What to say? The Best

A great product! Great support and fit.

True to size

I recently bought a pair, fearful if size was correct as i have been experiencing discomfort with other brands. I bought this pair in my true shoe size and they came really roomy and comfortable, i can even use thicker socks! the boot is great, pretty solid and resistant.

I bought the Foot Tractor wading boots and they arrived even before than expected. The boot feels great, comfortable space for your toes and heavy duty construction. I bought them in my actual shoe size as recommended on the website, and they fit great.

Wading boot

Very good product. First trip out they were very comfortable and provided excellent grip with the studs.

Nice idea but a miss

I have enjoyed Patagonia products for many years. however these boots are a disappointment. They dry out to the point of having to wet them before hand is order to make them pliable and just discovered a cracked heel cup 2 yrs old and limited use

Addendum to Previous Review

I just put these through their paces for a week long trip. Much of my time in these was in a float tube. They did fit in my closed toe Buck's Bags fins with a bit of space at the toe of the fin. The toe box on these is substantial. They are heavy boots. Great support for walking on the head-sized boulders on the Big Wood in Idaho. The rubber p... Read Moreerformed very well for wading. Really no slipping. This was not my experience in previously on rock slabs in NC which is why I'm inclined to recommend the aluminum version. These boots are very comfortable, and very easy to put on and take off. After a week of tube fishing and hiking around the only wear is the finish came off the toes. They look even better now.

Great boot

I have the Foot Tractors with rubber soles and studs. I'm a size 12 with a fairly narrow foot, and the Foot Tractors in size 12 are a perfect fit with my normal setup of neoprene wader booties and hiking socks. The boots are incredibly easy to put on and take off. With studs, the traction is excellent on my local freestone rivers--better than ... Read Moremy previous studded Simms Freestone guide boots. The weight and ankle support provide nice stability for negotiating rocky stream beds and trails. I've used the boots four times, and I find them comfortable and supportive for 4- and 5-hour sessions on the river with no foot fatigue or sore spots. I even like how they look. But I really like that they can be repaired, unlike my Simms boots. You won't want to carry these boots for long distances in a backpack or daypack, but I'm sure you already knew that. I love these boots and doubt I'll ever need to buy another pair.

Great support comfy all day

Great support comfy all day wading. Wore with waders and wet waded with thick socks. Soles pretty sticky didnt put in the included studs as I have another pair of boots with studs so these are for float days

Great set of boots

These are a great set of wading boots. The tread is very sticky and provides a stable platform when wading and hiking. The leather is durable, however it is prone to scuffing. The leather has also stretched a bit so the boot runs a little larger than before. Overall its a good buy.

Not the boot for me

These boots seem to be great quality. Soles are very heavy like an old hiking boot uppers are soft and thin and are not supportive they remind me of combat boots. No where to clip gaiter hook from waders. Water drains out slowly adding to the heavy feel. I am wearing my old wading boots for guiding and looking for a new home for these foot tractors... Best Boot I've ever owned

I read a lot of reviews before buying these boots. Having been fly fishing for over 25 years I've gone through many boots and wasn't sure about they hype. I will say having used these now for 1 month and about 10 outings - they are the most comfortable and sturdiest boots I have owned. As to sizing there were so many conflicting opinions ... Read More- I went with my gut. I wear a size 10 street shoe - and bought size 11 (one size up as I always do for wading boots) and they fit me perfectly. My feet slide in and when I lace up I feel like i'm wearing an old pair of hiking boots. Five stars all the way.

Well made boot but sizing runs small

This is a well constructed boot. I would not have returned them if size was correct. My only complaint is sizing with a boot foot wader. You need at least 1 size up if not 2 . I would not recommend ordering online as you really need to try them on with your socks and boot foot wader to get the correct size.

Excellent selection for wading

The Patagonia Foot Tractor Wading Boots - Sticky Rubber wading boots with the studs provide excellent traction on slippery stream beds and the rubber compound provides good grip on dry rocks along streams. True to size, good support and comfortable. I would definitely recommend these wading boots.

Size issue

Wear size 10 normally so decided get 11 for wader boots they were tight with socks and waders also the EU size on box said 42.5. Should be 45 for US 11 so confusing. But to be fair Patagonia had good customer service and I ended up keeping size 11 even though a little snug hoping they stretch out a little with wear.

Love these Boots. Buy the Aluminum Bars if you fish on rock

Purchased these a couple of months ago. I tried a couple of times on the size. I usually wear a 10. Tried that, didn't fit. Went up to 11, still too small. I landed on size 12. I am wearing thick wool socks with Sealskinz waterproof socks with Patagonia waders. Once I dialed in the size, the boots are heavenly. They feel soo good on my feet. A... Read Morenkle support is better than expected on uneven ground. They are on the heavier side but I do not feel like I would have a hard time walking a few miles in them if I needed to. I live in Lower Michigan where there rivers I fish are mostly sand and gravel, but fish mostly on a spring creek so I went with the sticky rubber. I happened to be in western NC on rock/freestone last week. The rubber is great on un-slimy rock but if slime was involved I really whish I would have sprung for the aluminum plates or at least had the studs in. I don't like studs as I wear flippers for some of the water I fish and studs are a PITA. As for flipper fit. I used closed toe, Buck's Bag flippers for my tube but will have to change to an open-top flipper if I want to use these boots because of the substantial toe box. As for wear, after four days of moderate use the leather shows wear where I braced my foot against rocks and such. nothing substantial, just took the shine off. I would buy them again in a heartbeat because I love how they feel, how they are made and because they are recraftable. For as little as I fish freestone I still would have purchased the aluminum bar version.

So far so good

I have just received the boots so it tough to give a full review but so far so good. The fit is a little big but not bad. They are made well and feel pretty bombproof. Ill update on how they wear after some use.

No traction

The construction is bulletproof and a well-made boot. Comfortable. Fits well. But on the first day out Ive never slipped all over the place in a boot like this. No traction. Ive tried to move away from felt soles, but Im taking these back to exchange for the aluminum bars or felt.

Iron fist in a velvet glove

Great boots. Stable and consistent. These arent super light boots but they provide confidence and comfort while in the water. I thought the boots were well-designed and well -made. I couldn't get comfortable with the fit and had to return them. I am a 13 street and tried them on with my waders. I was disappointed but that's life in the slow lane. If the fit had worked, I would have kept the boots and I am sure I would have enjoyed them.

Really impressed

I recently purchased a pair of these and am incredibly impressed with their overall quality. Sizing was a slight issue. The sizing chart listed my size as a 10. Worth the high price tag

I thought I was going crazy when I bought these boots. I mean who spends that much on wading boots? But my old ones werent cutting it anymore and I didnt want to buy a pair every couple of years. I decided the Foot Tractor was the way to go. I mean if I didnt like them I could always send them back. I ordered two pair a 10 and an 11. I wear a size ... Read More10 shoe and wanted to get the best fit since they were so expensive. I ultimately went with the size 10 as they were a perfect fit with my waders on. My first day out I was shocked at how much better they griped the slick rocks in the river, as well as how much better they supported my ankle on the basketball sized boulders. I also really like how the entire boot can be rebuilt by Danner should they ever need repair. The only drawback is the high price tag but after wearing them in the river Id say theyre worth it. 10/10 Id recommend.

I have to say that I'm actually blown away with the quality of these boots. I tried them on straight out of the box with my waders on and they are very, very comfy. Foot tractor wading boot

I have only tried the boots out once on the river but already I can feel the difference from my old but well served wading boot. The Tractor wading boot feels robust, easy to wear, secure in the river and easy to remove after a day on the water. I trust these boots will last as long as I want them and give me many untroubled days on the river.

I love these boots. These boots are made in the USA. I thought they might be a little too bulky to wear all day, they are not. Frankenstein was the doctor's name

I have the aluminum studs version. The traction on these boots is outstanding across the board, from loose dirt slides, to railroad embankments, to slick cobbles and boulder gardens. My last boot

I bought these back in August and wanted to get at least 30 days fishing in them before I wrote a review. To get the right fit I ordered size 12 & 13 so I could compare the fits in my wading pant vs my full waders. My normal street shoe size is 13 but I ended up keeping the size 12 boot. They are solid and comfortable, just like the handmade boot it is - think Limmer! The quality & craftsmanship are top notch. Traction is great for scrambling around on ledges and over boulders. In-stream traction is just what I expect with rubber soles without bars (I didn't install the screws that came in the box. Nice touch by the way!) With leather boots the fit is always snug when you first put them on but as soon as you step in the water the leather relaxes and the fit eases no matter what waders or sock combo is used. After the first few days out the leather started looking pretty scuffed up. I called customer service and they recommended treating the leather so I picked up some clear, Danner Boot Dressing and it worked great. With one application they looked like new for the rest of the season. My only misgiving is that I would prefer lacing hooks that go all the way to the top rather than the threading the last few and may have a local cobbler do that. Bottom line- this is the lifetime boot I have always wanted.

Read Moreskeptical ( sorry but most companies don’t work well together) but I trust both these brands so I dove in with out trying them on. First got them and was very impressed with the construction/ Minimalistic design. No bells and whistles just leather boots built for guides. They took a bit to break in and thats when I knew these boots are going to kick ass. I wore them for 141 days straight guiding in Alaska, hiking 4-8 miles a day and standing all day on uneven surfaces. Which also means I wore them cutting trees down, building construction, splitting wood and basic grunt work of running a lodge in a very remote section of Alaska. My skeptic was silenced and I was impressed how tough they are, hardly any signs of wear and the treads are still holding strong. Some things to know, they fit better with Patagonia waders, their booties seem to be thicker than Other brands. Still comfortable with other brands but a much more comfortable fit with Patagonia waders. I think I needed a size up from a 10 but that is my fault because I didn’t try them on in a store before purchase. They are a bit heavy, but feel great in the water. But hey these boots will last forever. Side note my feet aren’t your average humans foot, most of my toes have been broken and my arches are different from one foot to the other. Finding any boots that fit well is a blessing and these are better than any other boot out there for me. I did pair them with custom insoles.

Patagonia Foot Tractor Wading Boots

Just back from a Montana fishing trip. We hiked/ waded 3 to 10 miles a day for a week in the the boots, so I ran the boots thru a lot of varied terrain. They held up well through all the scrambling and wading, and were comfortable. I think they run a touch large but they are a wading boot not a hardcore hiking boot. My one complaint: I have studded... Read More boots in the past and almost everyone of the screw in studs pulled out and I ended up with one stud left in each boot by the end of the week.

Luv them!

Having several pairs of Danner boots in my closet and that these were made by them immediately got my attention. And they didn't disappoint. I was amazed at how well they performed walking around a river bed made of small to 6-7" mossy stones. At no point did I feel like I'd slip. I went with the sticky rubber option. Being a rock cl... Read Moreimber I'm familiar with sticky rubber shoes and wondered how it would perform wet, as I said they performed great. No Danner boot is cheap but you will wear them for years and years and years, and when they do wear out most can be sent back to Danner and have life breathed back into them. Patagonia did a great job teaming with Danner. Being a bonehead I ordered a size to large and patagonia went the extra mile to get me the right one overnight. I kept the over sized, they'll be my winter fishing boots.

These boots are made for wading and that’s just what they’ll do!

So comfortable and they dry quickly. Perfect for spending the day exploring the river and walking to different spots. The sticky rubber with metal studs grip mossy rock well and are light enough to not be an issue fishing a full day. These boots are comfortable right out of the box. Very stoked and highly recommend.

Finally found a boot !

I have used more boots in the past two years than I care to admit. Nothing has held up for me longer than 4 months of use. This boot from day one I know I can count on. The build quality speaks for itself just from the initial use I feel these are going to last. The best part is I know I can have them recrafted for when the times comes. I felt they... Read More fit very true to size like all other danner boots. The extra pair of laces is a huge plus too!

Best wading boot I've had

I had a pair of Danner Matterhorns in the Army (Infantry) and never regretted spending my meager enlisted pay on them. I came to love them for their durability, the fact they could be resoled, and all around comfort. I owned other Danner footwear over the years, and was really excited when Patagonia partnered with Danner for the new wading boots. M... Read Morey first time out, they were easy to get on, lace comfortably, and had perfect traction (the sole + kold kutters - not a fan of the included cleats) for the GL tribs I fish. They accommodate bulkier socks (I wear a size 10 shoe, and purchased these in size 11) and they fit just like my Matterhorns did. I put a good amount of miles on these already, and am a big fan. Well done, Danner and Patagonia (I did condition them with Danner boot conditioner) Tweak the included cleats to something better would be my only recommendation for improvement.

What Lasts Forever???

I really like my New Patagonia Wading Boots. Really comfortable and traction like I’ve never experienced before. I’ve hiked in them, and spent a few long days in them so far. Things I don’t like: A) I have some heel lift that I need to address- almost too much room in the heel pocket. B) the lacing system is hard to keep tight. I re-laced them ... Read Moreto cross each other and that helps. C) the top 2 or 3 eyelets on the boot could have been “quick lace” or open hooks. Untying them each and everyday is a pain. I think they are a good boot- probably the best I’ve ever tried on. Not sure about the last forever part of the deal. I’m curious about New Designs they come up with, or modifications down the road that I’ll need to upgrade to. Overall a great boot though.

Dinner Wading Boots are the Finest Ever

I fish. A lot. I have probably worn out over 7 or 8 pair of wading boots over the last 30+ years. These new Patagonia/Danner boots are as comfortable as my best hiking boots. Here’s to another 30 years with only one pair.

Been waiting decades for this boot...

Have been fly fishing most of my life, since I was 3 years old in fact and been in the sport professionally since I was in my early 20's and have worn nearly every boot made for US companies in that time. This is the most comfortable boot I have ever worn and for someone who has been accustomed to felt in local rivers, a rubber only sole was a... Read Moren apprehensive adjustment. That said, on some of the slickest rivers in the PNW and around the world, I have rarely felt more secure and sure footed than in these boots. Over a year in them now and they have molded to my considerably messed up feet so well I can spend 12 days in them easily and could sleep in them if necessary. Foot slips in easily, more than ample support around the ankle with much less fabric and other contents than other boots usually have. Pricey they are but I simply can't imagine someone feeling any degree of disappointment with this boot. Made in America is nice as well!
