocket above the cargo pocket on one side that I miss (Was perfect for easy access to a phone for referencing Gaia, or to take a photo). As well as a few little mesh pockets within the cargo pocket, which was great for securing your car keys, or a snack, or whatever. If I didnt have these before I might not know to miss them. But I did. And I do.
One other note: I run hot. These are awesome in winter. But on spring days above freezing, even fully vented, and pulled up above my boots, these are too warm for me (on the up). Come spring time, I just need to switch to a soft shell pant. Only mentioning because these are listed as being very breathable. They are definitely more breathable than other heavier duty pants. But for any ogres like me that generate a ton of heat, dont expect these to be magically cool.
Today was my second day with the Stormstride pants. They are comfortable, light weight, and have great venting for the backcountry. Am hoping they last a long time.
Ive skied these pants three days and am very pleased I purchased them. I am 6 - 1/2 and 165 lbs and medium is a perfect fit. The fit is slim but doesn't restrict movement - very comfortable. The two pockets are positioned slightly lower and more toward the top of the thigh than I prefer. But I typically dont use them when skiing anyway. The si... Read Morede vents are nice and the zippers/snaps on the bottom cuffs provide multiple adjustment options. This is great ski pant!
These are very well designed, fairly lightweight ski pants for backcountry/uphill use. Fit is excellent - I'm 6'1" 155, 33"waist/32" inseam pant size and wear medium in all things Patagonia - the medium in these fits well. Not too baggy, not too slim - just right. Minor nitpick: The waist adjustment could be a bit more robu... Read Morest - it seems to loosen up a bit over time but overall it works and so far I haven't needed to wear a belt. Thigh pockets work well, the one on the right thigh has a loop to clip the beacon to and so far seems to work well with my BCA Tracker 3 in the pocket (no binding etc). I'd prefer another pocket on the back for ID etc, but that's not a dealbreaker.
For me the main flaw with these is that the snow gaiters are barely large enough to go over my ski boots (Dynafit Hoji free tour). It works, but they are pretty much stretched out to the max. Will keep using them and see how it goes - have only used them twice so far. But they could do with another inch or two of material there to make it easier to pull the gaiters up/down with ski boots.
