Great fit

Last year I bought the tres three in one. Sent it to worn wear. I just cant wear the slim anymore, but this new parka makes me look slim, even tho its a regular fit. Warm, comfortable, great fabric and length. Its a keeper. I even strayed from black. The blue is a great color. Thanks Patagonia.

Warm and light

This coat is my all time favorite when I go for a walk or a bike ride. I live in the north of the Netherlands and it's always windy and often rainy but in this jacket I can even enjoy that type of weather. It's classy, warm, elegant and light and hope I'll be wearing this coat for the next 20 years. It's totally worth the invest... Read Morement.

A truly beautiful jacket

Ive been looking for a comfortable winter jacket for Pittsburgh winters that is not extremely heavy or puffy but will keep me warm. I HATE when jacks feel like theyre swallowing you whole and extremely bulky for no reason. A client of my coworker suggested I look into the Patagonia brand because its what she has always wore in harsh winters I forge... Read Moret where shes from but Im so glad she made the recommendation! I have not yet wore it during a cold snowy day but the jacket is beautiful and so well made. I went for the blue and its so classy. The shape to it is plain but I dont mind it as I just wanted something a little more light weight but warm and it seems like it will fair well. I simply love everything about it and will be purchasing from Patagonia from now on its perfect, you wont be disappointed!

Gorgeous parka!

This parka is well designed, warm, and stylish. I purchased after trying out the Glacier Jacket (short version) and deciding that style was not warm enough for my needs. Actually, I saw a few neighbors wearing the longer Glacier Parka at a neighborhood cafe and it was love at first sight. Despite my petite frame (nearly 5'4, 110lbs, 32c), the ... Read Morelength and fit of the size Small offers a better experience than the size X-Small. The hood and zipped collar of the XS felt too constricted and uncomfortable when fully zipped, and the Small felt just right. I would size up if you want some flexibility to add thick layers, or if you are like me and prefer some extra room. The extra room did not result in a poor fit overall, as I wore it recently during a severe wind event without feeling a draft; it held up very well. I can comfortably wear both a Better Sweater and Down Sweater, or only a t-shirt and am still warm, so it is versatile. If you can try in person, I suggest comparing with layers you plan to wear often with the jacket. The zipper does get stuck when putting it on, but that is the only flaw I have experienced so far.

Best purchase for the winter

Fit is perfect. Im about 160lb and Thr medium fits great. Still room for layers but feels fit enough with just one. Super duper warm - although I havent tested it in the deep winter yet. For someone taller and longer

I bought the parka in the Basin Green color and its beautiful. The quality of the parka is top notch and it keeps me very warm in the fluctuating fall weather. Perfect jacket for fall and winter

I love this jacket. I sized up from a medium to a large this year to allow more room in my shoulders and be able to wear a sweater underneath. Would recommend to anyone looking for a stylish and versatile jacket!

Love the fit & lightweight feel

I am 5 ft. 3, 113 pounds and will likely wear a thin long-sleeve, a fleece zip up jacket (no hood) and this parka on top (this is how I tried the parka on at the store). I tried a Small and although it fit, it was slightly more snug than I'd have like to move around freely. I purchased a Medium, which gave me more room, especially in the arms,... New favorite

I have been shopping for a parka for over a year and this is exactly what I was looking for. Great for Every Day

Very cozy and warm, have not tested it in extreme cold yet. The fit is nice and loose enough to layer. It is a tad boxy but I got it to be warm, not accentuate a girlish figure, and it still looks nice. The hood also fits nice and doesn't sit too far back on my head.

Tried this on in stores as a replacement to my Down With It Parka. It's a bit warmer, and the fit is much sleeker. A really nice quality parka!

Its a very quality down parka! Its lightweight but it seems warm and not too puffy. This season I have been on a mission to find a good quality parka. It also is not too fitting around the hips. Although, the outer sleeves are a bit long but they dont look too bad and actually get shorter if I put on a warm sweater. I actually really like the hood as its warm and looks stylish even though some people mentioned it being too puffy. I also liked Patagonia Tres 3-in-1 parka, but I was afraid it would not be warm enough on snowy or icy days. Jackson Glacier is a really nice parka. The quality is really nice and I love the environmental approach of Patagonia manufacturing. In fact, I only seriously considered purchasing Patagonia brand for that reason.

If I could, I would give it a 4.5...

I have been eyeing this jacket for a couple years but couldnt justify the price. So I waited, reading the reviews and keeping it in mind. I finally got it (on sale) and overall, I really do love it! I am super happy with it but for a couple of things. I am 54, 128 lbs and with the change in Patagonias sizing over the last couples of years, I have g... Read Moreone from a M to a S in most items. So while at the store, I tried on the S and the M, and ultimately went with a S. The shoulders are just a tad too narrow and I have found this with other jackets. My shoulders are not unusually wide, but I seem to need a quarter of an inch on each side to have the perfect fit. The collarI saw the previous reviews and they have seemed to fix the previous problems. The jacket comes up to about my mouth and because I often walk my dog in 4 degree weather, it would have been perfect if it was just a bit higher. For next years jacket, maybe you could consider increasing the height about a half an inch to an inch. The pocketsagain I saw the previous reviews and I would say, the overall pocket size is good but give me just another half inch increase in zipper length so the opening is larger. So there I am, walking my dog in 4 degree temps and my hands will freeze if I take off my gloves. I find myself trying to fast forward my podcast through the adds after pulling my cell phone out of the pocket, but with my gloves onI just cant slide my cell phone back in quickly and easily enough. I just need the opening to be bit bigger. Jacket bulgeI would agree with a previous reviewwhen sitting down the bottom of the coat bulges and I have to push it down to smooth it out. Not a big dealI guess that is what you get for wearing what is essentially a sleeping bag. The lengththe length looks great and is perfect for the 59 model on your website but alas, I am only 54 and the jacket falls right at my knees. I love how long it is and I wish it was just an inch shorter so that it fell right above my knee caps. The zipperI have not had any problems with it, and I can see why it could go south. Luckily it can be replaced if anything happens. I have noticed it takes a little extra work to get it started when zipping it up. Not sure how that could be remedied and hopefully this wont become a problem. Arm length.again, give me a half an inch more. Hope the review helps and again, overall, I am very happy with it! PS. Patagonia design team.if you are really reading this...1. Your clothing is pretty awesome and wears great. I have a shirt from sophomore year in high school that I still wear and I am about to be 45 years old! 2. Shoulders run a bit small in some of your stuff. 3. This parka is amazing, and has exceeded my expectations! Patagonias Live Chat was incredibly helpful as I was choosing between various down parkas. Even though its a tad more heavy & bulky than an ultralight down parka, the extra technical features are well worth it, and its still quite lightweight! I have used it on walks, and also taking kids to the park when Im standing still on cold days, hood up, all the way zipped up, and utilizing the hand warmer pockets and I felt perfectly warm and protected. Lovely coat

This parka seems really warm but I haven’t actually used it yet. The big test will be it’s outing to Austria very soon. The quality is good and I chose this particularly because of the ethical and environmental reuse of the down filling.

Great coat!

Fabulous winter jacket, perfect for life in the alps. Long, warm, waterproof. I bought this to replace an older model which had a much tighter fit and no hood. This enables me to fit any layers required underneath, work outfit etc, without feeling tight or bulky. Love love love it!!!

Wore in the snow for the first time yesterday and I had snow coming in from the face opening down my neck since the jacket also does not have a collar as the hood is not removable. I'm disappointed since I was expecting better performance from this jacket and I may end up returning it. For this price point this jacket should be fully functional.

Great Jacket!

My favorite winter parka yet. I've had the Down with it Parka for years. As do my mother and sister. The Jackson Glacier is much more comfortable for layering and I love the sleek non logo look that it has. Very warm, good length, not too heavy. Absolutely love it and I recommend. Great investment.

Whoops: this 2019-2020 winter's version of the parka is what I love.

November 16, 2019

They read the reviews.

Kudos to Patagonia for incorporating last winter's reviews into the production of this winter's (2018-2019) version. I've been looking at this parka for over a year but had been hesitant because of issues mentioned in earlier reviews. The changes (for reference, I'm 5'2 1/2", about 135 lbs, with an athletic build; I li... Read Moreve in New York City):--pockets seem bigger than a review mentioned were true of last winter's parka. I can fit my entire hand plus my smartphone in each pocket, though not much more. (Before going further, nope, I don't work for Patagonia. Never have. Just think they deserve credit for revising this parka for the better.)--the issue with the top of the zipper scraping the chin has been solved. The several parkas I tried on in the store, plus the one I ordered, haven't had this issue.--the neck part is quite roomy (but not too roomy; just enough for a scarf) and isn't stiff.--the bottom half of the parka doesn't sink between my knees. Warmth:I get cold easily, but so far this winter, this parka has performed well when it's ~35 degrees Fahrenheit (~15 mph winds, low-20s with wind chill). I'm comfy with a tank top and leggings underneath, plus a hat (but see note below). Looking forward to seeing how warm I am in it when it's colder and even windier, but I wanted to write this for people searching for winter coats now. ALSO I haven't tested this parka when it's raining / snowing out. Sizing (yeah, I tried all these sizes in the store):--XS: fits snugly (but not too snugly)--S: pretty roomy with just a baselayer underneath. And I have pretty broad shoulders for someone my height. Snug with a fleece and a baselayer underneath.--M: roomy. Also roomy with a fleece and baselayer underneath. Without the fleece underneath, the parka looks way too big.--I chose the small, which hits three-quarters of the way down my knee. It's not perfect:--when sitting down, the parka does balloon a bit around the waist for a second (till I push it down), then all is well. Not a big deal for me, but others might care.--when it's been windy, sometimes the wind has gone under the bottom of the parka and up to my waist, so my bottom half is less warm, BUT I was wearing leggings as pants when this happened. When wearing fleece pants, my legs are warm.

Warm and comfy!

Tested this in a snowstorm in Chicago and it kept me warm! The zipper issue doesn't bother me because most of the time it's not zipped all the way (I did zip it all the way a few times but I tucked my chin behind the jacket to stay warmer, so wasn't an issue). Perfect coat: great fit, waterproof, and WARM without bulk

I've been looking for a new down coat for about two years and this one couldn't be better. It's about twice as warm as my old Spiewak & Sons coat, and not any bulkier. It's also totally waterproof, down to the zipper. There are a lot of really smart cuts and details (hidden toggles on the hood, hidden zippers on the pockets,... I wavered before buying because of reviews talking about zipper issues and the top poking into their chin, but neither of these things have been remotely true for me. I did size down; I'm normally a S in Patagonia, but since this was a regular (not slim fit), the S was a little baggy and the XS fit perfectly. Can't wait to wear this coat for years and years.

I love this coat. I moved to the Midwest from the west coast and have needed a new winter coat. It's so warm, has a great hood, and completely keeps the wind out. It can be worn casually, but also is a great coat for wearing on the way to work. I would definitely recommend this coat!

Wow. I love this coat. Why? I wanted a ‘great frozen north warm coat’. This is one piece, warm, wind proof, attached good so no leaks of cold air. I have been looking for a warm, down parka style jacket that is not too bulky. This one fits the bill. I like that it is 'fitted' in the waist while still allowing for layering underneath. I have no complaints about that part of the design. It's warm and every time I put it on, I smile!

love love love.

My husband bought this parka for me as a pre-Christmas present at the beginning of November, and I literally live in this thing. I'm 5'5 and 125lbs and I went with a small. When I initially tried it on, I was only wearing a long sleeve shirt underneath and thought it was a little roomy. However, since I live in WI where temps drop all too... Read More often below 0 in the winter, it turns out that it's the perfect size to add some toasty sweaters and even a vest underneath without it looking too bulky! My husband and I have tested it out on walks where it's already been all of 10 degrees (even colder with wind) and it's been fantastic. It holds up wonderfully in wet snow/sleet (it repels all moisture!) and is the coziest jacket ever. Some have said that the zipper is rather odd, and, while it is different, I think it's just fine. I've never had any issues with it and appreciate that it's not metal as those get so dang chilly on cold days anyhow. I also read reviews about the hood being weird. Personally, I love it. The last thing I want is a floppy hood that looks nice but does a horrific job at protecting your head from the bitter wind, sleet, or snow. This hood is fitted enough that it does all of the above. Yeah, it doesn't look like your typical winter hood, but it actually works! A bonus note - I ride horses and during the winter barns are notorious for smelling pretty gross (i.e. horse pee, poop, etc.) as you can't open up windows and doors to air things out like you can in the summer. Typically, you go in the barn with any piece of clothing, and if you're not out in 3 minutes your clothes will reek. On multiple occasions I've worn this jacket to the barn to drop things off, gotten stuck talking to someone, and this coat has never, ever picked up even the slightest trace of barn smell. It's absolutely magical. I know this situation doesn't apply to most, but I think it's a fantastic bonus! :) All in all, it's a pricier jacket than the other parkas Patagonia offers, but I think it's absolutely outstanding and worth the extra $. This will be a winter staple of mine for years and years to come.

This is an amazing parka. I am 5'6, 135lb with an athletic build, I got it in the olive color and this is a perfect coat for me. Great jacket, but.....

I recently bought this and was really excited about it. It has one flaw, though, and for me it is a deal breaker. I don't know if it is my particular jacket or the... Read More way I stand or what, but I didn't notice it in store. I did see that at least one other reviewer mentioned this, so it isn't just me. I would say you should definitely check this if you are trying it on. I've called Patagonia and their customer service was great. They encouraged me to write this review as developers do look at responses when making modifications to future designs. Otherwise, it is warm, a great material, pockets are nice, sleeves work for me etc. I personally would want it about 2 inches shorter, but that is just a personal preference thing. The zipper itself works very well, especially when compared to other longer jackets I tried on. Half of them were impossible to zip. Also love the feature that this can be unzipped from the bottom for driving.

Happy so far

I'm 37, and this was my first "serious" winter coat purchase. Most winters I wear a combination of ski jackets and longer coats that are more fashion-oriented than they are practical. I spent a long time searching for a quality coat that's warm, but also sleek. I have yet to wear this in temperatures lower than the mid 20s, but ... Read Morebased on how warm I was at that temperature without a sweater under it, I'm confident it will be warm enough for Boston winters. Over the past 24 hours I've had the pleasure of testing it out in rain, sleet, and snow, and I stayed nice and dry. The coat itself also dried off incredibly quickly once inside. Overall, I'm thrilled with the coat. The only negatives for me are the same issues I have with most clothing - the sleeves could be a touch longer, and the waist isn't as snug as I'm used to. I don't count these as points off because these issues have more to do with the shape of my body than the coat itself. For reference, I'm 5'8", 135-140 lbs, with a narrow waist and wider shoulders and hips. I considered a medium to accommodate my hips and shoulders, but ended up going with my usual small and I'm glad I did. It fits very well, looks good, and I have room for a sweater under it. Another thing I considered before purchasing this coat is the lack of fake fur around the hood, which is standard for Patagonia. Most of my other coats have had this, and it looks gross by the end of the winter, and I especially hate when it gets wet and matted. That said, it does help to keep snow out of your face, so I was a little apprehensive to buy a coat without it. My walk to work this morning included windy sleet, and the "visor" portion of the hood kept it out of my eyes. My lower face still got wet, but given the weather, I think that was inevitable. The hood is warm, adjustable, and does what it's supposed to do. Also, I'm happy to own a coat that's stylish without promoting the look of fur. I chose the Smolder Blue color, and it's beautiful. When I started my coat quest, I knew I wanted something that was grayish blue - enough color to stand out from all the black coats, but not so much that it would feel inappropriate for certain situations. For some reason, most brands make men's coats in this color, or short women's coats, but it's hard to find long women's coats in it. There were many coats I liked that came in gray or navy, but not a combo of the two. So thanks, Patagonia!

The Patagonia Vosque 3 in 1 parka has a slim fit and was too tight in the hips. I also wanted it to be longer. The Patagonia Transitional Parka was a decent fit but I didn't feel that it was very warm or that it did well in the wind. Finally,I tried the Jackson Glacier Parka and it really fits what I was looking for the best. It is a great long length, hitting at my knees (5'5''). It is warm, even in the wind.
