Why do you work for Patagonia?
Patagonia is a mission driven business and we all take this position very seriously. Patagonia's purpose drives strategic, and daily, decision making. I feel I can have tangible impact on issues that matter to me.
Working for Patagonia provides me with the opportunity to play a significant part in running a responsible business. And, more importantly, it opens the door for influencing the business community in creating awareness on how to run a business for good.
Which Patagonia environmental initiative is closest to your heart?
Difficult question… If I had to pick just one it would be the Save the Blue Heart of Europe campaign. It is a great example of grassroots activism and the impact it can have. Albanian politicians have given their support to the establishment of a Vjosa National Park which would protect this unique river system forever. This has been made possible by the efforts of activists and local communities.
What do you like doing outside of work?
Spending my time outdoors as much as possible. It helps me stay connected to what matters to me and energises me.
What has been your biggest adventure?
I was lucky enough to join Patagonia’s Tools for Grassroots Activists programme - a week of workshops with around 100 representatives of the NGOs we support across Europe. The event took place in the beautiful Una National Park in Bosnia & Herzegovina. We all camped together. A very important part of the whole experience was the fairly basic set up. It broke down boundaries and created beautiful cameraderie among participants. The experiences shared, and lessons we learnt, I will never forget.
