I tried a bunch of the fancy/trendy ski jackets (Montec, HH, Arcteryx, etc.) and came back to this. It has everything you need and none of the shiny bells and whistles that you dont. It has enough insulation it can be used on its own for an around town jacket and is thin enough to do the classic base-mid-shell trinity for cold weather. Build is fan... Read Moretastic. Zippers are fantastic. All the pockets you need for skiing (cant speak to boarding). Fit is great. Im 6 foot 2 inches 210 lbs with a 36 waist and broad shoulders. XL was perfect. Dont be fooled by their 6 ft models wearing a medium- thats not going to work if you like to move you arms above your waist. Go with whatever shirt size you normally wear and youll be happy. This thing is worth the price and an absolute steal when its on sale.
Great modern Ski Jacket
At first I was hesitant to receive this jacket as a warranty replacement, for a old powder bowl jacket.. WELL all it took was a week long ski trip to Steamboat to change my Mind.. 1st off: The insulated hood is awesome, It was snowing hard everyday, and this feature kept the snow out and warmth in. Has all the modern ski jacket items, zippered ar... Read Morem pass pocket, pit zips, good powder skirt, excellent deep drop inside pocket and a zip inside pocket for snacks and extra clothes or a water bottle. I typically always wear a insulated jacket here in Colorado , except for late spring skiing. This Jacket has the perfect amount of insulation. Too much and its bulky and not enough, well its cold. I wear a R1 and down vest most days while skiing in the jacket., in the single digits its the down sweater or Nano jacket. Great work Patagonia!
Great jacket but sizing is off
I'm 5'10, 155 lbs with a 32" waist and 34" arms. The medium size was too big - sleeves were way too long and it was boxy. I returned and went with a small, which is a little snug when I layer, but far better than the medium. I skied for 3 days in this jacket at Vail last week and temps ranged from 5 F to 25F. I wore a wool basel... Read Moreayer underneath and was never cold. Overall - great jacket and would be 5 stars but for the sizing.

Decent but imperfect fit, most features good
Material and build quality is perfect as usual for the brand. Fit is ok- at 6 foot, 175 lbs but muscular/athletic, its roomy everywhere for layering which I wanted except for the upper back/shoulders- even with no layers with the rest of the fit baggy, its hard to raise my arms up or reach forward with both arms. But thats typical of outdoor brands... Read More- not cut for muscular builds really. All features are great except powder skirt is too loose and its not adjustable- how much would adding two more snaps really have cost? So great quality with flawed design for my build. If you are not an athletic build, it will be true to size and perfect 5/5 for you. At the end of season sale price, Im satisfied with it. Would not pay full price.
I went to ten shops at Boulder's Pearl Street Mall plus REI. I chose a Patagonia ski jacket and pants in Siskiyou brown and cabin gold. The jacket has five pockets, more than most others I saw. The outfit matches, and stands out in a crowd, making me easier for my ski buddies to spot. The saleswoman, Alexsis, was so helpful I had trouble dispa... Read Moressionately evaluating the competing products. I wish you had a large jacket with sleeves 3 inches shorter. The medium is tight on my torso. I also wish you had an external clip on the jacket for my carabiner and whistle. I want to be able to reach it with either hand in a tree well. Why have you and all your competitors done away with the hugely helpful external clip?
Overall good but sleeves are long
The jacket is nice but the sleeves are very long. Additional pockets will be nice.

The jacket is great for the price you pay. It definitely runs large, I'm 6'2" and had to get a medium. I've used this jacked in sub 20 degrees F and you will need a mid layer along with a thermal. In some cases, I have had to add 2 mid layers for sub 10 degrees F. Jacket blocks wind well and stays dry.
Not good for "Powder Town"
This jacket is awesome and fits great, but I purchased it for powder skiing and the snow skirt is larger the the jacket so it does not fit tight to you body and has no adjustment to it. So would not recommend in " powder town"

Hi Chad! Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We're really sorry to hear about the disapointment with the powder skirt. We rely on feedback like this to improve products for future seasons so we'll share this with our design team. Awesome, Warm, Not Bulky Jacket
Great jacket for resort skiing. Just the right amount of insulation and key features like powder skirt and pit zips. Helpful if there was some consistency with Patagonia Snow Sports jacket outer napoleon pockets. My phone in a weather insulation case will not fit in this one but does on other Patagonia models.
