Well the fit certainly isn't going to WOW anyone (very oversized) but this is the sort of piece that one keeps a lifetime. Its super thick, yummy brown, excellent quality, lots of pockets and just as warm, water protecting and timeless as it gets. Not sexy, just practical! Really wished this would've fit nicely. I started off ordering a large and had to return 2 to get down to the size that fit me which was a small. I'm usually a large in women's Patagonia gear. The material was so nice but the style on the shoulders just made me look like a linebacker.
Got this on sale, and yes, it is very oversized. I got the medium and the small would’ve been a way better fit but they were sold out. I will say that the silhouette and cut of this is flattering! It works well with the oversized fit and I can wear a cozy sweater under this shirt. I’ve gotten loads of compliments since I’ve worn it.

I have been eyeing this jacket for a long time and when it went on sale, I was so excited to buy it. I read the reviews about how boxy the fit is but I often prefer an oversized fit for layering so I went for it.
I am 5'5", about 180lbs and have a very curvy shape. I usually choose a size L, or XL for an extra comfy fit, but after reading... Read More others' reviews, I chose size M. The length, both arm and actual jacket, were totally fine. The material is something I want to live in for the rest of my life; soft, warm cozy, durable and beautiful. But the jacket made it look as though I was supposed to have football player's shoulder pads on in order to fill out the jacket (no exaggeration, and I played foot ball in high school).
It was also snug on my hips when I buttoned the lowest button, but I am used to this happening so don't feel as though this is unique to this jacket. If I had chosen size L, this would have likely been okay.
I am a farmer and I work outside year-round. I wanted this to be my early morning field walk jacket, or quick run outside to turn on/off irrigation and to wear to the farmers market all winter long. I have no doubt it would keep me cozy and warm but with the fit the way it is, I will be returning it.

Sturdier than I anticipate and
Sturdier than I anticipate and that's great because it will work well into the colder months. It's broad in the shoulders so if you're more petite up top I would probably recommend sizing down.
The overall quality of this jacket is very good. The material is thick, warm and very durable. However, the execution and sizing is off. I get that this is supposed to be oversized, as it should be. But the cut and proportions are just too unflattering and awkward to pull off being an "oversized" shirt jacket. I really wanted to keep this... Read More jacket, but I had to return it because I looked like I was drowning in it, even in a size small. Please make another version that is cut and sewn more appropriately.
Beautiful jacket but the fit is for a very broad shouldered woman. I look like I still have a hanger in the coat when I'm wearing it. It's a really unflattering cut, even if I were to size down.

Fit was totally off
I had been looking at this and got it when it went in sale. This is one of those pieces that was somehow photographed to look really attractive on the model - jacket open, hands in pockets, and the sleeves folded up. On me this looked absolutely terrible - the shoulders dropped much too low and the sleeves were too long unless you fold them up like... Read More the photo. I bought a medium and a large and both looked absurd on me. I would say that I am average size in the shoulder area and that this seemed several sizes too big in the shoulders. The material was super thick and substantial which added to the weird fit of it since it wouldn't lay flat. Sent both of them back.

So warm, nice fit with right sizd
I am 6 ft tall and have been looking for a shacket style for so long but they're always so short on me and dont hit me right. This is more like a jacket instead of a shirt, it is super warm and really flattering. You just have to get the size right. I also like having room to layer. I got a M in this and the reviews are correct, runs really large. You're fine to size down and even still be able to layer underneath. The wool is incredibly warm, not too itchy, the brown color is so nice! I am sooo glad I got this! I will get a lot of use out of this where I live. For 100% wool, completely worth it!
I love wool jackets and wanted to love this so badly. It was really close to being perfect but I ultimately decided to return it because I found the design to be a bit too oversized. Soft, thick, and warm.
I got the brown jacket and I love it so much. Im about 170 lbs, wear size 12-14 in womens pants, and have an hourglass figure. I ordered a large but it felt too big for me so I exchanged it for a medium which fits great. Its snug around my wide hips if I button the bottommost button. And for it being snug around the hips if I button it its still roomy enough to wear a hooded sweater underneath. Other buyers comment that the cut is boxy around the shoulders which is true but the garment softens with a few wears and will lay more smoothly over the shoulders. I have this great vintage woolwich shirt that is on its last legs, and I had hoped that this might be a replacement for that. It is unfortunately not in any way a shirt, but instead a very thick, very warm, nicely made jacket. I expect it would last generations. While it wasn't what I was after, I decided to keep it because it is a great jacket. The fit is large and cozy. It might be too large, the arm holes are voluminous. But it layers like a dream, and doesn't restrict movement. We had record cold temps of -50 last weekend and I did farm chores in this layered over my down puff, and I was toasty warm. I would not say its flattering, but we live in Maine and flattering just isnt at the top of my priority list for winter outerwear. Amazingly I actually dont find it too bulky, you can drive in it, or grocery shop, and its a classy casual look with dresses etc, which my down puff just didn't offer. Im 5 ft 6 in, and an athletic 165lbs- straight, not curvy, definitely not a small. I bought a medium, most of my Patagonia is medium. I do wonder if a small might have looked better, but I didn't want to send it back and risk having the sleeves too short or have it be tight across the shoulders. I am somewhere between a small & medium size & I am glad ordered a small! The jacket is made from lovely soft wool. Not itchy at all! The length is perfect and the curved hem is very stylish. I very carefully cold washed on delicate, hoping it may soften the shoulders a little. (I had to translate the washing instructions as they weren't in English!) I layed it flat to dry on a towel & gently reshaped while damp. I feel that with time it will soften & hang a little better through the arms. Great layering piece, just needs a little fine tuning on the shoulders so the seam is more in line with the side of my shoulders rather than sticking out a few inches.
Soft but structured. Oversized but fitted. The brown works with an all-black outfit in the city or with a natural wool turtleneck in the woods. A lifelong jacket for three seasons.
I initially bought a large but swapped for medium which is still a relaxed fit and good for layering over a tee and jumper. Its warm and snug and I love it

Through the woods, an outdoor market or bingeing Maine Cabin Masters. Versatility and comfort. Flattering length. Structured but soft to the touch. A deep brown that goes well with black or neutral layers. I will wear this everywhere. Even if I shouldn't.

I ordered this in an XL and it was too big. I exchanged for a L and it was still quite big even for an oversized fit. The quality of the garment is amazing but comes with a steep price tag. I may have kept it if I liked the pattern/style more but couldnt justify the cost per wear.
