Great material, feels amazing. The only negative thing I have to say is that as with most patagonian products it is very hard to find a fitting size for me. I'm 188cm/95kg with relatively broad shoulders and larger than average arms. Size L is always a bit tight around the upper back, shoulders and arms and XL then again is massive around the ... Built to last.
I am 6 foot, 13 stone, 42 inch chest, 34 waist usually between medium and large sizes. This shirt is quality through and through (material, stitching). You know this shirt will only get softer and better with more wear. I bought the large. The fit across the shoulders, chest and length of the arms is spot on and allows freedom of movement. The wais... Read Moret is a bit loose and the length is a little too long for my tastes but I’m sure I’ll shrink itover time! I reckon the medium would be good fit for smart casual occasions and the large is good for knocking around in life, so I’m happy
Love Patagonias Fjord flannels and have three of them. I like the relaxed fit as I'm usually between a L and XL and the L fits perfectly. Also love the weight of this one as its not too heavy but also not too light. Like the straight hem at the bottom of the shirt for the untucked look.
Hard to improve upon
It is really hard to think how this piece could be improved upon. I am tall with a thin/athletic build and the size large fits perfect including the sleeve length. The weight is exactly what you want for cool weather and it seems like it is constructed to last a lifetime. I like this much better than the lightweight version.
Great looking pattern
I am 6'0", 175# and athletic, but have long arms. I thought "no way" a medium will fit me, but all of the sizing references pointed me to a medium. Perfect fit! The material is a medium weight, has some warmth, but this particular pattern and color combination is really good looking. This is a great flannel, I highly recommend i... Read Moret. Thanks,
Striking colors and straight hem
Striking colors and straight hem make this a very stylish. The cotton is a step above any other flannel I've ever worn, very soft, smooth, dense and llkinda luxurious. Nice weight as it's not too heavy and layers well. Actually also bought it in a large to wear when a bit more room is desired - plus I just love the ink/black, reddish with... Read More white plaid. Perfect for hiking to casual dinner and definitely breweries.
The Perfect Flannel
I've had a few of these for several years. I'm ~5'10" athletic build and Medium fits me like a glove. They're softer than other flannels I've worn, which makes them incredibly comfortable. In fact, I wasn't big on wearing flannels before owning these, but now they've become my ubiquitous fall/winter dress - g... Read Moreood for every cooler temperature. I have 4 and they've all held up to everyday (+hiking) use without a single issue. Judging by the sheer number of reviews, I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of Patagonia's most-selling items. It is well-deserved. I especially appreciated when Patagonia did a run of these shirts in solid colors a couple of years ago - I wear them to the office in the winter and manage to look professional and stay comfortable!
The fridge keeps shrinking these shirts!
I love these shirts! I have 5 of them and they're my go to whenever I have to look presentable (whatever that means for a biologist). These shirts do shrink a fair amount over time, but in my case I think I can only blame some of that on the dryer. The sleeves run pretty long on the XXL, but the fit is good after the first few washes. I'v... Read Moree had one of these shirts for over 6-years and I just finally wore a hole through the elbow (note: I loved this shirt so much that I recently noticed I was wearing it for every picture of me for a 3-year period). These shirts are durable, warm, and wear in like a dream. Just don't eat too much or you'll find yourself shopping for a larger size like me.
Great cotton flannel, warm and sharp!
This is a great shirt, a little bit thicker and warmer than many plaid shirts, a real working flannel, perfect here in the Pacific Northwest. Cotton breathes well and has a nice soft hand, which hopefully does not impact longevity. The fit is fantastic for me, it might be old-school -- fits very true to size and has actually long enough sleeves,... Read More hard to find! Not a super-slim fashion fit; looks very sharp. I'm 5'11" and wear a 14.5 shirt with 33.5" sleeves, size Small fits great. Also tried on the Medium, the difference wasn't too much but it had more room in the body. Many companies I have the problem where either the torso and shoulders fit, but the sleeves are too short and the hem rides up, or I'm just swimming in it. Last thing, there are a few different items Patagonia calls Fjord flannel, there's a lighter-weight summer shirt, and, more like a jacket, they are not the same which confused me at first!
These are my favorite flannels. I own several. I love the squares bottom hem as I dont tuck my shirts in and this hem looks sharp. Its a great weight, comfortable fabric. If my wife would let me, I would own one for every day of the week and then a few extras. Im between 5.7 and 5.8 and 145 give or take. The small fits perfect.
Comfortable, perfect fit and cool
Its hard to find a flaw with these shirts. This purchase added numbers 2 and 3 to my collection of these shirts. I work from home and these make comfortable everyday casual wear for work or play as well as a warm, durable outer-layer in cool-weather mountain biking. I am 5-11 and 185lbs with an athletic build and these fit perfectly in every dimens... Read Moreion, even after a few wash-dry cycles. Great sleeve length, perfect fit across the shoulders, not too bulky or roomy, but not restrictively slim. Goldilocks. They are as close to perfect as I have encountered in off-the-rack clothing.
Comfortable and warm flannel shirt.
I only have Patagonia flannels because of their quality and fit. The size M fits me perfectly. This particular flannel is warm and comfortable; neither sloppy nor tight. I wear it inside on cold days and nights, as I mostly wear fleece outside in cold weather. But it would be great for outside wear too if that was your preference.
Made for smaller folks
Bought an XL - consistent with all my clothing. I could put this on and button it but could rip the shoulders out, easily. Replaced with XXL. Shoulder fit is better but not consistent with the rest of the garment. Could still use a bit more room in the shoulders but a bit large elsewhere.
Runs very small
Ive owned 8 different fjord flannels. Very frustrating that the mid weight version fit way differently than the heavy or light weight version. The midsection is extremely tight in the mid weight vs the light or heavy weight version. The quality and styling are on par but the fit is way off. Im 5 11 and 240. Sizing and fit continues to be an issue f... Read Moreor this and other Patagonia products. Still a fan just buyer be ware.

Comfortable, soft, flattering
This is a terrific medium-weight go-to flannel. The fabric is super soft, and it layers nicely over a t-shirt and under a light jacket. I like the flat bottom hem. It looks like a Pendleton, but the arms are longer and the fabric is wayyy softer. This is roomy for a medium, nicely fitted on my 6'/190 lb. frame.
I have two other Patagonia flannels (lightweight). Love the colors of the mid-weights and wish they would make them available in lightweight. I bought two mid-weights because of the colors but when I received them, the arm holes in the pit area and bicep areas are smaller than my other Patagonia shirts. I had not washed or dried them even. Just tri... Read Moreed them on. What a weird difference to have, especially when checking the size chart, ordering the same size as my other shirts and both the mid and light weight shirts are organic cotton. Returned them and was bummed. Good customer service though. Hassle-free returns.
Soft and durable
It is difficult to find clothes that are the right size for me since I have a muscular build with broad shoulders and big legs. But Im not very tall. So I bought two of these. New Fit Too Slim
Ive been a loyal Patagonia flannel wearer for several years. I mainly bought them because their fit provided plenty of room in the shoulders without being too long or baggy. This new version still has the same great materials and is high quality but the new fit is pretty slim in the shoulders and chest now. Hopefully they go back to the old fit, be... True to size (for americans)
Super cool shirt, it is really true to size for the American market (taller people compared to Mexico), even if I'm tall (at 6'4" & 210 lbs) I liked the XL size but felt it was a bit too large compared to other brands I know, i could even rock the Large size as well, but i ultimately like the XL fit as well!
Comfortable and Versatile
So, I rock the Oregon logger esthetic and flannel is a big part of my wardrobe. Most are either too tight in the chest or too long when they fit in the chest. These fit perfectly. It is a good weight as an over shirt when it is cold or by itself when it is less cold. I have 3 and will likely get more.
comfortable fabric, easy to wear
What my husband likes the best in this and the fjord flannel shirts he has been wearing for nearly a decade is the comfortable fabric. The material just feels good. The buttons are easy to fasten. He likes the collar (not button down) and the positioning of the buttons.I will add that the patterns and colors are beautiful. The sleeves have gauntlet... Changed for the worse
I buy one of these almost every year. I have 7 of them, one of which is 10 years old and still gets worn regularly. But they have changed them over the last couple years and not for the better.. Midweight now Lightweight
I own 6 of these midweight Fjord Flannel shirts which I've purchased over the years. I love the look, comfort, and most of all weight. Our Midweight Fjord Flannel previously used a 6.5-ounce fabric and in 2021 we switched to a 5.9-ounce flannel sourced in Portugal. We're sorry for any disappointment this causes so please don't hesitate to reach out to our [Customer Service](https://help.patagonia.com/s/) team. We'll be happy to help with a return!
Comfy and Solid
Great shirt. Fabric is really smooth and soft. It seems to be a bit warmer than usual flannel shirt, let see how it feels in a summer time. American sizing seems to puzzle me way too often, but fortunately Patagonia provides e.g models, so it helpes a lot. I'm 191cm(6"3) and 90kg (200lbs) and size L fits perfectly, thought there is still ... Read Moresome room for small X-mas belly if so :) So i would say, L-size is right for the guys that are roughly 187cm - 193cm(6.2-6.4ft) and 85-95kg (185-210lbs).
World's best flannel
I've been a big fan of the Fjord for years, and must say I think this new version improves on the previous time-honored ones, which I wouldn't have thought possible. I love these shirts! I have 3 of them. If you're a guy who likes flannel, you can't go wrong.
Super plush, well made, and great colors.
Im a huge fan of these shirts, add a coat or micro puff and youre good to go even in really cold Chicago winter days. My only complaint is that the fit could be a little less boxy and more athletic. For those of us who work out, Patagonias regular fit tends to be much too long for the width of the shoulders, so you end up with miles of extra fabric... Read More that hangs past your mid thigh to get the shoulder to fit. Ideally, there would be an athletic fit that more closely approximates the cap cool long and short sleeves. Oh and please please please add the little buttons that keep the shirt collars down. Nothing looks sloppier than curling shirt collars and Im really not looking to iron or steam my flannel shirt collars every time they come out if they wash.
One Buy Three
Before purchasing my first Patagonia Fjord shirt (on sale), I couldn't remember the last time I wore a flannel shirt. After wearing the Fjord for the first time, I immediately purchased two more. I love the feel, fit (relaxed body with sleeves just right) and look. I highly recommend it.
Midnight Fjord sizing puzzle continues!
I love these shirts but, over the years, the sizing has been a bit of a mystery. For the last few years I've been buying these as L, which fit me perfectly despite every other Patagonia garment I own being an XL. The last two I bought in October '22 in an L turned up very snug so I returned them and replaced with XL. Chest-wise they are... Read More just fine, but this shirt is very long indeed. This must be great news for tall blokes, but I'm having a local seamstress take 6cm off the bottom. Ironically, we took the baseline measurement off the shirt I am wearing today: an older Fjord from the days when L was XL! You must sell enough of these to sell them in different lengths, no?
Most fine and pleasing
A very handsome shirt that's a boon for me in keeping warm... as I tend to run cool. That this is org cotton, that really shows up. What a superior material, soft as it comes. The sleeve length is appreciated having 1" longer than average arms. Wouldn't want the shoulders any more trim than they come as a looser fit with no sense of ... Read Morerestriction is preferred. Material is great the fit
Material is great the fit is a tad small for me. In a medium the sleeves are too long could be because I'm a shorty. The thickness is not up to par from the past flannel I bought two years ago. well fitting, medium weight flannel
well fitting, medium weight flannel shirt. The quality is very good, and I like the square cut tail. The colors are true as shown online and patterns are rather unique. I currently own 5 of these shirts, and I always get complements when I wear them.
This is the gold standard of flannel shirts. I've worn the first one I got 2-3 times a week in the colorado rockies for 3 years now and there's no signs of wear nor tear. I really like the fit and feel of this Flannel. It is extremely comfortable. It is warm but I wouldnt wear it by itself in cold weather its not a super heavy flannel. For me its the perfect weight I can layer under it with a long sleeve merino in cooler temps. Or wear a T shirt under it in 50-60 degree temps. The length is perfect its not too short... Read More it actually covers your waist line and then some but not overly long its perfect in length. It fits well around my torso and doesn't look wide or stretched out. New Version is Thin
I have three of these shirts I bought back in 2018-2019; they are some of my favorites for daily wear throughout fall and winter. Sturdy, thick, and they hold up to plenty of hiking and washing! I had to return the 2022 shirt I bought; I picked it up at REI and felt like it seemed thinner than the old versions (while still costing the same!) but f... Read Moreigured that might be incorrect. Comparing them at home, it's half as thick, more comparable to the lightweight flannel I'd purchased back in 2019. Maybe some customers were asking for a thinner flannel? I'm not sure why they're still charging so much for way less material. Returned the shirt and will look elsewhere for thicker, sturdier flannels. Giving some stars for the wonderful quality of the older versions.
