Protect the ocean so it can protect us
Our future is tied to the ocean. Its shared seas connect us through food, culture and sport. The home of amazing, abundant life, it’s also a powerful climate solution. Yet the practice of bottom trawling threatens to destroy this precious resource—bulldozing our ocean floor, undermining small-scale fisheries and deepening the climate crisis. Let's end this destructive practice, starting with an immediate ban in marine protected areas and inshore zones.

OK. I must first confess that I am NOT a rock climber, so I have not tested this bib for its intended use. But I have worn this for fishing, hiking, and even just washing my dock, and it is super comfortable, even in warm weather conditions. After initially being a bit confused about how to put it on, I barely felt its presence when I was doing my ... Read Moretasks. It is lightweight, breathable, and waterproof enough for my needs. It allows for a full range of motions, and it doesn't make me look like a balloon with it on like some other bibs I own! Highly recommended.
i have a pair of galvanized pants. they are cut better and have a softer, stretchier fabric that was also H2NO and waterproof. I really need a zip cuff for being able to use these hardshells for both ski and climb. I understand that the dual aspect is a new fabric that has less need for stretch and articulated cut. unfortunately, the bib part of th... Read Moree pant is not adjustable and too short for me. I tried a size small - way too short. and medium - still too short and narrow. I would need a size large bib and size small pant. the bib doesn't adjust and doesn't make sense with this style of pant. i don't get it. such a miss...
Purchased these pants for ice & mix climbing. First impressions out of the bag were great! The weight of the pant material is not too heavy or cumbersome. Features of the pants are classic and solid for alpine/winter conditions. Length and fit seems true to size overall.
The bib feature/crotch gusset is where my only personal issues arise. It ... Read Moreis difficult to put this bib on compared to traditional and side access systems because of the fixed nature of the bib to the pant.
I am 5'9 with broad shoulders around 165lbs with a moderate muscular build and ordered a medium. One model appeared to have a similar shape to me so I went for it. After some use and movement in the bibs the crotch is noticeably short compared to other Patagonia pants/bibs I have tried. It causes some discomfort and the gusset seems to push "things" to one side or the other.
As someone who might need to add or remove layers quickly (top or bottoms) - the fixed bib fabric does not stretch well for easy pull on or off (step through, pull over, Ive tried it all). If you have some build to your upper body it might cause the bib feature to pull the pants up and "ride up" during activity furthering the gusset region issue. Again this may just be a personal problem but I figure it is worth mentioning.
Overall, I'm psyched to climb in these pants. Love the recycled material initiative and general ethics behind the balance of pushing textiles abilities while maintaining an environmental responsibility.
Positives:
Light weight
Awesome movement for hard shell
Negatives:
Cant adjust the bibs. Trying to stretch them so they arent so snug in the crotch
Fly zipper is so ugly! Should have a flap
Still cant believe they dont adjust at the bib level
Only one pocket
Needs better vent system
Over all a great concept, just needs a little refinement.
Thank you for sharing your feedback on these bibs, Ryan. We're sorry those features were a miss for you! If you should decide they're a deal-breaker, you know you're welcome to [return](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) the bibs. Vent Zippers
You need vent zippers on the inside thighs. Im kind of shocked you dont include them.
63 175lbs. Mediums fit well around, but were much too short. Larges feel a bit too large around, and are still a still a tad short. Would loved for the bib to be adjustable.
Finding lightweight, well fitting pants for snow/ice climbing and skiing is tricky, but Patagonia absolutely nailed it with the Dual Aspects. I was a really big fan of the Galvanized pants, and was very bummed to see them not be renewed for this season, but the Dual Aspects are an excellent, and more environmentally sustainable replacement. These a... Read Morere bar none, the best fitting pants for ice/alpine climbing I have found: no extraneous baggy material to snag on crampons (no more rubber bands around my calves and ankles!), light, breathable and protective. The bibs work very well in keeping everything in place as well, and there are zippers exactly where you want them. Though they lack some of the stretch that the galvanized pants had, I didn't miss it at all thanks the perfect fit (for me). I would not hesitate to recommend these for anyone looking for a light and fast hardshell pant!
Fitting notes: I am 5'11'' and around 155 lbs.
These are very protective, yet light and minimal. With enough options for modification. The mesh bibs are comfortable. However, the zippers are finicky especially when snow and ice is building up on the outside. The fly zipper broke second time I used it. Major bummer. What modern piece of clothing/gear doesnt have a weak zipper though?
