I love this product. I have several in different colors. It is lightweight, not bulky, and surprisingly warm. I wear a Capilene or Capilene Cool Marino under it. It is fairly snug on my 106 lb, 5'3" body, but there is room for a lightweight layer under it. Size up if you want more room.
These are fantastic pullovers. I have two of them. They are so soft and so warm yet you don’t overheat in them since they vent so well. I love them so much! A versatile pull over I generally wear with a cool marino base layer for chilly days. I have three of them, so I love them. I am 5'3", 107 lbs, and the XS is snug but nice, without restriction.
The seams down the arms of my old R1 fleece are soft and flat. These seams are folded inward so they form a scratchy ridge all the way down the arm. I can't wear this over a sleeveless or short sleeve shirt, which is what I wanted it for.
Please make a tech fleece that doesn't have these scratchy seams!!

Tight around my chest and very small internal pocket
I usually wear size S for Patagonia but probably because this fabric doesnt stretch much and its slim fit, I felt tight around my chest and under arms. Was just talking with a friend how we agree this is the most perfect, durable, warm cozy fleece. Love the pattern too - does its job so well and dries quick when I get it wet from paddling. I am normally a medium but sized down for more form fit.

Warm and Cozy
I was curious about how this layer would compare to my tried and true R1 pullover. I took it on a snow backpacking trip this weekend and I have some thoughts. First, I do think it is warmer than my original R1. It wicks moisture well and is nice and breathable. I feel like it fits just a bit more snugly though. I have a S in the original R1 and bou... Read Moreght the same size in this and I kinda wish I had tried a M.
Unfortunately I do have a dealbreaker with this layer and it is the pocket, or rather, the accessibility of the pocket. I love that the pocket is big enough for my phone (though only barely) but I hate that it's a hidden pocket because you have to unzip the whole neck in order to access the darn pocket which was cold and very annoying! The men's version has a sensible outside access pocket, that is what I want too. I would not buy another women's version of this because a useable chest pocket is something I rate very highly in my outdoor wear.
Thanks for the feedback, Laura. This fleece does have a slim fit, so depending on your prior R1, we could see why it feels a bit more snug. While the zip-neck version of this fleece does have an internal chest pocket, the [Women's R1 Air Full-Zip Hoody](https://www.patagonia.com/product/womens-r1-air-full-zip-fleece-hoody/40260.html?dwvar_40260_color=BLK) has an external one so we recommend checking it out.

Sehr bequem
Und eine gute Qualität! Kann ich nur empfehlen. Größe stimmt.
I wanted a mid-weight outer layer for running or working out outdoors when temps are in low to mid 30s. Over a lighter weight wicking base layer, this does the trick beautifully.
I absolutely LOVE this fleece. Ittoasty warm yet has temperature regulation! Its my new favorite hiking fleece, and I love the new color. Well done, Patagonia

This fleece pullover is very warm, light ,and soft. I like the material and color. It is very good quality , I can wear it as layer or wear it under a vest if I want to go for a walk , so comfortable ,and I am very happy with it.
I own 3 of the original R1s and this R1 air is warmer, more wind resistant and more comfortable, I could not believe it. The R1 air is also a lot better looking for casual wear. Definitely a keeper.
I like everything about this top - soft, warm and not scratchy. I also love that it is made from 100% recycled fibers. It is fairly breathable when I wear it on brisk walks. Just wish this black/dark grey color were less blah but a vest on top helps brighten it up.
I love this fleece. It is super light weight and very warm. Personally, I would have loved the thumb-holes, but then again my first layer has that so didn't really miss it. There's a handy pocket near the chest of which the zipper is inside. It is not big enough for a phone but great for keys or a card.

Hello Christine! Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We're really sorry to hear the fleece has started to pill. Due to the knit appearance of the face fabric of this particular item, this pilling can be more noticeable To prevent pilling, we recommend washing that item either by hand in cool to cold water, or separately in your washing machine on the gentle cycle. It's best to lay it flat to dry rather than place it in the dryer where the fabric can easily get abraded. To remove pilling that has already occurred, a sweater shaver or sweater stone is an excellent tool and can help the garment look brand new again. My favorite thing
I have basically not taken this off since I got it. It is so light, so warm, and so cute! I am always an M in Patagonia, but I chose to go up to an L in this. The M fit like a shirt, and I wanted a jacket fit.

Great top, but the large is better than the medium on me. I like them roomier and longer, and I like the longer large. I gave my mediums away. Nice new wool white color. 5'7" 140 lbs. The R1 Fleece pullover is a better length.
I live in 1/4 zip shirts especially during cooler months. Nice weight and silhouette. Have not washed it, yet. But have not had an issue with Patagonia garments if washed on cold, into the dryer for a brief time to get the wrinkles out and hang to dry while still damp.
Sizing is way off. Runs small. Arms long. Returning it.
This is one of the few misses I've had with Patagonia. Sizing was too tight in body and sleeves were several inches too long. I should have read the reviews as this is common complaint. Thankfully the return support was good!

Love this top!
I love my R1 air zip neck fleece. It is lightweight and breathable and not too warm to wear indoors during the cooler months yet still provides lots of warmth when layering for winter adventures. Ive received many complements on the light currant blue color. The top is slim fit and has nice long sleeves which fits my body very well.
I really like this newer airy, yet warm, techy fleece. Easy to wear on its own but thin enough to layer with if needed. It is very warm for its weight. Saved my bacon on a colder than expected surf trip in NorCal. Love it!
