I love the way these pants fit! Great stretch and movement. I have them in both size 30 and 31. I typically wear a 31 in jeans, but I prefer these in size 30 so I recommend sizing down. The seam at the top of the waist band is a little stiff but not a big deal.
I typically wear a 31 in Patagonia. I had to get these in a 34, and they are still quite slim through the legs. They do look rough after a 2-week trip, so long-term durability seems questionable. Rips and snags easily against limestone, so definitely don't recommend for that. Very light so can also be used for nordic, etc.
Super pair of pants. It is flexible in a way that you can use in many occasions. Good enough for long hikes. Good for staying home and backyard. Great for long walks in the city. Great for rainy/humid weather. Not super warm, therefore not winter pants.
Overall a super good purchase, exceeded my expectations. It is a little long so I had to adjust ... Read Morethe height like 3 inches or so. The cut could be a little skinnier towards the bottom but fine also the way it is.
Seems like it will last a lot with the material and reinforcements.
i like these pants. they have good mobility a function. i love elastic in the back and run tie in the front. i also like that they do not have pockets in the back/seat of the pants.
the thing i dislike about them in the low profile crouch. there is not enough room for comfort when getting the knee high up or when driving to the crag. perhaps a gus... Read Moreseted crouch would solve this-or just more material/room.
also would love to see the same design with a light wait insulation liner.
This is the first time I've purchased these pants, so can't comment on relative merits compared to previous models. They run a tad bit long on me, but nothing a roll in the cuff can't fix. When it comes to repelling water, drying quickly, blocking wind, resisting tears, and not getting stained, I'd say they're world class. ... Read MoreThey wouldn't be my first choice for a torrential downpour, but for hiking in pretty much any other conditions they're great in the summer heat and the winter cold. Mobility and stretch are great for long reaches when climbing as well. The longer fit makes me a little less excited about wearing them out on the town, but still a great purchase. Very happy with them.
Amazing pant to go hiking/climbing. Has becoming my climbing gym pant. Literally wear them multiple times a week. Only gripe is that the sizing definitely bigger than expected. I have a size 32 of the normal Altiva pants and they fit perfectly. Needed to get a 31 in these and the inseam is still crazy long (coming from someone's who's 6&#... Read Morex27;1). So great pant but definitely runs large.
I am very surprised to find that this fancy pant has no fly zipper, is this on purpose, if that is the case, it should tell customers, because it will be very inconvenient. I definitely will return it !
We're sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with our minimalist style of the Men's Altvia Light Alpine Pants. The lack of a front zipper is to provide all day comfort while hiking or climbing in a harness. We also wanted to provide an ultra lightweight pant for those who are climbing and need to count every ounce. Please feel free to reach out to our [Customer Service Team](https://help.patagonia.com/s/) if you have any questions regarding your return of these pants. We also passed your thoughts along to our Design Team. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Patagonia Men's Altvia Light Alpine Pants
This is probably the most comfortable pair of pants that I own. The fit was true to size. I am 5' 10" tall and weigh 160. The size 32 fits me perfectly. So far I have used the Altiva Light Alpine Pants for hiking. I believe they would also be great for backpacking, rock climbing, and running in cool weather. At only 9 ounces these also ma... Read Moreke a great travel garment. They take up little room in a backpack or travel bag. The draw string is a favorite of mine too many stretch waist pants leave that out. They look great around town too. From crags to the restaurant in the same pants!! Recently came down with COVID on a camping trip and found they were super comfortable to wear at night and for the long trip home.
This is my 3rd pair of the Altvia pants - they are by far the best pants I have ever owned and can be used for outside or with a sports coat. The zippered pockets are a major selling point. The only downside is all 3 pairs are slightly different - this information was not identified on the site during the buying process. I was disappointed that thi... Read Mores pair in particular has an elastic waist, no fly zipper and a drawstring versus the other 2 that had buttoned waistband, zippered fly and belt loops. Still love the comfort and will live with the differences
These stripped down version Alpine Altvia LT pants - are just about perfect for every outdoor activity - aside perhaps from Sub-zero mid winter skiing: too light weight....however add some capilene pants and a windproof and you are good to go. They have everything need - but nothing you do not. Design, construction, quality are superb.

Very comfortable and easy to move in
Bought a second pair one size down and they are a closer fit to what I expected. I use these at the climbing gym and they work great!
Another perfect piece from Patagonia! Looks amazing, very comfortable and awesome use of materials. It is a slim fit, so I got 33, so it fits my legs.
Waiting for more colors
I like the fabric and weight. I dont like the waist band as it does not adequately keep the pants up when Im using them actively. I would suggest elastic coupled with a better waist cord. I also find the pants a bit long and with too much fabric towards my feet.
Hey Jennifer! Thanks for the feedback. We'll pass it along to the design team for sure. We know that all kinds of people get into the outdoors and all kinds of gear are needed. Hopefully we'll get something in the line soon.

Nice, but too Long!
Nice pants, but the inseam is too long. Patagonia, I really appreciate that you all finally started to make more technical and casual pants with short, regular, and long insteams. With these, however, the one regular inseam does NOT work well for people with shorter legs. The pants bunch too much at the ankle and get damaged by brush, rock, and cra... Hi Rafael, thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. We are so sorry to hear that these aren't working out for you. Your satisfaction is always our top priority so please feel free to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) these.
I really like the new pants in addition to the old trusty Simul pants. These are lighter, very stretchy and comfortable not just for climbing but basically everything involving movement.
Extremely comfortable, you'll want to wear them all the time. The blue color resemble scrubs, but still very nice. Work well for climbing, hiking/running, or work. These likely wouldn't work for an everyday climbing pant (not that they're intended to, they're a light alpine pant), I received a few abrasions after one day of clim... Read Morebing. I bought a second pair, would recommend.
These pants have been very comfortable and have a great range of motion. The fit is a little large and tightening the drawstrings only tightens the elastic in the waist band -- the drawstrings do not go around the entire waist.
I bought these pants for rock climbing in the southeast because of the stretch, breathability and durability for the weight. They excel as a climbing pant but they're also so comfortable that I find myself wearing them all the time as a lounge pant as well. They're slightly roomier in the waist than I'd prefer, but nothing that the b... Read Moreuilt-in drawstring can't handle.
I wore these on a 10 mile run in 30 degree, windy weather this AM and they were about perfect. I did not even think about the pants the entire run, even with a gel, keys and doggie bags in the pockets. I am 6'4" and 175lb and they fit about perfect for me, rare to find pants with a 32" waist that are long enough. Slightly less windpr...
