Great product except for length....
I love the quality of Patagonia products and have bought many tops for casual wear and hiking. However given my height 5'1" I always spend too much money shortening the length. It would be great if the sizes were offered for petite sizes... I know I'm not alone in this request.
Love this! Great, breathable, and warm!
Ive been pairing this with the Women's R1 Air Full-Zip Hoody in 35-40F weather with wind in PA for hikes and it's been a winner! I love that there is room for movement and it's just enough on the body enough to not feel constricted but close enough to be on your skin and feel warm. When the weather gets colder (below freezing like 0-10F), I've paired this with my macropuff and I am plenty happy! I love how breathable this is while keeping in your heat when moving.
Nice fit with multiple layers
I like the way the baselayer lays against my body, especially when there are multiple layers. It moves with me, and with the multiple on/off movements, it still holds its shape and doesn't start to bulge/stretch out. I don't have to bulk up as much with this baselayer to stay warm, and I appreciate that a lot as I have more movement outsi... Read Morede.

Hi Alyssa, thank you for submitting this review, and we hope your Capilene Midweight Crew top will serve you well in the outdoors too! Perfect layer for every activity
I just purchased my second set of the capilene base layers. They are perfect for any activity - I wear them as a ski base layer, when I go backpacking, on my outdoor runs when its chilly...even under a vest as I run around and do errands. Buy these! I got this top for running in and wearing under sweaters-it is ideal for both. I loved my lightweight cap. base layer which you no long make. So I ordered the midweight cap base layer thinking it would be bit warmer but would still fit well. Used this on a week long trek in the Dolomiti where it was 50-65deg Fahrenheit, rainy at times, in crowded huts and it held up well. Warm and comfortable
I use this top for snow sports, its warm and comfortable and the material is thick enough that I can strip down to this base layer when over heated. The reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that for me it is not a no-stink top. I have to wash it every time I use it and throw in some oxy to get the smell of my perspiration out of the arm pits.
Perfect, fits as if tailored just for me, comfortable, stylish.
I purchased this to wear as a jammie top and it is comfy as can be. I could use it as outerwear, as I have used other capiline tops, but this purchase was specifically for just around the house. Not soft or warm
I keep trying to replace my original Patagonia Capilene (mid 80s), but nothing I buy new is even close. When its truly cold, thats the only thing I can wear. thinner than I expected, bigger than expected

Hi Julie, thanks for taking the time to write a product review and we're very sorry to hear about your experience with the Capilene Midweight Crew Neck Shirt. We resonate with your frustration and please know we take this feedback seriously. We have no doubts that people of all shapes and sizes get outdoors and can benefit from our clothing. Over the past several years, we've begun to expand our sizes and it is our goal to continue this to make our clothing more accessible. For context, our items come in three different fits - slim, regular, and relaxed. The Capilene Midweight Crew Neck shirt is intended to be a baselayer, which means it is meant to fit next to skin or with a close fit to the body for insulating reasons. It is also a slim fit item so you may be better off going for a different product if you're not a fan of this cut. You could consider checking out the [Long-Sleeved Capilene Cool Trail Shirt](https://www.patagonia.com/product/womens-long-sleeved-capilene-cool-trail-shirt/24491.html?dwvar_24491_color=CNY&cgid=root) which is relaxed fit. Of course if you aren't satisfied, you are always welcome to return this. We hope to not disappoint you in the future.
so very pretty and comfortable
I am a picky shirt buyer, and usually buy wool but decided to give this shirt a go. WOW, is it warm! I mean, for the lightweight feel of it it is soft and warm. Neckline is just right. And the color is beautiful - between dark blue and purple. The permanent anti-stinky treatment closed the deal. Go for it!!
Fit Issues for Me
I am 5'5", 150 lb, in my seventies. I first ordered XL as that usually gives me the comfortably loose fit I want. But XL hung on me like a sack, so I exchanged for L. Sadly, L is form-fitting on me, not the look I'm after these days. Epic fail. I love the fabric and the colors, but the fit simply doesn't work for me.

Perfect for backcountry skiing
This was the ideal layer for skiing uphill in warm temps (~30-40s). Thank you Patagonia for saving me!! Truly, I think you saved me from getting dangerously close to hypothermia. Lightweight but cozy
I love this top alone for a chilly run or a fall hike. Its also a great base layer for winter hiking. The shirt is lightweight, but traps heat well. The navy color is also very vibrant and pretty.
