Very nice jacket
This is a great jacket. There are many things to like about it. It is warm of course. The front pockets are large and will accommodate your hands with gloves or mittens on them. It has a detachable hood. The zipper has the necessary storm flaps with snaps. Unlike a lot of jackets, the inside zippered pocket is large enough for today's large sm... Read Moreart phones. The sleeves don't have knit cuffs, which is something that I like, but they do have elastic in them to keep the wind out. Yes! The zipper is a two way zipper, which is another excellent feature. The waist does not have elastic, which I like, but it does have an inside drawstring to make up for that. Yes! The zipper goes all the way down to the bottom of the jacket, which is oh so wonderful. I have some jackets where the coat or jacket extends a few inches below the end of the zipper. This can really make it hard to start the zipper because those pieces of fabric get in the way. I really bought this jacket because of the collar. There is nothing worse than a jacket where cold wind can blow down the "throat" of the jacket. The zipper and storm flaps go up your neck right to the bottom of your chin. That feature is excellent and is what I look for. The storm flaps keep the zipper from digging into the skin. Carhartt jackets never have this feature and their metal zipper and no storm flaps just let the cold wind down the front of their jackets. The only item that might need improvement in this Patagonia jacket is the size of the collar. It could be larger. It needs to be able to accommodate a turtle neck or a shirt with a collar, like a denim work shirt that I often wear. I don't think that a lot of people will be wearing this jacket over just a collarless t-shirt. When I buy a dress shirt, that collar sits right against my neck. That is not true of how I will use this jacket. I will be having a shirt with a collar under the collar of this jacket. This a fabulous jacket from a guy who really knows jackets. Did I ramble on?
Nice and warm, but needs a repair after less than a week
The jacket looks awesome and its super warm, but after less than a week of owning it one of the adjustable cords for the waist broke. So Im thinking Ill send it back for a repair, which apparently takes upwards of 12 weeks to get the jacket back to me, which is a major inconvenience and shouldnt be needed after less than a week of owning the thin... Comfortably warm but neck too tight
Ordered this in Gold, and the color is gorgeous. Fits great and is quite warm as well. Reason why I returned it: when zipped all the way up, it sits uncomfortably tight around the neck. I wear an S, and my collared shirts are 14.5. I recognize it is to keep the neck warm, but this jacket would have been perfect if it were adjustable instead.

Missing insulation in half of the Jacket
Love Patagonia, and have been using their products for years. However, I purchased their Down Drift jacket for the winter and was not pleased with the insulation. The entire right side of the jacket was missing the down material.

Hello Rayan, thank you for the review. We're so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with this jacket. We've emailed you to gather some information and offer you a warranty evaluation. If you washed the jacket and the down did not redistribute evenly, it's usually a pretty easy fix. You'll want to close all zippers, snaps and velcro. Machine wash it in cool water with a mild detergent (no bleach, no fabric softener, preferably powder) and then tumble dry on low heat (no fabric softener) with a couple of clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This will fluff and redistribute the down, and help to refresh and tighten up the fabric around the down. Comfortable and warm
I like how it feels. It fits perfectly for me. It is warm and soft. I like the feature of unzipping the hood, because on most days I don't need the hood. At first I wasn't sure about the pocket that is somewhat hidden, however I really like it now. It is a great place to put stuff I don't want to lose.
Really Nice Jacket
This is possibly one of the best jackets I've owned. It's windproof, slightly water-resistant (for a light drizzle), and very warm in cold weather. Awesome. However, the one drawback is that the cuffs are not adjustable, so if you plan on not using gloves with this jacket, the open-ish cuffs can let in some cold air. This leaves your arms... Buttons, zippers, pockets
Great hood, but difficult to snap buttons for either neck/mouth protection or when hood is not needed, to get secured without removing hood. Really good, big, warm hood. Could be great with a few small improvements
I really wanted to like this jacket but there were a few things that made me return it. First, the partial elastic cuff edges were sharp and cut into my wrists. Nice warm bomber jacket, but short in arms

Unfortunately this down jacket has not been at all as I hoped it would look and work like. The jacket ( I usually wear size S) is wide and short and stuff sticks to it. The hood/ collar is also not comfortable and doesn't look nice in my opinion. For this much money I would have expected a way better design. But thank you anyways.

This jacket is perfect for that.

You have to love the sustainable, environmentally responsible way this cost is made. For my situation, this really works.
Best winter coat ever!
I've bought many winter coats in my life. Never felt warm during the Chicago winters. After quite a bit of research of different brands and finding local stores to actually try them on, I found THE coat. I just went through a few days of frigid weather and I never felt it. Very happy with this jacket. Well-constructed and good fit (Medium - I am 6’2” and 73kg). Decent amount of down, have worn it when temp around zero and still comfortable; nice hood design/flaps. Suits wandering around a farm (where I currently live) and also in the city. I would recommend.

Simply the best
This is a beautiful, high quality jacket that is incredibly warm. Almost an excess of down it feels like a big hug every time you put it on. I just got this jacket to replace a super wArm down jacket that had a fatal flaw - the zipper sucked. Im happy to say that Ive found no flaws to this racket and the construction is extremely high quality. I use this all winter long in freezing to sub-zero weather in the Midwest. The outer shell does a great job blocking wind and the down keeps me t... Read Moreoasty no matter what.
Favorite winter jacket
As a trans person its hard to find clothes that both fit me and serve the purpose im buying them for but this jacket does both! All the pocket combinations make it easy to keep my hands warm and store things while on the move, without feeling like its weighing down the jacket. My only note is that i wish there was an extra snap on the detachable ho... Read Moreod collar so i can snap it closet to the zipper so the flaps dont flap around. Right now theres one snap in the middle of the flap which i snap all the time, but one more closer to the feint would be awesome. Anyways, if youre still reading this review im impressed and appreciate you caring what your customers think:)
Ticks all boxes
I splurged on this jacket and am very satisfied - worth every penny. I wanted a shell fabric more durable than puffer style jackets and got it. Very warm and windproof, this jacket allows me to commute further than I normally would in an electric car because I keep the heat off and the coat does the rest. Thanks for a great design.
Best purchase I made
I like this jacket because of its versatility, and I'm not one to complain about the cold. But after having a dog and going for morning walks in 10-degree temps in the woods, it's nice not to have to bundle up. Before, I would throw on a sweatshirt, hoodie, and shell jacket. But with this jacket, I can wear just a t-shirt and be fine. I w... Read Moreouldn't wear the jacket snowboarding, but if you are out in the snow shoveling or walking while it's raining, sleeting, or snowing, you'll be fine.
I bought this jacket for winter in New York City. So far (December 2021) it hasn't been that cold or windy here- maybe in the low 30s. The jacket works great so far. I'm hoping that it keeps me warm in below 20 degree weather and that I don't need a fleece or another coat underneath come January/February. I love how the brown color w... Read Moreorks with the inside navy hood color. It is so comfortable and fits wonderfully. I'm tall (6'4") and thin and it's not bulky and doesn't make me look frail either. My wife loves it too. My only concern is that it may not be warm enough come February, but I did not want to purchase the more ski-style super warm Patagonia parkas that come down to the knees. I was looking for a waist length winter coat with a detachable hood for more formal events.
Proud to wear it.
I purchased this jacket primarily to support Patagonia's efforts to make it from 100% recycled fishing news and reclaimed down. I also happen to love the jacket regardless! Super warm, stylish, removable hood, waterproof... everything I was looking for. I won't say it runs large, but it is roomy, and probably ideal for large sweaters/swea... Read Moretshits underneath. It still has a nice shape and doesn't come off as boxy. I'd love a second one.
nearly perfect vintage winter jacket
This has been a great jacket to wear so far into late fall. A big selling point for me was that timeless look. It looks great, but keeps me plenty warm when Im doing chilly morning hikes or walking to my job/classes during the day. I love the double zipper as well - works great when Im overheating or need to drive. I ordered a size larger than I us... Read Moreually get (large) b/c my normal size felt a bit snug in the chest for this jacket. I wanted to be able to layer during the winter so I sized up. It fits slightly oversized without being too big, and the toggle waist adjustments help adjust the sizing quickly. My only nitpick is that there is no wrist adjustment. It really wouldve been no trouble at all to add it, and it sucks that I cant seal the fit around my gloves. Please add this to the next version or adjust the current version so that wrist adjustments are added :-) another great sustainable jacket I cant wait to wear for the next decade.
Great jacket, but I have a few small complaints
I got this jacket so I would have a nice big parka for casual uses like walking the dog at night, wearing around camp, traveling in cold areas, etcetera. It's great for that, very warm and comfortable. My main complaint is the cuffs of the sleeves. For some reason, the elastic in the cuff creates a bit of a rough texture that somewhat bothers ... Read Moremy hands when I'm not wearing gloves, and the pockets aren't very big and lack zippers. It also is somewhat constrictive to movement in the shoulders, and it somewhat hard to compress or pack, but that just comes with the nature of a heavy parka. Overall great piece of clothing, but I may be returning it in favor of the mens silent down jacket.
Nicely made and warm
I chose a size S because the guy modeling size M on the page was 6'1'' and I am 5'8'' and also quite slim. It fits very well for me and I can also wear a T-shirt + a thick sweater under it but there is definitely no extra room then. Consider that if you are also my height but have a wider frame and long upper body/long... Read More arms! For me it was definitely worth the purchase. Looks good and is very warm. The material seems very durable and repels water very well. The extra hand-warmer pockets are awesome! I would recommend it for casual outdoor activities like walking or light hiking. Nothing with a lot of upper body movement/stretching (e.g. climbing) as the jacket doesn't reach far below the butt and would expose your lower back. The jacket is good for everything from +5°C and lower. I haven't tested it but I would say at least -5°C. Enjoy!
Feels great and light while warm.
I chose M size due to the model on your site having the same hight and stature as me. I don't think I can wear a sweater under it- a long sleeve shirt is about it without feeling crammed. We'll see how it does in Winter-cold winds with sleet.

Hi Thomas, thanks for taking the time to write a review! We're sorry the Medium doesn't fit quite right. Feel free to [exchange](https://www.patagonia.com/returns.html) this for a Large if you need to fit a sweater underneath.
