Runs a bit small, but a L would be way too small. This is a nice light weight coat. One complaint is the interior pocket is too small for some cellphones. Would be nice to have an exterior breast zipper pocket as well.
Coat kept me warm for days in the 20s. Love the insulated hand warmer pockets. Cost is very comfortable, though I wish the hood hung off the neck a little more. Stylish - I love the plume grey look. Biggest flaw is the coats zipper - it gets jammed up frequently and does not feel like it will last as long and the rest of the jacket.
I like the silhouette of the man's version of this jacket so I got the XS. It fits perfectly with room for a bulky sweater. I spent 11 hours stuck in the snow (in my car) the other night, and I was warm and cozy! The only thing I wish is that I would have gotten the olive green.
Very warm - I was hoping for internal pockets as the older models had. And I liked the zipper on the left sleeve - great for keeping a hat. I think the small internal pocket is much better for holding a phone, keys, etc.
I have 2 of these jackets now and theyre my favorite go-to winter jacket. Warm, light, and looks great. I use them on cold powder days and cold days walking around nyc .
I receive compliments from people whenever I wear this jacket. It does the job as described. It is not a puffer jacket (which is completely fine with me). It has 2 zippers, but I wish it had zippers in the pockets. I would recommend this jacket.
Im 510 and the jacket fit perfectly. The hidden closed sleeve performs well during blizzard conditions while skiing. Insulated down keeps you warm with layers. Hood fits nice and the color was right.
This is an extremely well thought out design, and bears the Patagonia brand perfectly. The fit is true to size, just the right length to keep the warmth in but not so long as to interfere with winter activity. Pockets, drawstrings, zippers all well positioned and highly functional.
The materials feel extremely high quality as expected, and the jacket is both cozy and warm but also technical and weather repellant. Comfy around the house but also out on a frigid rainy walk. What can I say beyond, I love this jacket? It's extremely warm, the exterior material is durable and holds up in weather, and it's kept me warm with just a base layer in temps down to 15 degrees (and could probably perform even colder). Love this Jacket. The material is high quality, the elastic cuffs are perfect. The double zipper is a nice added detail. The arms are a touch tight if I am wearing a thick sweatshirt, but I also have thick arms, so there is that!
Still unrivalled customer service, and the item is perfect! A*
Still unrivalled customer service, and the item is perfect! It's comfortable, the attention to detail is superior, and the quality is great. Medium comes in at a good size for 5ft 9, not oversized, but not tight.
Zipper was stuck second time I wore it. For hours, I could not unzip the jacket fully. This has not happened since but I am on the fence about returning it. The jacket might be defective. Not the best experience.

In all these areas the design of the jacket has fallen completely short.
1. Flexibility: the cut of the jacket is awkward. It runs small leading to the awkward scenario where I was caught between large (tad too small) and XL (too big), with large being my normal sizing. The reason large felt too small is not primarily because of the body of the jacket but because of the cut of the arms seem to be catered to a mannequin and not a moving, active human being. Because of the restrictive cut which does not accommodate for arm mobility, I cannot raise my hands above my shoulders without the sleeves tugging back and revealing half my forearms. When I wear the jacket biking, reaching forward to grasp the handlebars causes the sleeves to pull back and reveal my forearms to the wind.
2. Warmth: This jacket is not nearly as warm as advertised based on the temperatures it is said to be suitable for. The baffles could be filled with far more down than they contain, and I find myself feeling the sting of cold especially on the back of my neck on a windy day. One concession I might give is that I wear my clothing slightly baggy, while Patagonia designed the jacket to hug the body, increasing insulation, but I don't see how that could make the jacket far warmer than my current sizing.
3. Durability: As opposed to the common thin, shiny material of most down jackets, the matte durable water repellant finish of this jacket looks good. It is only repellant, no more, and the durability is questionable. Mine tore at the cuff from the constant friction of daily activities after a couple months of use.
4. Comfort: Besides the motion restrictions, and when you are in temperatures the jacket can withstand, it is very comfortable to wear. I especially like the elastic cuffs within the sleeves. However, the collar is very uncomfortable. It is at an awkward length that I cannot decide whether to rest my chin on top, or behind the rigid material. Primarily, I have found that it digs into the underside of my chin and presses uncomfortably against my Adam's apple when I am not wearing the hood. To avoid this I never zip up the collar fully, which is a waste.
All in all this is not a terrible jacket. It has an elegant, unique look and if that is your priority this jacket is for you. If you care about functionality, look elsewhere. Part of why I took the time to write this review is because I hope that Patagonia's designers will fix this jacket. I wanted to like it so badly. Definitely overpriced for what it delivers.
Thank you for taking the time to write such thorough feedback. We'll forward your observations to our design team.

It looks nice but
Didn’t like the way I received the jacket, a box would have been better for the price I paid, it was so compact wrapped on a plastic bag that I thought it was a raining jacket so thin it was, it’s not warm enough for cold winter days and the back of the jacket feels like it doesn’t have as much feathers as in the front, but the cut looks nice.
Perfect for sub 20 degrees Fahrenheit work outdoors at low to moderate tempo or great to have as a warmth recovery outer layer after an extended period in the cold. Nice jacket, warm. the zip pulls are too small for gloved hands - inside chest pocket does not have one, just a tab. The chest pocket is a bit small. The sizing seems small. I am 6' 195 and the XL does not leave much room for layering and the sleeves are non too long for me.

This jacket is warm, but the collar is very uncomfortable. The zipper needs to stay down about a third so that the collar doesn't irritate your neck. I can't see wearing this because of that. I don't think the collar was designed right. The arm and body fit was right for me.

This is my first time in touch with this brand since I was looking for a down jacket for around 0 degrees or a bit sub-zero for oversea trip. I very much like it's idea of recycled materials and basic design, and also design details like elastic fabric inside the cuffs, seam seals, etc.

However,I eventually bought a jacket from another brand due to the collar design issue that someone already pointed out here. I understand that it's designed for covering the chin with the hood on,but it's really uncomfortable to zip up fully when the hood is off. I prefer "normal" design that a down-filled collar embraces my neck when zipper is up,coz it's not warm enough by half-zipped and wearing a scarf in cold days, but it's usually not so cold & windy that I have to put the hood up.
