I love this jacket. It's beautiful. It's my favorite color (navy blue) with an awesome trim color. It's also warm which comes in handy in the cold. One must look good in the outdoors. Very light and holds well at 30F
It is my first Patagonia jacket. It is very light and warm enough for the PNW winter. I am wearing it in 30F weather and keeps me warm enough when I am moving around, if not walking, then it keeps me warm enough at 40F. When I transition indoors it does not get uncomfortably warm which is a plus.
Very comfortable and lightweight
Very comfortable jacket and Its pretty warm considering how light it is. It feels like it weighs nothing is easy to move around in but keeps me warm when its in the low 30s/ high 20s and windy. The jacket overall is great but the moment you step outside in any sort of humid weather, it will begin to smell awful. This jacket smells like a wet dog and due to this no matter how great it fits, feels, and performs, its not worth it.

Great - worth the money
A very light, comfortable and effective down jacket. It is tight around the hips which is perfect because wind wouldn't come through. It is a nice navy blue which will still look great in 10 years time. I bought it together with the parka and both fit perfectly together, both in M, my normal size. I would definitely buy it again . Perfect size, weight and warmth
Looked at a couple other brands before settling on the Down Sweater Jacket and couldnt be happier. The fit is perfect, true to size but not baggy and slim through the torso. Super light but punches above its weight class in warmth, keeps plenty warm even below freezing temps.
Warm jacket but damaged in first week
The jacket fits nicely and is very warm but less than a week from the time I got the jacket it started leaking feathers. Was hoping for a higher quality product that would last me a bit longer before I saw started seeing wear.
Hi Joe, thank you for taking the time to share this review. We’re sorry to hear your Down Sweater is leaking feathers! You may be able to keep them intact by pulling them back into the baffle from the other side, and then firmly rubbing the fabric with your thumbs to “heal” any hole that has formed. In any case, we want you to be happy with everything you purchase from us, and if you like we'll be happy to help you [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) it.
Durable Everyday Jacket
I have had my jacket for 3.5 years now. I probably wear it everyday from November till March and its still good as new. I usually layer it over a hoodie but its warm enough I dont have to. Easily keeps me warm in temps close to 0F and Im also comfortable in it when its 50. This jacket singlehandedly made me a Patagonia customer for life.
I own a Silent Down shirt jacket and its been a staple for my casual day-to-day Minnesota winter wear, but with travel picking up again for the holidays, I've been looking for a more packable down jacket to lighten the load during travel and I heard a lot of good things about the Down Sweater Jacket. What I like about this jacket: it feels good to the touch as a standalone piece over a t-shirt, and is roomy enough to layer a hooded pullover underneath, and it is lightweight and packable. What I didnt like: the overall warmth was disappointing, and there are some pockets of the jacket where it feels like the down is either sparse or there is none at all, especially in the sleeves. I expected that a newer version of this jacket would have been fuller, so with all the pros and cons considered I think this jacket is just OK.
The Perfect Layer
Overall, I love this coat. This was my first experience with down and I cant believe I never owned an article of clothing with it before. The jacket fits great, its warm, and incredibly light. The only grievance I have with it is that the polyester exterior is incredibly thin. The day after I unwrapped the jacket, there were already little feathers... What is: my daily driver during the cooler days and colder evenings. feels good, light, soft and a good fit. Looks good and easy to wash. The Patagonia logo messages environmental consciousness.. What isn't: the inside pocket zipper has a tendency to get stuck.
Why did I wait
I have several of the puff jackets and vest and really like them and they have served me well. I want to get something a little warmer and hoped more compact. Warm but Feathery
3/4 STAR REVIEW: This is my FIRST Patagonia Jacket and wasn't sure how the sizing would go so I took a look at their size chart and measured myself. It turned out I was a Large. Read Moreas promoted as a warm water resistant jacket. It had to be something I could wear around on a cold and/or windy day/night, casually or even something I could wear while snowboarding or skiing. Especially with the well hidden pull cords, it seemed like i had found the one. After a few days, I received the notification that it was left on my front porch. I was really excited! I liked that it was packaged inside a recycled paper envelope. The jacket looked amazing. I immediately put it on and began to sweat (which was a good sign). On the second day, I noticed feathers sticking out from the jacket. It was pretty upsetting because I had high expectations. The hole left after pulling out the feathers sticking out is very minimal and not noticeable at all but it's still a letdown. I'm on the verge between 3 or 4 stars but because I love the jacket overall aside the feather flaw, I left a 4.
This is a Thanksgiving gift for my husband. He has a standard shape can measure the clothes. This sweater has good material, but has wider breast , thinner stomach and shorter . I consider returning it if I can find another good sweater.

Great jacket, runs small!
This is a great jacket for fall back east and perfect winter jacket for California. Very well made but definitely order a size up for men's and women's down sweater. Hands down my favorite article of clothing, ever. This is a wearable woobie. Only its better than a woobie. Great, versatile piece
Very warm for the weight. With just a tee on, I would use this for layering when temps go below 1 or 2 degrees celsius but it is warm enough on it's own above that. Great, light-weight warmth
I needed a light-weight jacket for cool and sometimes cold days, part of a layering plan. The down sweater jacket is perfect - great with a t-shirt on a cool evening or chilly morning, but just as versatile and warm on a cold day with a sweater or fleece pullover underneath. It's the perfect jacket - it goes with everything!
Great jacket for the foggy summers days of San Francisco
I love the jacket and hope it lasts a long time! Only thing that isn't perfect is the sleeves are very tight and getting my hands out is a little difficult. I try to be very gentle when pulling my hands out so the material does get stretched and age prematurely.
I ordered this for my husband for Father's Day. It fits in the body perfectly, I ordered a large because I have found that Patagonia sizes are smaller that other sources. this jacket fits like a Medium from other sources. A great all around coat
This is a great all around coat. In western PA, I start wearing this in September and make use of it through the winter and into early spring. Great jacket or layer
A very nice piece from Patagonia. Really like the multi-color version - looks great. Sizing is little tough for me, I went with the large as I'm a slender 6'4" but had to return it for a M. The L was just too baggy in the chest, and the M fits much better. Could still be a bit longer in the sleeves but it's fine.

Love, benchmark down sweater
My wife took my size medium, which was getting snug on me so I bought this in a large. I'm now 5'10" 185 and it's the perfect fit/cut. Amazing quality and feel
When I first got it out of the package, it looked a little bit smaller, but as soon as you touched it, you immediately see the level of craftsmanship and quality that you're dealing with. It feels amazing and even though the fabrics feel light, it's very warming. Great product, totally recommend
My first Patagonia disappointment
This is actually my second review of this jacket. Originally, I had nothing but good things to say. It was a 5-star product and one that I fell in love with almost immediately. In a lot of ways that made what happened next even more disappointing. I used the jacket a grand total of three times before feathers started to come out of the jackets seem... Read Mores (not sure if thats the correct spelling on that, I apologize if not). Strangest of all the activities I used it for were not demanding. I used it around the house, shopping, and sitting around the fire at my friends house late into the night. The day after that last gathering I noticed six different spots where feathers were leaking. I ended up taking it to the Patagonia store I bought it from and they took it for store credit. I'd like to point out that what I'm describing is abnormal for Patagonia's product quality. I have several other products from them that have preformed much better. I believe that I may have received a faulty product, so your experience with this jacket might be better. Personally, I'd recommend going with a synthetic option instead as I've found them to be more reliable. The ones I'm looking at now are the Micro puff and DAS light.
My favorite jacket
I'm now on my second Men's Down Sweater. The first lasted for a solid 9 years without losing too much down and still being warm and insulating; it never tore despite me using it for hundreds of camping, hiking, skiing and other outdoor trips. Jacket had holes where the feathers are falling out off. Looks like a manufacturer defects.
Hello Yency, we're sorry that the down was coming out of your jacket! This can be the nature of down insulated items. Finally, I found my perfect jacket!
It feels like Ive been through every puffy Patagonia has to offer this last week. Here is whats good: lofty and warm, feels like a warm hug, packs down really well, colors and materials are spot on, quality is good (as it should be, quite an expensive jacket), is warmer than it looks. I have one complaint about this jacket. It doesnt have interior drop in pockets! Please Patagonia! Put drop in pockets in all the jackets! All in all really, really good. Fits me well although I am on the more slim side of things. I dont think you can go wrong with this jacket. I look forwards to having it for years and years to come!
Just the right amount of insulation
It's just the amount of warmth I wanted, typically use it for mid-20's to mid 40's kind of weather. At 5'5" but with broad shoulders, a medium is a perfect fit. A discreetly tucked in hood could be an improvement--the jacket that replaced this with had one which came in handy.
I've had a bunch of these over the last twenty years and I wear them until they are toast. Great for casual wear when it's pretty warm because they breathe, great as a layer beneath a shell for winter when it's cold. I prefer the older inner pocket with the horizontal zipper to the newer one with the vertical zipper.
Season After Season, My Go-To Piece
I have owned this jacked for more years than I know. At least 5, made as many as 10. It is a go-to piece for every use in Vermont. It is probably my favorite all around piece. It is light and versatile and warmer and more stuff able than synthetics. And it cleans up well. I toss it in the washer and then the dryer with tennis balls and voila, like new. Two years ago, I was shoveling snow against the house and didn't see a vent behind me. Rrrrip! Sent it to Patagonia and they cheerfully repaired it, not just the rip but a few worn places. I made a mistake earlier this winter, I traversed several acres of briars in a logged area and back again. The rips were big and gnarly and I sliced my jacket up in 4-5 places. I asked Patagonia what to do. They said, "Send it to us, we'll see what we can do." Like me, Patagonia likes to see stuff last as long as it can. Unfortunately, after looking at it, the folks in the repair department said it was "beyond repair". I think they were right. The time to repair it was more than creating a new jacket. But wonderful Patagonia wasn't done. They gave me a partial credit I could use toward a replacement. I ordered a replacement right away. Same great jacket, but I have to say the newer version feels a little more snug than my old jacket. This does happen at Patagonia. Same styles can change fit slightly over time. I still love the jacket, but maybe I will have to put the heavier fleeces on the outside. That would have been a good idea in the briar patch... Thank you Patagonia for my replacement credit and for all those years of service before and to come with the new jacket!
