Super happy with the vest. It's warm, super high quality and feels true to size, perhaps slightly larger in size compared to the jacket. The high collar is a great feature. Looking forward to wearing it more!
Fits well and is warm. Surprised that a medium fits better than a large. Like the two inside pockets and the storage pocket on the inside. Enough room to wear a thin fleece jacket underneath.

Between medium and large. Run a tad big in the large but I think the medium might be too small. Altogether a solid garment!
The zipper failed on my 13-year-old version of this vest. It had been perfect as an intermediate, handsome layer. I'm beyond pleased to have received the current version -at no replacement charge.

This was my first Patagonia purchase and I would say after a year of solid use it's held up. I love the down, neck collar, and versatility. I am happy to say I have stop by a store and checked out more Patagonia.
Overall a very nice vest to keep you warm. There are some thing I would like to change buts thats al about the detail I prefer. I would put the handpockets a little higher en make them a bit deeper. The draft Bavel on the inside of the main zipper is not nessesarry in my opinion. But again without these personal preferences it still a great vest.

I have three of these, and was disappointed to see that in the most recent update the neck was downgraded from 3 panels to 2. The 3 panel design set the Patagonia vests apart from other similar vests, and made them more comfortable. With only two panels, it is less flexible than before, and therefore less comfortable.

I spoke to someone in the store and he agreed that they look more wrinkled because they aren't as full as before. I don't want a puffy vest, just one that looked like it wasn't all-the-way filled, like these do. I hope Patagonia reverts these changes in the future, since these were key to my decision to purchase. It's not good when the quality goes down but the price goes up, as it has here!

Warm. Well made. Wears comfortably. I wear it until get gets real cold. I live in the Rocky my d. This is. Durable vest that I wear all the time. My first one lasted for many years. Im due this one will as well
I'm a woman who needs to wear a mens size M. It works well for my wide shoulders and narrow hips as well as my tall figure.

A nice muted red, lots of pockets which my husband loves. He really likes that the collar is high as he feels he won’t need a scarf. He tried it on and says he felt warm immediately. I had expected it to be slightly thicker but that’s a personal choice

Excellent sweater but my problem
Excellent sweater but my problem is that the sizes and fitting is obviously for the younger generation I am 75 with a slight middle age spread So tight round the stomach and the larger size is loose round the shoulders I buy a lot of Patagonia products and always have difficulty deciding on large or medium
Patagonia fleece in medium are fit S (small) and large fit really fit for XL.
Their fabric version is the same but has quality control problems - some mediums are bigger than other mediums

Fits perfectly, is very light, and warm
This is my second vest. Ive lost almost 40 lbs and needed a smaller size. Love its comfort and warmth.
Like everything about the vest but the collar is way to high which ruins it.
Bought online from Patagonia in med and was very excited about it. I have a lot of Patagonia product and was happy until this vest.
Took it back to the store in Boulder and wanted to exchange it for something else. But that would have cost me $60 ish to downgrade to a ... Read Morebetter fitting nano puff.
So end of the day I am disappointed, I find odd Patagonia utilized this collar as its over your ears when you sit, and just plain looks odd when you are standing.

Its windproof so I enjoy
Its windproof so I enjoy it outdoors. Very comfortable, zippered pockets so my keys are safe. All round great best.
I normally wear a size Large. I'm 6'0", 190lb but ordered an X-Large because it was on sale and the Large was out of stock. It is definitely roomy as a result but not overly big. That is on me and not Patagonia. The product is well made and warm. I am happy with the purchase.
I love this vest! I wear the Nano on cool days but needed something for this frigid winter snap. This vest is really warm and comfy and I love the texture of the material. Color is great too!
This is one of the best and most appreciated winter warmth layers I own. It is my third one. This is the one I wear to photograph clients in. It's warm and clean and new. Not only is the Down Sweater Vest of high quality and is very warm, the material is sustainable. Patagonia stands head and shoulders above their competition (if that exists).
The vest is very nicely constructed and looks good. It is a little tight in the middle to lower part of the vest - more so than L sized tops. I am a male, 225 lbs, 6 foot, so not too small in the middle, however. Does fit though. It is very warm and probably more appropriate for cooler outside wear than wearing inside.

So disappointed. When zipped up, the vest is too tight at the bottom and at the top, so it protrudes in the belly and upper back. I'm 5'7 and 145 pounds. Recently tried the nano puff in a medium and it was way too small for even a plain long sleeve tee. This vest in a large is perfect in a flannel/long sleeve. I am 5.11 and 160 lbs. Great as always Patagonia!
I liked everything about this vest except the collar. The collar is stiff and stands straight up to my chin at all times. I don't need that feature on a vest. When I want something tight around my neck and up to my chin I add a neck gaiter.
I ordered my partners usual medium from Patagonia & it was unusually tight. Returned it for a large and that was huge.
Just seemed like a big difference between both sizes & inconsistent with a large wardrobe of medium sized Patagonia items

Very Versatile
The Down Sweater Vest is a necessary go-to for all occasions. It can be worn for warm weather with less layers or layered up for the cold. It is great for a casual walk or more extreme elements. It is classy and can be worn at work and be dressed up or down. It is so soft and comfortable.
The sizing chart on the website via other reviews was perfect. I would have gotten the XL, but glad I went with the recommendations! Super comfy, warmer than expected, and light as hell. Love it!
Amazing fit , so warm and comfortable, had a problem with the zip fastener came off was sent back and new zip fitted and returned within a week , service was amazing 5 stars so much better than other gilets Ive owned

2000 to 2022
I owned the 2000 model of this vest, which I loved, and recently replaced for free with the Patagonia Ironclad Guarantee with its 2022 model due to zipper failure. Noticeable changes include its fit due to how it is sewn - I prefer the older model, which is more form fitting, the newer one has a higher neck, which is good because it provides more c... Read Moreoverage, but when fully zipped its neck no longer sits flush and sticks out, so it looks odd. I really like and appreciate the addition internal pockets on the newer model, which has three in total compared to only one from the older model. This vest has maintained true down that is not synthetic, so it will keep you warmer. Overall this vest is a perfect piece of gear to layer with for added warmth that wont compromise mobility since its sleeveless. Highly recommended.
I really enjoy wearing this vest. It is very light weight but it keeps me really warm in temperatures from 48 up. This is the first vest I have ever had and I am really glad I purchased it.
This vest is warm ,durable , true to size, and packs into its pocket well. It also washes well and looks new again when I have the occasion to clean.
Cannot go wrong if you need a vest for the long haul!
Had to return. Too Small - AND - very, VERY disappointed in the loft - dead air space - especially for the price. Wanted to warm on 30 degree day hiking but got warming on 50 degree day going to Starbucks. Replacing a 40 year old North Face.

New Daily Wearer
Since getting this vest I have worn it virtually every day. Although being in the UK our winter hasn't really got started yet and doesn't get too cold this is great when I pair it with my R1 Air hoody or the R1 Daily Jacket. I haven't even found myself getting too hot with it on indoors in less the heating is really high and regulate... Read Mores your temperature really well, so I don't have to worry about constantly taking it on and off. I did originally purchase the nano puff but it felt and looked too thin for my needs. It does however bunch around the torso but that's only when sat down and don't know another jacket that hasn't done the same, and if you have tightened a bit around the waist a little pull down keeps it in place. I look Forward to testing it further when skiing this winter.

I had always wanted a vest, so I finally pulled the trigger and purchased one. Following my purchase and the high satisfaction I've received since my purchase, I went online to see other colors. Upon searching for this vest, I was so disappointed with the reviews. Everyone is subject to their own opinions, so I'd like to share mine.
The collar isn't too tall. Yes, it appears to be taller than previous seasonal drops, but it's perfect. When zipped up, it helps keep your neck nice and warm. You can even tuck your chin down in which is so nice. I haven't seen the red in person, so I don't have a strong opinion on it, but I think the slightly darker tone of red Patagonia decided to use for this year's vest is brilliant. It's not overbearing, and without a doubt, it's in style. This vest, matched with a cozy quarter-zip, will turn heads at the ski lodge, a lovely evening dinner with your special someone, or even your business meetings.
If I were to summarize my review, I would say this. This vest is warm, in style, and timeless. You can wear this for years, and people will wonder where to pick one up, just like yours.

Best fitting vest from Patagonia so far!
I am not sure why some people have an issue with this vest, I think its awesome! I used to have a down sweater vest a couple years ago and this new model fits much better. The previous one was a little too loose fitting and this one hugs my body better. It keeps my core very warm and its super light. Excellent!

Best Gillet from Patagonia

This vest is thinner than my prior. I'll have to wait for colder weather (I live in Maine) to see how much warmth it provides. The quality is fine. One item which is needed but lacking is the coat hook that most coats and vests have near the label to allow it to be easily hung. Not having it is a BIG nuisance. First, I am the ultimate; and a loyal Patagonia customer for over 40 years. So my criticism of recent update to the classic down sweater vest sis honest and strictly constructive. Aesthetically, the slanted seams of the new collar design is unsightly and does not allow the vest when open to look cool. When unzipped, each collar falls flat along said seam and the resulting look is just awful. Lastly, Wax Red is not red, its burgundy. Sorry.

Missing the Down Sweaters of Old
Recently had to replace my old down sweater jacket and vest as the down had totally lost all loft after 8+ years of hard wear and multiple beatings in the dryer with tennis balls. This vest is definitely puffier than the old style - wider baffles makes it feel more like youre wrapped in a sleeping bag. This is great for cozy warmth but it does make... Read More it tougher to layer under a blazer or work coat - less of a problem under a shell. The collar is taller than the old style, a feature I liked for warmth and eliminating the need for a scarf. The main zipper seems more great and doesn't catch when zipping up fast but the side zippers on the pockets do tend to annoyingly catch the fabric. All in all, a great piece in the fall wardrobe but not quite as awesome as the old models that were thinner and more stowable.
