I bought this and another hiking coat from another brand at the same time. And although this one doesnt look as stylish its way better! It breathes despite being waterproof, definitely perfect for summer! All of the features on this coat is great.
This jacket is exactly what I wanted. I chose one size larger than usual in order to be able to wear this over heavy sweaters in the winter. The sleeves are a bit too long for me, but the velcro wrist tabs allow me keep the sleeves from covering my hands. The Sumac Red color is lovely - a striking but muted shade somewhere between pink and rust. Th... Read Moree shell fabric is not crinkly, is waterproof and breathable, and is made of recycled fishing nets! What's not to love about this? Very happy, especially with the sale price.
I just recently purchased this jacket and took it on two trips with me. We happened to get in a couple of significant rain storms and the jacket held up just awesome to the wind and blowing rain. I was dry and warm without any layers underneath.
I typically wear a medium and purchased a large so I have room to layer underneath. The jacket is perfe... Read Morect sized for that. The hood seemed a bit large but is highly adjustable and I was able to use those adjustments to get it to fit properly. I really like the fit of the hood with a ball cap underneath as the hood is large enough to cover the hat and it keeps rain off my glasses!
Found elaborate reviews online that helped me choose this jacket. And very happy so far with it. The upper layer can seem to absorb some drops but doesn’t let any moisture through. Lovely fresh colour (I got the light green), and love the pockets and armpit zippers. Highly recommend :)
Lighter than what I expected but still kept me warm and dry. Underarm vents work great after some exertion. Not much room around the hips for a size L though so it rides up slightly (I'm a 12 in trousers for reference). Love the laminated hood.
I needed a rain jacket for travel and hiking in more developing countries - we are heading to Africa in a few weeks. This jacket is both lightweight and sturdy, so comfortable, and the fit is absolutely perfect.

Read Moreks down easily into its own pocket and is so convenient to stuff into a backpack while traveling or into my handbag when running around the City. I forget its there until I need it!
I got the light plume grey color, and it is a dusty bluish grey with royal purple and light turquoise accents - its a beautiful combination that hides dust and dirt well while still having a bit of subtle flair.
Functionally the jacket is exactly what I need - something I can throw on when its pouring out and still be able to stay dry and walk around comfortably. I have never had to use them, but the pit zips are a nice to have option, the pockets are in the perfect spot for shoving my hands in if I want to keep them warm and dry - not too high and not too low. The hood adjustment is also good and I can pretty easily get it to fit, with the visor at just the right level to keep rain from pelting me in the eyes, without having to manually hold the hood up and away from my face or worry that it will blow off my head.
Im 5 foot 4 inches and 95 pounds, so finding a jacket that fits properly and isnt too big, boxy, or short is a challenge. Im thrilled to say that Patagonias XXS feels like it was tailor made for me. Its a very flattering cut that fits perfectly at the shoulders, tapers a bit at the waist, and ends at a perfect length just below my hips covering the top half of my butt, with room for layers underneath. Looks great whether I have short shorts or pants on, with or without insulating layers underneath.
Ive always loved Patagonia gear but size was always a barrier - XS always felt one size too big and I had to live with things feeling roomier than ideal. The XXS is absolutely perfect, I couldnt be happier. I really hope they continue to make XXS a regular size option on their gear going forward. Especially with well thought out and executed pieces like this jacket, Im getting ready to replace all my Arcteryx gear with Patagonia!!
La. Giacca è molto bella, leggera e morbida e veste abbondante, solo il colore è un po' diverso rispetto alla foto, per il resto una giacca versatile impermeabile e traspirante, capo da avere!
Purchased this jacket to keep me dry on a long week hike and worked perfectly! The armpit zip is such a luxury and allows for a cooler temperature.
Sale items seem to fit more narrow in the hips (it appears they took the poor reviews and revised the fit!), but when I purchased the size up (xs to a s), it still worked for me
I absolutely love Patagonia for their great products but also service that matches it.
I purchased a waterproof jacket and unfortunately there was a fault with the jacket so they gave the option of repairing or refunded me the money.
They also checked if there was another one in stock so I could quickly replace it.
Love this item for hiking, and running in the elements. The waterproof zippers gives me that extra security for all my belongings knowing they will stay dry. The material and the lack of crunchy sound the material makes puts it far above most any rain jackets. Also have worn it snowboarding on the warmer days, good durable choice for the outdoor wa... Looks like this should be a good jacket quality-wise, but be careful of the sizing if you have a pear-shaped figure. My measurements are XXS for chest (31in) and almost S for hips (37.5in), so I gambled on an XS that was on sale. It fits pretty well on top with ample room for layering underneath, but indeed just barely fits in the hips. If I had si... Read Morezed up to match my hips, the top would be much too baggy. So, technically, this jacket seems to run to size, BUT that suggests Patagonia standard sizing is not a great fit for my body type. I will probably keep this jacket because it fits well enough to work, and because I like the features that most other brands dont offer (recycled content, repair and resale programs, fair trade manufacturing). However, the fit makes me wary of buying Patagonia jackets or tops in the future. I wish their sizing were just an inch or two more generous in the hips, to better accommodate those of us with curvier bottoms than busts (while still not being too roomy for smaller-hipped people). I would become a steady customer if I could be confident that garments would fit.
Thanks for the feedback, Eileen! There is a chest pocket on this jacket that you can use for your pass. We recommend reading through the "Specs & Features" tab on the product page so you have an idea of what to expect when purchasing. Ended up returning
I ordered the large because I wanted to be able to wear it over my puff jacket and maybe my vest. It was pretty big even with those items under. Just kind of a weird fit. And the color was more purple than blue-ish. I ended up returning this jacket.
Hi Lisa, we apologize for the issue with sizing. You're always welcome to take advantage of our [complimentary exchanges](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) to grab the correct size.

Wanted to keep but weird sizing for my body shape
I loved all the features of the rain jacket but the design was not shaped for my body type. If you have a long and lean build, this would work for you.
Hey Jill, thanks for the review. We're sorry to hear the fit didn't work out with this jacket. Light Weight Easy to Pack
I bought the blue one on sale last month. True to the color, fits a little bit snug (bought S and the M was too bulky) . Two deep front pockets but I wish it had more and smaller pockets. Like the front zipper and the side under arm zipper feature. Easy to pack, keeps you dry and warm from the wind.
After dealing with one atmospheric river after another in California, it was time to invest in a proper rain jacket. Runs a bit bigger than I thought - would size down if I were to do buy it again (but will keep this one, as I can add many layers under it if needed!). Great jacket!
The previous reviews are correct. This jacket is very narrow in the hips. If you have curves, look elsewhere. It's frustrating. Other than the fit, the jacket seemed solid. I returned it.
The jacket design features and cut are fantastic but it ran a bit tight in the midsection for me. The material is perfect for a lightweight jacket that protects you from the rain.
Bought this for the lady of the house, she loves the color first of all, and I agree, it looks cute on her. But more importantly she states that it fits great and keeps her dry. The pit zips dump heat really well which helps when hiking in the rain. The jacket packs down small, stashing for any adventure or day out on the town in questionable weath... I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this jacket. I bought it for casual wear but found its great for hiking & skiing (downhill and xc). I ordered an XL and it was too big and sleeves are too long. I exhanged it to a Large but it's a bit tight around the waist and hip areas. It seems warm enough but I don't know what to do.

More than I what I expected...
This jacket was a gift from my Dad to me to use both during my long walks to college campus and use on our trips/work in National Parks/Monuments in the West. He loves his jacket of the same style and wanted to make sure I had a jacket that I would use for 10+ years with work and school.

With the weather that Northern and Central California has experienced this winter, I have found this jacket to be bomb proof! Have never had the jacket soak through and coupled with its really lightweight feel and cut, have not found a true weakness. I also own a Torrentshell jacket of the same size and love them both. This style feels lighter but slightly slimmer in its cut where the Torrenshell is maybe slightly heavier feel but a straighter cut if that makes sense? You cant go wrong with either but love this one just a smidgin more right now.
My children have many Patagonia jackets because they are pretty much iron clad. This is my first one and I am pleased. Very comfortable and lots of thoughtful features (pockets, sleeve lengths, slightly longer in the back). The red seam taping is a nice fun touch.
I am normally a medium but I feel Patagonia runs a little small so I sized up..Love the raincoat and that its from recycled materials!! Keep up the excellent customer service!!
I've been looking for a rain jacket. This jacket is light keeps me dry and is flattering to wear. I can wear a thick sweater or sweatshirt and the small fits well. I'm 5'3 and 120. I love this jacket. Seems very versatile so far!
I needed this shell for walking, hiking, and everyday use as a waterproof but breathable layer. So pleased to find this beautiful blue color on sale. Comfortable Rainwear
I use this jacket for dog walking in rain and it works great; it's comfortable and keeps me dry. It also fits nicely over my micro puff jacket as a shell.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Returned my North Face jacket that was over priced and stiff. This is so flexible, cute color (green) and the options (pit zips, hood adjustments) are my favorites. All hoods cover my eyes, but I can cinch this and make it the perfect size.
the first time I wore this jacket was for a walk for my dogs in light to medium rain. within the first 10 minutes I noticed spots on the sleeves where water had already soaked into the fabric, however I overall remained dry. the second time I wore this jacket while cross country skiing in light/medium snow and the jacket soaked through much quicker... Read More then I had hoped. at the end of the day I was soaked through my base layer. others in my group with a gortex Patagonia snow jacket and a gortex rei rain jacket had begun to soak through by the end, but overall held up better then this jacket. I purposefully chose an H2No waterproofing jacket because it was the more environmentally friendly choice, but I am regretting not going for gortex instead. The jacket fits very nicely and is nice and lightweight, zipping into the pocket makes it very packable.
Hi Nikki, when the inside of your jacket has moisture, generally it is caused by moisture trying to get out or being trapped by your base layer rather than coming in from the outside. Your next to skin, base layer should keep you warm and dry underneath your jacket. Sweating and exposure to moisture in the air can quickly saturate many cotton or natural fiber base layers, so a next to skin layer of wicking fabric is critical. Moisture-wicking material transfers the water molecules from the surface of your skin to the outer clothing layers, keeping you dry from the inside out, as well as the outside in.
Our [Capilene](https://www.patagonia.com/search/?q=capilene&lang=null) is an example of a wicking, fast drying base layer that is specifically designed to work with our waterproof shells.

Great Rain Jacket
This was an upgrade from my last rain jacket, better fit, great color, more substantial - worked great on a recent trip to Italy where there was lots of rain. It is very handsome and did the job.
My 12 year old loves this jacket - especially that her bike helmet fits underneath the hood, and that she can fold it up into its pocket. She will grow into it and likes that it is a bit oversized now.
Ive had a light weight Patagonia rain jacket for years that needed to be replaced. This one is perfect. Great fit, light weight, awesome color and keeps you dry.
My previous rain jacket was at the end of its life. I had it for 3 years and it got to the point where I was as wet wearing it as I would be if I didn't have it on.
