What is PSD2 and what does it mean for my online payments?
PSD2 is a new European payment service directive created to give people more protection against electronic payment fraud.
From September 2019, online card payments will require an extra authentication step at checkout. For example, you may need to enter a one-time code sent to your phone or tablet.
The Patagonia team is working hard to prepare our website for PSD2. However, you may have problems with some card payments. This is because banks control some of the steps in the new process and it is possible that they are not fully prepared to comply with this requirement.
If this is the case, we recommend trying an alternative payment method, such as PayPal or a bank transfer. And, as always, the Patagonia Customer Service team is happy to help if you have any issues while checking out.
Bank Transfer Orders
Bank transfer payments can take between 3-5 working days to reach our account. If you have included your unique payment reference - received in your EU confirmation email once your order has been placed – with your transfer, the funds will be linked to your order as soon as the payment is received. Your order will then be sent to our warehouse for packaging and regular processing and shipping times will apply.
Where the reference has not been included, we will be unable to process your payment and it will be automatically returned to your bank account. Should you encounter this issue, please reach out to our Customer Service team for assistance.
Out-of-Stock Items / Cancelled Orders
Credit cards will only be debited when the goods are dispatched from our warehouse. In the event of an out-of-stock item, you will only be debited for the goods which have been shipped to you.
For order cancellations, depending on the status of your order, you may or may not be charged for the items. If no charge is made, the pending authorisation from your bank will drop away automatically. If a charge is made, the total amount will be refunded to you within 1-2 business days. The total amount should clear in your account within the following 3-10 business days depending on your bank. The product prices displayed on our website are inclusive of Value-Added Tax (VAT) except where local laws provide otherwise. Please note that the VAT rate is determined by the country to where you are shipping the item(s).
This website is available for B2C business only. We are unable to modify the VAT rate for B2B customers. All prices are exclusive of transport charges which will be added to the total amount due.
