Protect the ocean so it can protect us
Our future is tied to the ocean. Its shared seas connect us through food, culture and sport. The home of amazing, abundant life, it’s also a powerful climate solution. Yet the practice of bottom trawling threatens to destroy this precious resource—bulldozing our ocean floor, undermining small-scale fisheries and deepening the climate crisis. Let's end this destructive practice, starting with an immediate ban in marine protected areas and inshore zones.

Title says it all. This is a good pick for winter and I also use it for cold spring rains. Have not had it for fall yet; prob going to be a 3 season jacket.
It's really well made, you can tell the company cares a lot about the quality of all the small appointments in the jacket (snaps that hold the two layers together, ties that keep the hood and jacket tight, etc.). Feels like it'll last forever and so far has been extremely warm and durable. Can't recommend it highly enough. If you... The coat seems very well made. After a few months, none of the zippers or snaps are showing any sign of malfunctioning. It fits well, and keeps me warm and dry. I like all of the internal/chest pockets. My only (minor) complaint would be that the lower external pockets aren't in the most comfortable position for resting one's hands.
Replaced a 3 in one shell that had the zipper fail with the Tres 3 in one. I like the regular zipper opposed to the smaller zipper of the 3 in one. Also, Tres 3 parka is lower which I prefer. Prefer the pockets too. Two breast and two side along with plenty of pockets in the down liner. Fabric is more breathable while the 3 in one seemed tougher. F... I bought this jacket with hopes of it being one of my best purchases in 2023. Unfortunately, there are several things that drastically impact this parka's performance.
1. It's not warm. This can be subjective from person to person, however with 700 fill power down and a wind/waterproof layer on both the rain jacket shell and the inner l... Read Moreining, I expected to be significantly warmer. For context, I'm wearing a t-shit, medium-weight long-sleeve henley, and a quarter zip fleece, and waiting out in 35F weather. It was still cold.
If I bent my arms, I could feel the cold shell through the down-insulated jacket underneath.
2. Pockets. This a common complaint in the reviews I've read. These pockets are placed horizontally and with thick, chunky plastic teeth to zip them up with a flap that is sewn on one of the sides. this makes wearing the shell+liner in the winter, or the shell when it's raining, completely impractical. It makes for an awkward unnatural front positioning, and the plastic chunky teeth are annoying to graze past when putting your hands in the non-insulated pockets. Yes, the pockets are not insulated and are the only ones you can stick your hands in for the shell. They do have a soft lining, though.
3. The hood. The hood is small, hard, and also impractical. The hood barely goes past your face and is not insulated. This is supposed to be one of Patatgonia's warmest jackets, however, the hood is just the shell. When the wind is blasting this hood, expect the shell to get extremely cold, which then transfers to your head. Make sure you don't forget a hat.
4. The shell. If you're using just the shell for rain, it's not practical. It's thick, heavy, and uncomfortable to move around in.
5. It runs small. Winter clothing should avoid being pressed up on to the skin as to reduce the transfer and withdrawal of heat from you body. having space is important. I'm a 5'5" and 135lbs man, if I bend over or stretch my back, it starts to get tight (especially with the shell+liner).
I understand Patagonia is updating this model for next fall, here are some of my suggestions:
1. Remove the sewn sides of the pocket flaps to allow for a more comfortable movement of hands into pockets. it's annoying when it feels like there is something in the way of your hands entering your pockets every time you try to put them in.
2. Remove the zippers. Why are they there? You're not running around in a winter jacket and the pocket are deep and flexible enough to safely contain any contents, plus the flap locks things in, anyway. Remove the zippers, cut the sewn part of the flaps and replace with velcro.
My ultimate suggestion here is to combine the torrent shell with the down hoody.
Hello Chandler, thank you for this thorough and detailed review, we'll share your thoughts with our product design team. You mentioned one thing in your review that we'd like to touch on. While this parka would work great for some people/conditions/temperature ranges, it doesn't seem to be working well for your needs. We do have a warmth index, which is a 1–10 scale of the relative warmth of Patagonia jackets and vests, calculated by materials testing performed in our lab. The higher the score, the warmer the garment. The Tres falls about midway on this scale coming in at a 6.8, so it won't be our warmest parka for casual use. Our warmest parka for casual use would actually be the Frozen Range which ranks in at a 8.9. Unfortunately, we have sold out but we do have some available on Worn Wear which you can check out [here](https://wornwear.patagonia.com/shop/search?q=frozen%20range).

Warmest Jacket I've ever owned; It's perfect
It seems to run a bit large, but maybe I am not used to wearing a bulky jacket.
Love the versatility and style of this jacket kit. I live in the PNW and it's perfect for year-round wear. Wear the full kit in the wet cold months - the puffer on dry cold days or just the shell on warmer rainy days.
I got a large - I am 6'2 ~210 lbs. The shell without the puffer fits bigger than I would normally wear, but it's ju... Read Morest right when the puffer is zipped in. The puffer fit is just right (and it's a nice puffer!)
I do feel like the quality is a level above other outdoor brands - the fit and finish, zippers, colors, it's all very nice. Patagonia isn't cheap - but you get what you pay for. If you need one jacket that'll serve several roles that looks stylish enough for work, get this kit.
I wanted a robust, yet flexible winter coat, and this one certainly fit the bill. I am in the lighter side (130#s, 5ft 10in). The XS felt tight at the armpit, and the S fit right without feeling too bulky. I was afraid the fabric would be heavy and crunchy, but surprisingly, its is very pliant.

I gather it would feel worse when the weather is really cold. I gather Ill be using gloves though, so that should minimize the feel of the zipper. Thank goodness it is a plastic zipper and not a metal one.
The front chest pocket is a key requirement. I love the pockets, on both sides. The internal jacket is also very nice and light, with the two pieces together not feeling bulky at all.
I had to return it - down-filling comes through the shell
I made this review in January-21 when I returned the item, but it was not published potentially due to a direct competitor reference. So, I removed the reference and am trying again:
I bought this coat a year ago and returned after a few time wearing it. The problem was that the down-filling comes through the shell, which was quite disappointing f... Read Moreor the price. In addition, although the jacket is highly stylish, I was disappointed with versatility as compared to another brand that I bought long time ago not available anymore.
I can live with the versatility issue as this jacket has additional features that can make up what is missing in addition to being more stylish, but leaking of down-filling, was the deciding factor. I just wonder if it has been improved since then as I contemplate to order it again. Having said that I have just seen at least another review that brings up the issue of the inner jacket "losing a lot of its down and no longer providing the same insulation."
Thank you for sharing this feedback. We're sorry to hear that liner jacket is leaking down! You may be able to keep them in place by pulling them back into the baffle from the other side, and then firmly rubbing the fabric with your thumbs to “heal” any hole that has formed. In any case, we want you to be happy with everything you purchase from us, and if you like we'll be happy to help you [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) it. This coat is being redesigned somewhat for next Fall, and those coats will be available around August. Please let us know if we can be of any help!
This is my new favorite Patagonia item. I waited almost two years to purchase this parka. I needed a winter coat that was professional and practical. Absolutely love the quality and its VERY WARM. I tested in -10 wind chill and didnt feel a thing. Highly recommend if its time for a new winter coat.
I was attracted by the reputation of the brand. I was sick of buying cheap coats every winter and them not being good quality or warm enough to last. I had a fuller down coat (not remembering the specific name at the moment) and a gentle and kind salesperson directed me towards the 3 and 1 parka as a NYC requirement. I fully agree!!!!!
The fit and finish are top notch. The quality is fantastic. Its very warm and keeps water out. Only downside I would say is it lacks inner pockets other than the stuff pocket on the liner. Some lower pockets on the inside would be great. Outside pockets are very well placed. Overall very happy with my purchase.
This jacket is awesome! So well made, stylish, modern, light, dry, warm, wind proof, comfortable. The green is a lovely colour. Sure it’s expensive but the quality is outstanding, and now that Patagonia is held in trust for nature I really don’t mind paying a bit more.
Only thing I would change would be to get rid of the zips on the main pockets ... Read More- these are not necessary since the pockets already have storm flaps, and they make the pockets less comfortable.
Will wear as a three season every day coat. Would also be good for day hikes or skiing, but wouldn’t take it on a multi-day hike as i have other lighter/more compact options.
Beautiful Jacket - its professional looking jacket that will keep you very warm.
The down insert of the jacket is very warm and is great to wear to work when its not rainy/snowing.
The outside shell is a beautiful material that keeps you dry, and looks good. It has a longer length which is great. The jackets warn zipped together are very warm, and ideal for winter weather walks into work when its below 40 deg outside.
Warm and comfortable a few things could make it better.
The jacket is warm and comfortable. Things I think would make it better:

A few feathers started coming out already but not as much as other bran... Read Moreds. A good interior pocket on both layers would take this over the top. I like to put a phone or wallet under there instead of on the outside. A slightly wider mouth on all of the pockets. Also wish that there was some type of soft backing when the jacket gets tight around your neck or chin so it doesn't scratch your chin on the zipper.
Overall its warm. Comfortable, stylish and fits well. Best jacket I've had but These small things would take it over the top.
The jacket is great, very warm and really waterproof. The versatility of the 3-in-1 is great for changing weather.
Only issue would be the sleeves of the puffer jacket get easily caught and sometimes unclip from their attachment (especially if you have a watch or bracelets on).

Please make replacement zip-out jackets available!
I love how durable my tres-in-1 parka has been, and I am so happy to know that Patagonia has a service that repairs jackets to prolong the useful life of their products.
The one downside so far for me: I cannot purchase a replacement zip-out jacket for my parka. It has lost a lot of its down and no longer provides the same insulation.

Please give us owners of the tres-in-1 to buy replacement zip-outs. Thank you for your time.
Hi J, thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We're really sorry to hear that the internal liner was lost, and for the disappointment that they aren't sold separately. A good replacement for the liner would be our [Men's Silent Down Jacket](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-silent-down-jacket/27930.html?dwvar_27930_color=CNY&cgid=root). It isn't zipper compatible like your old liner, but it's very similar in weight, warmth, and fit.

Happy Husband
My husband has been wanting a Patagonia 3 in 1 for a while, I have a couple of Patagonia winter jackets and he has come to admire the quality and warmth that I have appreciated. Love the parka, but after 4 weeks the outer material started to wear, especially where the buttons are.

Hi Niels, thank you for submitting this review. We're so sorry to hear this parka didn't hold up as it should have! This is obviously not what is supposed to happen, and we are passing your feedback on to the appropriate teams. We're glad to hear you've returned it to the dealer. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance!
We were surprised at how well these fit (Men's Medium for me and Men's Small for my partner), how warm and how functional they are. We love them! Like all Patagonia products I buy Medium for a bit more mobility, though I wear a Men's small for many other brands.
I bought this for my husband for our upcoming trip to Finland and the German Christmas Markets. Fit and style are great. Love that the layers can be worn together or separately, which was the main reason for purchase. Hopefully, it will keep him warm!
Very versatile, full featured, and slightly stylish warm wear
I am fortunate to have a few Patagonia daily drivers for various activities and uses.
For my 20-40 degree daily driver and one jacket for business travel to cold places, I am particular for a certain set of priorities (see title).
It needs to be flexible to fit the weather during travel and plane rides.
I did not like the look of the Tres 3in1... Read More, it was trying to be too slick in style. The old Style of the 3-1 Tres was perfect in style but it was not waterproof at all and would get waterlogged when wet.
I decided to go with the Frozen Range because I run cold anyway and for lighter weather trips I could bring a nano puff and storm outer layer.
Perfect decision. Thank you Patagonia for letting me swap out my old Tres due to it holding water.
I love the insulated hoot, the high cut of the collar, and all materials, and the minimal styling on the jacket. Very warm but if you wear it open it can be worn easily in 20-40 weather in and outdoor.
This is a nice, warm jacket but has issues. 1.Minor issue: jackets collar has cloth covering top of zipper, this needs to be waterproof. 2.Minor issue: liner needs more attachment points, should have at least 3 on collar and 2 in each sleeve, also buttons would be better than those loops
3.Critical failure: with liner installed jacket has no insid... Read Moree pockets! 4.Critical failure: liner is completely insufficient as stand alone jacket, it does not repel water nor wind and the fabric snags on EVERYTHING. As far as being reversible, it is but both sides look almost identical. Why wear it inside out? The jacket as a whole is overpriced in my opinion.
Hey Jason, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We'd like to touch on a couple points you've made here. For the storm flap over the zipper, the shell of this parka is waterproof including the flap. Regarding the liner, it should still work in certain scenarios but what it does work for will vary from person to person. The 3-in-1 feature is that you can use the shell or liner as stand-alones, or wear them together. The shell is the waterproof feature, it would not make sense for both the shell and the liner to be waterproof, though the liner does have a water repellent finish. No part of this jacket is reversible. For more information on features, we recommend checking out the specs & features tab on the product page, all of this information plus more will be outlined. If you find that you're not satisfied with this purchase, you're welcome to begin a return [here](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html).

Warm but clunky
I am a huge fan of Patagonia, but not a huge fan of this coat. My first editions zipper broke and in true Patagonia fashion they replaced it without hesitation. Overall, the jacket is warm, but not comfortable to move in. I would replace it with another model that Lillies more flexibility.
I have been using it for almost two years. I am pretty sure that will last for many more years.
The only downside that I found is that one of the zipper broke.
Hi Omar, thank you for this review. We're so happy that you've been happy with this parka! With regard to that broken zipper, as soon as you’re willing to be without your parka for a few weeks, we’ll be happy to help you send it to us for [repair](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html)!

Stylish yet practical
Great jacket that withstands the elements well. Looks really stylish and fits well.
I was convinced about the jackets performance but wasnt sure on sizing. Im 191cm and a slim build - the medium fits perfectly.
Looking forward to some more bad weather!
I had a previous version of this parka for 10 years, and unfortunately it was accidentally destroyed. The Patagonia warranty department helped me replace it with this new version. It's largely the same, which is great given how much I liked the old one, but there are few changes worth noting.
First is that the inner puffer jacket now has elas... Read Moretic cuffs on the sleeves. For casual wear, I prefer open cuffs, so that's not my favorite.
Second is that the pockets on the shell are significantly different. My old version had pockets with vertically-oriented zippers on the side of the jacket, in the normal place where you'd expect a zipper if you wanted to put your hands in your pockets. On the new one, the pockets are more towards the front, and the zippers are a lot more horizontal. Which means when you put your hands in them, you kind of have to stick your hands straight down, which I find pretty unnatural. In addition, there's a flap covering the pockets, and the zippers on the pockets have large, chunky plastic teeth. If it's cold out and your hands are raw, fighting the flaps and dragging your skin along those teeth is not very pleasant. The pockets seem like they are designed more for storage than for hands at this point.
I expect to get many years of use out of this new parka, and I know it will keep me warm and protected, but the odd choices around those front pockets drop it from 5 stars to 3 stars for me.
Great Nasty Weather Coat that looks Good in Bad Weather
Great all-purpose coat to keep you warm and dry in coldest and nastiest weather. I got XL so that I could wear it over heavy sweater or sports jacket. Love it.
I had high hopes for this jacket, but I ended up returning it. The inner jackets is a typical down-type jacket that fits well and is warm. This jacket fits great, is very warm and is perfect for wearing to work and around town on the weekend in colder weather. The only issue I have found is that the zipper chin guard at the top/inside of the collar either isnt long enough or stiff enough and flips back exposing the zipper.
This coat offers great versatility and adaptability to various temperature settings. Earlier in the season, wearing the inner coat only was plenty warm enough, and I look forward to getting continued use from it in various situations.
For me, the amount of pockets is adequate, and the pocket space is enough, though others may want more. The coat is clearly a little bit bulkier, but that is expected to combat the colder temperatures. I'd say it is fashionable enough for those of us in colder climates.
I got the kelp green color during a rare sale of 20-30% off, and at the price point I paid, I am a big fan of this coat and what it delivers. At full price, may want to think just a little harder about your options, but this coat would still be a good decision.

It was large though with lots of room to fit extra hoodie, layers on underneath on those extra cold days. I would say if you normally like slim fit and are under a 40/42 coat size go medium.
As far as cold it got down to the teens in temperature and I wore a wool base layer and hoodie and I was fine. Along with patagonia long underwear, scarf, beanie etc..on the warmer days.. just a shirt under was fine. Or if it wasnt looking like rain or snow I would just use the puffy. Lots of options. Did great on snowy days too. Tons of pockets. I see what some reviews are saying about the zippers. Seemed fine quality wise.. never got stuck might be nice to have bigger ones because with gloves on it was hard to zip up. Also with the outer portion being a shell you dont get much insulation in the hood but I guess thats what you get with the versatility of a 3-1. I dont think you will be disappointed at all if you purchase this. Looking forward to many warm trips for years to come.
As with every Patagonia Jacket I have owned I am very happy with this item. Wearing as insulated parka it is very warm and looks stylish. I love how it is 3 jackets in 1 and you can wear either layer on its own as light outer shell or down jacket. Considerably lightweight for how heavy duty/warm it is. Highly recommend.

This jacket is so comfortable and versatile. The only thing I dont love are the pockets on the parka part which as a a matter of personal taste I wish were angled and a little higher. I also would not mind an extra small inner for pocket on each of the parka and the puffer.

Just received today, so initial reactions are that it is very warm and fits well, the one problem I have is the front pockets are angled too flat and the flaps over them make it awkward to walk around with my hands in the pockets
Very high quality. Comfortable, versatile and sleek. Had a chance to test it in Norway weather. Held up perfectly against rain, snow and wind. Temp was 0°C - -10°C. Would highly recommend.
I like the parka, color was not what i expected. I have light patagonia black jacket. Black of parks was different black. I will buy the same item in different color when prices comes down
Absolutely love the dark green color. The coat is very warm and stylish at the same time. The length of the outer shell keeps the cold and wind off your bottom without being too long. Nice the insert jacket is shorter than the outer coat so you can wear it for winter sports. This coat is a good all around, multi purpose choice for cold winters.

I've only had the 3 in 1 Parka for a few weeks. So far its held up well in +35 degrees F with rain / wet snow. I was dry and warm. Its got everything i need to survive in all kinds of weather! Just took it on a road trip across Utah and it works great. Especially like that it can become 2 jackets if you need to lend one to a friend
Classic winter parka that gets the job done. Runs a bit large so for 66 I got a large and fits well on torso but sleeves could be two inches longer. Glad they increased warm on inner liner compared to prior versions.
This jacket was exactly what I was looking for to deal with the cold, wet winters where I live. Wearing this jacket keeps me appropriately warmer and the fleece lined pockets an added bonus. Well designed and I would highly recommend for all your winter weather needs.
This coat is great for just every day life. You can dress it up and dress it down so easily. Living in a North Eastern city I need a good cold weather jacket that can take wind, rain, snow, sleet and everything else and this jacket does that in spades. Minor issues, the hand pocket does not have a magnetic closure like the video shows, it uses a snap closure like the rest of the jacket. The biggest flaw of the jacket is the chunky zipper used ... Read Morefor the hand pocket- you basically scrape it against your skin every time you use the pocket, which isn't that great at all. Also, using large winter gloves will cause a gap between the glove and sleeve which is hard to close, meaning cold wrists on those windy winter hikes.
But overall, I really like the jacket.
Really have enjoyed this coat so far. Super mobile in it on morning walks and it keeps my as warm Id like even on the coldest Midwestern days after long periods outside. Havent used it sectionally much yet but am excited to once spring comes.
Ive worn this in rain, snow, and whipping winds. Ive worn it walking throughout the city and commuting to work. It holds up perfectly. The removable inner layer is perfect to throw on for a midday errand if you wore the whole jacket to the office. Favorite outerwear Ive ever purchased!
I've had two ski seasons with the jacket. It handles everything well from Sierra blizzards to Vermont cold. Always keeps me dry and warm. The armpit vents are fantastic and help to cool me down. The pocket configuration is very practical. I started using the liner as outwear for trail running making it even more useful. All around great produc... Read Moret and value.
I get a lot of compliments on the jacket. I really like it. Only complaint is the exterior pockets. Very weird placement compared to every other jacket I have had. Not a huge deal breaker just need to get used to the pockets I guess. Have only had it a couple weeks so hopefully that happens. Warm jacket. 30 - 40 degree weather, type of jacket proba... It's been mild so far here in Maine this winter and I've been wearing the liner as a top layer. It's nice and you don't get too warm even when you go out in the upper 40s. However, just the other day I popped outside to walk the pups in the liner as you do and thought "oh it's nice out, I'll be fine sans gloves/ha... Read Moret". Reader, it was not nice out. I was not fine. 30 minutes later when we got home (yes I did the full walk even though I was freezing they're my dogs of course I did) my hands, legs, and face/head were all blue and numb. My torso, however, was toasty warm. I checked the temp, it was 19 degrees. I went outside in 19 degrees with no hat or gloves because in just the LINER of this coat it felt like the upper 50s. So. Lesson learned: check the temp before putting the coat on.
The concept of a down jacket that fits inside a water repellent coat works great for me. I can take out the jacket & wear alone, zip it in the coat & it is super toasty, or wear the coat alone if its raining & not too cold.
The title says it all. I'm out on location all the time and the inner layer keeps me warm, while the outer layer keeps me dry from the rain all while looking good.
My go-to jacket for all cold weather use! Have experienced all types of weather in this jacket (except locusts) and have barely felt affected even in the worst conditions (freezing wind and heavy snow, for example). Truly my favorite outerwear bar none.
By far my new favorite jacket. Super comfy, stylish, looks great. I'm military and stationed out in Hawaii for only a few more months, and it got shipped here super quick. I couldn't believe it only took a week. I cant wait to be able to wear it everyday, it can totally be used as a ski or snowboarding jacket. Lots of pockets. Fits true t... Read Moreo size.
I'm a 5'11 guy, about 175lbs and a medium fits perfect for me.
This jacket has been phenomenal. I live in the PNW and it is built for just that. Not to mention the impeccable customer service provided by Patagonia. Keep up the great work!
It does exactly what it advertises and very well. Stylish, waterproof, warm and adaptable to the weather conditions. I could not be happier and would recommend this parka to anyone. And what a great service at a difficult time for everyone.
Great fit. Love the versatility. Excellent compromise between performance and style. Will see how the H2no holds up, but jacket is great out of the box.
This is a top-quality product. It's hard to find good waterproof clothing that looks smart and good combination outerwear with removable layers, but the 3-in-1 hits the mark. It looks great, stays warm and feels very high quality; both the inner down jacket and the waterproof outer layer feel soft but durable. Plenty of pockets inside and out ... Read Moreand adjustable strings. My only minor gripe would be that with the zipper all the way down it's pretty uncomfortable to walk - thankfully you can zip it up from the bottom but it would've been better to just have the bottom fifth open for mobility.
It fits fairly big so worth trying a size down - I'm not a small fella but I settled on the S because its a bit more snug and looks sharp both with and without the inner layer.
Perfect for sub-zero walks around the city, remove the down and use it as a raincoat through autumn and spring, or use the down for cold morning walks. Classy design, great waterproofing, love the long length and pockets are great.
Well fitting mega warm jacket. It is smart enough for the office and warm enough for the harsh Scottish weather.
The magnets to hold the pockets down is a nice touch.
I work and live in the countryside and wanted something a bit more urban looking whilst having all attributes you want from a hard wearing jacket for all activities and this has fulfilled my requirement perfectly. It's got great large warm pockets, removable hood and inside down liner so it can be used year round as well.
Some stylistic changes to this classic that I was not a fan of, I ended up returning it and upgrading to the Frozen Range Parka. I used to have the old design Tres, and I loved it. Few reasons for the downgraded review:
-The pockets are no longer pouch style, and they are smaller. You have to put your hands in from the top and the chunky zipper is ... Read Moreuncomfortable. The old one would conceal tons of stuff in your pockets, with the new design just a few items in the pockets makes the silhouette chunky
-Inside pocket location changed and is less convenient
-There's some cinching on the bottom that is a bit awkward
-Storm flap in place of the waterproof zippers
-The liner puffer has changed a bit, I preferred the old straighter design. Don't like the cuffs and bottom of new design liner jacket

Best Customer Service
My package was reading that it was delivered a week before Christmas but it was nowhere to be found. I called Patagonia and the customer service Team was AMAZING. Perfect 3 in 1 combination, use alone as spring jacket, with hood ar a rain jacket and all three combine nice warm winter jacket. In any option, is a stylish parka also if you care for personal look. I have XS, still enough room for base and mid layer. Overall nice purchase.
Gifting occurred early this year for my family. I bought the Tres 3-in-1 parka for my son. He absolutely loves it! It works well for him because he lives in the city and the jacket is layered.
I bought this parka fully knowing that it's a jack-of-all-trades sort of jacket, and may not master anything to perfection. And it does exactly that. Warm enough as a combination for pretty cold days and easily adjustable to the situation. About my only real complaint is that the zippers are plain zippers for the body of the jacket. Thought it... Read More'd be a water-proof zipper. But the flap should cover water spillage in that situation. And it's less of a hassle.
I got this coat for my son when he moved to Chicago. He walks to work. He tells me almost everyday how warm this coat is for the weather. And, how versatile with the 3 options.
I am still searching for the perfect jacket. The Columbia has more outside and inside pockets. Patagonia sheds water better and stops wind better and hands feel warmer inside fleece lined pockets.. Neither have side vents for comfort when driving.
Overall, I think this is going to be a good choice for me. I was looking for something that could be used for a travel jacket but would double for use snowboarding.

Hello. Long time coat wearer here. I stand at 70 inches and this product fits quite nicely. I lined up my measurements in according to their provided table. The second zipper also makes for less awkward or uncomfortable sitting, especially while driving. It also holds up against strong winds too.
I would recommend this jacket to folks that have to deal with their changing weather as much as I do. If not, the Ms Tres is very good quality coat anyhow.
I think this jacket will become an urban legend for its style, versatility, warmth, comfort, and function. I love the 3-in-1 concept and bought the first version in the early 2000's. So I'm rooting for this coat and really want it to be the biggest and best purchase of my year. I've had to put off this purchase for a few years because they certainly aren't cheap. I finally broke down and bought it a couple of weeks ago. Patagonia has... Read More pretty universally taken away the concept of inside pockets in coats. And even in the 2 or 3 coasts where they haven't (frozen range parka) the inside pocket is more like an interior tent pouch than a coat pocket. Now on most of your coats, there is only an inside chest pocket, but no interior, large, waist level pockets for stocking hats, gloves, hand warmers, travel items, charging cords, etc. And to make this even more insulting, putting one or two those items in the two exterior pockets on this specific coat - or even simply resting my hands in them - with the oversized flaps is also really awkward and not ergonomic positioning. There wasn't enough overall length from the 3-in-1 Lone Mountain to cover a blazer (but that coat had excellent intuitive outside pockets that my hands slip into easily) but it also had no inside pockets. So, ultimately, I went with this coat because I was needing to replace my very old and crumbling, 3-in-1 that I have worn and fixed and worn and fixed for 10+ years. My final summation is that these coats have become really, really costly and then to find out you've stripped out essentials like interior pockets was enough motivation to make a 20+ year fan of ALL things Patagonia to write a product request disguised as a review - Bring Back the Pockets! to all of your shells, coats and other outerwear. What were you thinking?
I was hesitant in purchasing this jacket given the price but I have zero regrets. Comfort, warmth, versatility come to mind after two weeks of use. It's made my commutes to the office and weekend hikes more enjoyable.
Bought for my husband who wouldn’t wear a coat - now he wears one finally!
Perfect coat for a man who wants one coat for all seasons. He can throw in the top layer solo for rain, the under layer solo for autumn, both layers for winter and grab one or the other when he runs out for lunch. I’ve been eyeing this coat since last winter. Just scooped it up since the temp is dropping and cold rain is the worst. The shell is a perfect rain coat.
