I usually wear small size for shorts or pants, but it runs a bit large. It looks ok but x-small looks much better for me.
Beside that, I love blue color and fabric. It is just awesome and love it. I am a big Patagonia's fan and can't wear any other brands. I am so happy for my shorts.
I'm a long-time Patagonia fan. I like the shorts a lot. . .the fit, color, comfort. I would like them even a little longer and with a v cut up the side for even a little more movement. I loved the old baggies long that are no longer made.

Excellent shorts!
These shorts are super nice for running, hiking, and even for casual wear (among other things). The liner is very comfortable. The shorts are quick drying and they do not make me feel warm and sweaty on hot days. I like these shorts so much I have two pair!
I am 145 lbs and the mediums fit best all around. I love the style of these, super light weight perfect for a summer hike or run. The inner lining is light weight and seamless too. Just wish they had pockets!
They get protective length and three huge zippered pockets. We get "cute" length and one micro zippered pocket. When a credit care-sized phone is invented, this womens micro pocket will be so useful. It's 2023, why is "womens" still code for "lame"?

Versatile Short - great length option!
This is a super short for hiking/running. At 50+yo - I admittedly welcome the longer inseam - and it's not too long at all. No chafe, no bunching. The liner is the right size for the shorts, and plenty of room to wear undies if you prefer to double up. Love love love. I'm about 5ft 5in tall and 145 lbs and love these shorts! They are light weight with a very light liner as well. Perfect length and fit around my thighs. Only thing they're missing are pockets. One small pocket in the very back though.
Love the longer length on these. Wish they had a slightly higher rise in the waist and larger pocket. I can squeeze my iPhone 13 mini in the pocket but its not easy.
These are very comfortable! I wear them for beach volleyball, Pickleball and hiking. They are great for anytime!
I am not a huge fan of the built in liner though.

Ok shorts- would be great with some changes
I was very excited for these shorts. I had read in other reviews that some thought the liner was too tight and they were a bit too low rise, but I took a chance. After wearing them on a few walks, I have to agree with those other reviews. The shorts have a liner that is a bit too tight (I would expect them to be a bit looser with them being loose s... Read Morehorts) and they are very low rise. I tend only to wear them when I walk because I don't love the feeling of the waistband going into my lower abdomen when I sit down. If they were higher rise this would not be a problem (like other shorts). They do have a nice little pocket on the back that can fit a license and/or key. A good improvement would be a side pocket. The fabric is nice, however, they do ride up my inner thighs when walking- I was hoping they wouldn't do this because they do have a 6-inch inseam. I very much debated whether to return them, but they are still worth keeping.

My Favorite Shorts
These are truly the most comfortable light weight shorts I've ever had. The fit is perfect. I think they're going to be perfect for hiking and paddle boarding.
I was looking to replace some similar old Lucy shorts and these come as close as I have been able to find. Comfortable and long enough. They do sit a bit low on the waist but they stay in place. Im not a hi-rise short woman, but maybe they could sit a smidge higher. Maybe make a few more colors and I would buy again.

Great shorts for day hikes
I love these shorts for daily wear as well as day hikes. They are lightweight, breathable and incredibly comfortable. I wish they were made with front pockets, its the only thing I would change.
The shorts fit me perfectly, the material is a very nice lightweight but sturdy quality that seems to be forgiving of sweat and wet. The liner inside is comfortable and the back pocket is a nice addition with no discomfort. All good!!
I bought 2 pairs of these shorts for my daily 4 mile walks and I was not expecting them to have a liner since I didnt see it listed in the specs or the pictures on the website. Surprisingly low rise
The liner seems to not have enough height which pulls the whole short down on me. Perhaps just my body type. I even ordered one size larger than usual because I wanted them to be loose.

I hate buying shorts. I am 5 ft 11 in and about 165 pounds and bought a large. I have worn them every single day since I got them about two weeks ago. These are the best shorts ever. Super flattering for this non short convert!

New Favorite
Love the length of these shorts! Long enough to avoid the thigh rub and they fit great. Gave 4 stars because I really wish they had side pockets too. But just bought 2 more pairs.

I have 3 pairs of these shorts for a reason. They are comfy, super functional and durable. There is a small pocket in the back for earbuds or a key. Every once in awhile I wish there was an extra pocket in the front but not often enough to not buy another pair.
I have a pair of the shorter version and the older I get I really like the option for a 6 inseam. I still wear my shorties for sunning in the backyard but for walks and whatnot I will wear the 6. Great fabric and fit!
Comfortable material and nice length but awkward lining

I am not familiar with running shorts with liners (it's really just an inner brief)-- are you suppose to wear undergarments with it as well? If so, the liner/inner brief seems redundant. We would still recommend that you wear undergarments while using the shorts. If you used them without, then we would say they are not eligible for Worn Wear as with any "next to skin" gear. pretty good running shorts
Very comfy and lightweight. Waist band feels really comfortable. A big baggy in the hip area and they tend to ride up in the crotch for me.
The fit is a little funny for me, just because I have narrow hips. I love the material and it is great for running, personally I prefer the 4" but there is less of a color selection for that style. Works great for running.
I've been really impressed with the quality of these shorts during workouts - very light a breathable! I also appreciate the length for biking; less "riding up" than shorter length women's shorts.
I know the short inseam is the trend, but if you have athletic legs - then those short inseams don't work. I used these for my 16-mile run & was happy that I went with the 6" inseam. They were super comfy too.
Super cute and comfy running shorts. Not to long not too short
Running shorts that are super comfy and look good too. I wear a size 4 typically (115 lbs) and ordered a small and xs. The small looked sloppy. I was so happy with these shorts, I bought another pair! I run and sometimes go for short bike rides in them.
I wanted a soft, not-too-fitted pair of shorts for hiking on hot days. These are exactly that. The only thing I'd change is they're about 1 inch too long for my tastes.
These shorts are very comfortable. I normally do not like a liner in a pair of shorts, but these shorts have the most comfortable liner. The 6" length is perfect, it is not too long or too short for my 5'3" height. The waist band is also comfy. Recommend for casual wear, walking, running, hiking.
They are okay, but if you factor into the equation price and the fact that the built in lining is too small for the shorts (think of the feet of a llama relative) then the shorts become less than okay.

Great running shorts
Super comfortable (and soft) running shorts that are a great length (not too short). The back pocket is great for storing keys.

Love these shorts. Never ride up due to generously cut lining. Easy elastic waist with tie. Whereas so many shorts are intrusive screamers on the trail, I just don't notice these, except to appreciate their humble presence and hard work.

Inconsistent fit
I bought a pair of these in the spring and loved them so much that I ordered a second pair mid-summer. They are super lightweight and comfortable. My problem is that the first pair fit perfectly and the second pair does not - the liner bunches up and the waistband rolls over, the pant legs tend to flip/roll at the bottom. The perfect short
I had one pair of these- as a mom of 3 active boys I found these move perfectly, they feel ultra lightweight, and have nice colors. So I got 2 more. I can use them for almost anything.
I loved the old waist band on the nine trails shorts. However, this new waist band is terrible. It rolls down when you sit. The old flat style never did this. I am constantly adjusting. Why did you ruin a good thing?

Love the length, don't like the low rise
I like longer length shorts for physical activity. So I was excited to try this pair of shorts for casual wear and hiking. I loved the length. But I have a long torso and these ended up being too low rise for my comfort. I'm bummed because otherwise it seems great.

Great shorts for workouts and running
Really like these shorts, good length and fit and a really comfy waistband. They don't ride up when running which is a big plus for me! Sizing and design is spot on.
I use these for running on the roads and they're great, no need to only wear them trail running ;) I also plan to wear these for walks, they're really comfy and a great length.
These shorts are great for running. Fabric is silky and soft, and feels great on skin. Plus, it is stretchable, so it allows good range of motion. I took one star off, because the pocket is kind of small. I wish the pocket big enough to accommodate my cell phone. Overall, these are great shorts. I bought 2 pairs. Thanks!
Super lightweight and comfortable. I love the length of these shorts. I find a lot of Patagonia Shorts either too short or too long. These are just right. Flattering waistband that lays flat and doesnt curl. Would recommend them.

These shorts are very functional. They're not too short and not too long. The liner fits well and doesn't creep. The rear pocket is large enough to hold your keys and doesn't bounce during runs. I would buy them again.
The length and cut of the legs of these are great to prevent thigh chafing. I dont have to awkwardly pull bunched fabric from between my legs mid stride. I got two sizes to try out, a large and X-large. The large is true to size but I'm keeping the X-large for the relaxed looser fit. Taken both out on hiking trips and would recommend to anyone. The classic Navy and Camp green are also pretty accurate to the picture.
I find the shorter nine trails run very small and almost too short, and I am petite. I wear a 00/0 . These definitely run larger , but are almost too long. A true four inch length would be a great compromise!
Patagonia, please keep making running shorts in the longer length!! I haven't tested them out on a run yet (so not sure if I will face thigh chafe or not), but so far they are great for walking around and lounging. I agree with the fellow reviewers that it would be nice if there was a higher waisted option.
Lets just say i dont have a flat butt lol. But its also not huge! The waist is loose, but these ride up a bit in the rear so not the best fit. Gotta keep adjusting from time to time. I do like that they are a bit longer. Just wish the liner stayed put and there as a little more height in the rise/room in the rear.

Love these shorts, can't just have one!
Love these shorts. I was looking for a pair of shorts that a bit longer than 5" running shorts. I'm glad I was able to find these! I'm standing at 5'3", weighing 135lbs and size small is a perfect fit for me.
I have muscular thighs and almost every running short I try rides up during a run or long walk. I think that this longer length is less prone to riding up and they are my go-to for running shorts now. I will purchase another pair soon. I wish they were slightly higher waisted as these feel low rise and create a feeling that they will slide down my ... Read Morebelly even though they do not. As someone with pretty muscular thighs, it can be tricky to find running shorts that are long enough so that I can avoid inner thigh chaffing.

Finally - shorts that fit large athletic legs !
I always have issues with shorts.. booty shorts ride up, or are too tight. These are perfect! Size M was great for me and I usually wear M in other Patagonia clothing.
