Why do you work for Patagonia?
Because we put our values and beliefs first and are not afraid to stand for what’s right, even when that means things will be harder. As a business, we don’t take the easy way out, and continue to prove that ‘business unusual’ is a choice and not impossible. When there’s a will, there’s a way!
What was your path to Patagonia?
I was born and raised in Cuba, so my lifestyle was quite different from those in First World countries. Adopting sustainable behaviours and habits were never really a choice, but a necessity. It wasn’t until I moved to Europe that I realised this wasn’t the norm. With time, I became increasingly aware and concerned with how much responsibility we share, and yet how little accountability we are willing to accept.
I decided to step up by using any ‘super power’ I may have to make the world a better place. And isn’t that what Patagonia stands for? Being truly serious about saving our home planet from the very beginning. I could only hope to put a little of me into this giant’s footsteps. Thankfully, I got to do so.
What do you like doing outside of work?
You’ll find me either playing board games, kayaking wherever there is water or painting socially-responsible cartoons for my page – and always with a musical instrument in my hands. Music is a huge part of my life!
What is the best thing about working for Patagonia?
During my time as online marketing intern, I was given - and enjoyed - a whole lot of responsibilities. I learned something new every day. It’s very cool to have a direct impact on Patagoniacs all over the world.
Being part of different environmental talks and an anti-racism workshop organized were highlights of my time here. And working with all kinds of talented folks, committed to protecting our planet and its people is just awesome!
